He begged her, pleaded her, everywhere she went, he would follow. Three weeks of this, just for a second of forgiveness.

In school, she never went the the newspaper club room anymore. She had quit, the teacher told him. But he knew it wasn't the Blue and Gold she gave up on, it was him.

That didn't mean he stopped.

At Pops, he saw her biting on the straw of her chocolate milkshake. Betts, please, listen- it was just one time!

"So I'm as replacable as a one night stand?" She got up and left. How he wanted her to do something else, get angry, upset, but not this bitter coldness.

He wished that day when she caught him, that he ran after her.

To the river where she cried and her tears mixed with the clean water.

Where he might have a chance at forgiveness.

But he didn't.

And it was too late.

He had found love in her, she was his soul mate, but they would never be together.

Weeks grew into months.

But her feelings didn't change. Did she still hate him? Her icy stare was worse than anything.

How foolish he had been. To think they would be forever, together. To be with his lover, when deep down he would be alone.

To find love in a perfect girl and ruin it with one mistake.

For her to be the light in his darkness, the hope in his desolate world.

The way she treated him now, it was like he was nothing to her.

And maybe, he should have loved her a bit more.
