The core four were sat at pops one day after school; the girls had just finished cheerleading practice and asked their boyfriends if they wanted a milkshake: obviously they agreed. "Cheryl needs to take it easy I can't feel my feet!" Veroncia complained, leaning on Archie. "I mean honestly! No one needs to practice that much and the game isn't even until Friday!" She continued. Betty zoned out, not paying attention to her friends and boyfriend and just staring intently at the table. "Right B?" Veroncia said, pulling Betty out of her thoughts. "Sorry... what were you saying?" Betty said, finally looking up. "Are you Okay betts?" Jug said, looking down at his girlfriend with concern in his eyes. "Yeah.. yeah I'm fine" she said and flashed a small smile. "Are you sure?" Archie said. "Yep! Yeah I'm fine" she chirped, a little to Cheery; but the others decided to let it go for now. For the rest of the evening Betty didn't really talk and just sat pulling on the sleeves of her jacket.

"Are you sure you're okay babe?" Jug asked as he walked her home. "Yeah I'm okay" she said as he laced their fingers together. "Okay... but you know if you're not okay, you can talk to me?" He said as he stopped and placed his hands on her waist. "I know" she whispered, and put her face in his chest as he hugged her. "I love you" he said and kissed her hair. "I love you too" she mumbled. When they broke apart they carried on walking to Betty's. "Okay I'll see you tomorrow" Jug smiled as they kissed goodbye. "Goodnight juggie, love you" she said as she pecked his lips one last time. "Love you to gorgeous" he grinned and walked away. Betty took a deep breath before she opens her door. "Betty is that you?" Her dads voice thundered through the house. "Yes dad" she said as she shut the door. "What time Do you call This?!" He demanded. "I'm only two minutes late" she said, trying to walk past him and up the stairs. "DO NOT WALK AWAY FROM ME!" He yelled and grabbed her arm, yanking her hard and getting in her face. "While your mother is visiting polly you answer to me! Do.not. Disrespect me!" He hissed, squeezing her arm even tighter. "DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?!" He screamed and Betty nodded. "Yes dad" she whispered, not letting her tears fall. "Go to bed!" He said and pushed her so hard she stumbled onto the floor, her head hitting the stairs. "Get up!" Her dad yelled. "GET UP!" He screamed and kicked her stomach. Betty scrambled up and ran up the stairs, into her room and locking the door before she broke down into sobs.

Betty didn't remember falling asleep but she woke up on her bedroom floor to her alarm going off. She wiped her eyes and carefully stood up, ignoring how much pain her body was in. She walked into her bathroom and looked in the mirror, her head was cut and she had a bruise on her cheek. She lifted her shirt up and she saw the bruises that littered her pale skin. The sight of them was enough to bring her to tears again. She cleaned herself up and got dressed, making sure to cover her bruises with her sweater and then put makeup on. Quickly, she grabbed her stuff and left her house before she could run into her dad.

"Hey baby!" Jug said when she walked into the student lounge where her friends were. "Hi" she said. "How are you B?" Veroncia said. "Fine" Betty said as she tried to sit down but the pain from the bruises was too much and she groaned in pain. "Woah baby what's wrong?" Jug said. "Are you Okay?!" Archie said. "B?" Veroncia said. "I'm... I'm fine" she groaned. "Betts no you're not what's up?" Jug said, placing a hand on her arm and she flinched away. "B?" Veroncia said in concern but Betty just ran out the student lounge. The other three looked at each other before running after her. They followed her to the blue and gold where they found her sobbing into her hands. "Betts... please honey what's wrong?" Jug said, crouching in front of her. "I.. i... can't" she breathed out. "Breathe betts you're okay" Jug said, wiping her Tears. "Here Betty" Archie said, handing her some water. "Thanks" she sniffed. "B? What's happened?" Veroncia said. "Promise you won't all freak out?" Betty said, standing up. "We promise" they said. Betty let out a shaky breath and moved to her bag where she pulled out some makeup wipes, she wiped her face makeup off to show her cuts and bruises. Then she turned around. They just stared at her for a moment. "Who the hell did that?!" Jug said. "There's more" Betty whispered and pulled up her sweater to show the other bruises. "Oh my god..." veroncia whispered in horror. "Betty who did that?" Archie said. "M..my dad..." she sobbed and Jugehad pulled her into his arms. "Shh Baby.. shh" jug comforted. "Betts. How long?" Jug asked. "At least two months" Betty cried. "Baby why didn't you say anything?" He asked, pulling away and looked at her. "I was scared" she said. "We're here for you B!" Veroncia said. "Yeah Betty, Whatever you need" Archie nodded. "Thanks guys" Betty said with a small smile. "You're not staying there anymore betts. We'll go and get your stuff then you're coming to live with me Okay?" He said and she nodded. "Thank you juggie, I love you" she said, kissing him softly. "I love you too.... I'll always Protect you".
