Chapter 56

It had been a month since Betty had been at home and she was doing well, but she was also really bored. Even though she was with jughead and the Andrews most days, she couldn't help but feel bored everyday. She knew everyone was being very gentle with her, so she can stick to her treatment plan, but she wanted something more.

On Monday morning, Betty had a session with jughead at the centre, and she decided that she wanted to bring up the topic to see what he suggested she does. When she arrived at the centre, she chatted with Kevin for a while until she headed straight to jugs office. "Come in!" He called when she knocked. "Hey juggie" she smiled, hugging him as she walked in. "Hi baby, how are you today?" He grinned, leaning down to press his lips to hers. "I'm okay" she said and took her seat. "Did Archie drop you here?" He asked but Betty shook her head. "No, I walked" she told him and jug quirked an eyebrow at her, that was an hour walk. "I'm kidding" she giggled and jug smirked at her. "Wow someone's feeling sassy today" he teased and she laughed, settling further into her seat. "Okay, so shall we start?" He asked and she nodded.

Halfway through their session was when the topic was brought up. "And how do you feel now you've been out of here for a month?" He asked, looking at her. Betty didn't say anything she just shrugged. Jug just stared at her for a moment, she doesn't normally not answer him. "Betts?" He pressed, gently. "Is it hard?" He frowned, while he knew it was difficult being in recovery, she hadn't shown any signs of struggle since she's been out. "Yes but that's not what i meant" she sighed. "Then what did you mean betts?" He asked. "I'm bored!" She exclaimed, throwing her hands up. "Bored?" Jug asked and she nodded. "I have nothing to do and I'm going crazy" she sighed. "You could paint? Or write?" He suggested, trying to think of things she could do to keep busy. Obviously though this was the wrong thing to say to his girlfriend, as she looked angry. "I do those things, I need something real to do!" She snapped. "Like a job or something" she added. Sighing jug closed the file he was holding and looked at her. "I don't think you're ready for a job yet betts" he said softly. "What?" Betty said. "Normally we don't suggest patients look for jobs until at least 3 months on treatment, in case they can't handle it" he explained to her. "Oh I get it" she answered and jug was taken back at her attitude. "You just don't think I could handle it!" She yelled standing up. "What? No baby, that's not it at all" he said softly but she was already up and out the door, ignoring jugheads calls.

She stormed out the centre and into the parking lot, Taking a second to breath. "Betts!" She heard from behind her and spun around to see jug running over to her. "Baby..." he said when he reached her. "What's wrong betts?" He asked, reaching for her hand. "I know this isn't about a job" he added as his eyes searched hers. "You're right" she sighed, leaning against a wall and looking at her shoes. "I..I'm just so bored all the time and I need something that's not just my hobbies because then i can't use my hobbies to distract myself" she admitted. "Distract you?" Jug asked, still holding her hand. "I'm still a recovering addict jug, things are still there to tempt me in my mind even if I'm not doing drugs, so I need to keep busy" she told him. Jug was silent for a moment, until he nodded, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his forehead on hers. "Okay, I understand" he said. "But I still don't think a job is a good shout" he added and Betty sighed, trying to pull away from him but before she could, he held her tighter to him. "Hang on baby" he smiled. "You didn't let me finish" he smirked and Betty look up at him...

"Elizabeth Cooper, how would you feel about finally Starting college?"
