She never thought he would cheat on her. Maybe she was just too guillable, or innoncent. Did he think she was stupid?

The first moment she entered, expecting to be greeted with the faint smell of sugar and soap- Jughead started working at Pops, she didn't know why. Now she knew- because he was hanging out with another girl. And the scent? Perfume.

How could she be so foolish?

Did she even mean anything to him?

But what hit her like a painful stab was the sight of him and that awful slut, on the sofa giggling and sighing, and she burst into tears.

What was she thinking? That they would last forever?

Jughead pushed the girl away, and stared as she fled, from him and from years of tears and quiet moments in the nights. All for him.

The only person who kept her going, who made her feel like there was a small but burning light in her darkness, even he had stopped loving her.

He didn't chase her.

Maybe he had never loved her.
