You rub the countertops of Pops, and glanced up as the bell rang.

"Hey, F.p." You nodded to your co-worker, and began to untie the apron strings. Your shift was over, and you were excited to go home and sleep. You was tired of all this Lodge bullshit taking over the town, and the election was wearing you down.

At school, you were friends with Archie, Betty and Veronica, but Jughead had always been cold to you. Not friends, just aquiantances. Which sucked, since you had a huge crush on him.

"Hey, do you mind dropping by Southside High with these burgers?" F.p passed you a huge plastic bag before you was about to head out.

"You got a friend there?" You raised an eyebrow but took it anyway.

The man shook his head,"Jughead's doing some kind of protest. Chained himself to the building with some Serpents. And I know you always liked him a lot." Oh my gosh, how does he know?

You hurried out of the store before you could die of embarassment, and to the school.

It was freezing outside, and you shivered as you approached the large building. Strange, F.p said there would be serpents there, but there was only one boy. Jughead.

You felt your heart skip a beat, and you thought about the silly crush you had on him. We'll be alone... Just him... Maybe I should make a run for it, take the burgers for myself.

After all, they were still pretty warm. Hm... Then the green eyed boy looked up and saw you. Crap. Oh well, there went your plans down the drain.

"Hey. I brought burgers. What happened to the others?" You dropped the bag and took a seat next to him.

He sighed,"They said it was too cold, got frostbites. They'll be back, though." He sounded sure of it, and you felt a pang of sadness. You wish you could have friends who trusted you so much, like how he believed the Serpents.

"Burger?" You unwrapped one and offered it to him. He took it gratefully and shoved it in his mouth.

"Woah, relax. The burger ain't going to run away!" You laughed and threw the wrapper at his face.

"Hey! I'm cuffed to these railings, that's not fair!" He grinned. His smile made him look cuter, and without his stupid (but endearing) beanie, he was extremely handsome.

"Why do you act like you hate me, Jughead?" You asked suddenly, before you could stop yourself. The air felt chillier, somehow, and Jughead paused.

"I don't hate you, (Y/n)." He said softly, looking into your eyes. Then why did he act like you never existed, before?

You wanted to ask him that, but you couldn't find the words. "But..." You trailed off, and looked away.

Jughead took a deep breath,"Listen, (Y/n). I never hated you. I know at school, I'm always ignoring you." He shook his head and laughed, the chains clanging against metal.

"I'll tell you why. It's because I'm a coward. I'm scared to go up to you, and to say hi or just ask how your day went. I like you, (Y/n). I like you a lot,and for a long time, already. But I'm absolutely terrified that you won't feel the same way.

I love taking risks, and I fight for what I love. But you're different, (Y/n). You're not just some turf that the Ghoulies and Serpents fight over, or some area to be claimed. You make me feel things, and I'm scared to hurt the both of us."

The sky had grew darker, and everything felt so peaceful, with just him and you, and no one else.

You bit your lip,"Wow. That was some big speech, huh?" He nudged you, an exesperated expression on his face.

"Really? Is that all you have to say, after my 'big speech'?" His hand felt warm in yours, just like how the words had burned into your mind.

"No, not all I have to say." He raised an eyebrow, and you giggled.

"Okay, okay. I like you too, Jug. I like how you fight back even when the world is against you, how you don't care what people think."

"And...?" He smirked, and you blushed.

"You're such a freak, Jug." You joked.

"Yup."

"I love freaks." Before he could react, you leaned in to hug him. You wish the two of you could stay like this forever, in the deep embrace, eating burgers through the night.

"(Y/n)? Can you stay here a while longer?"

"As long as you want, Jug. I'll be here for you."
