Chapter 28
"BETTY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Jughead yelled, not wasting any time in running towards her, falling next to her as Betty just screamed and cried. "No! No no no no no!" She kept repeating, scrambling to try and pick up any pills she could. "Betty! No!" Jughead said, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her back, as she wiggled in his arms and cried. Reggie had rushed off to get help and Kevin was just standing in the doorway, eyes wide with shock. "Betts, calm down baby, calm down" jughead said, trying to keep her calm as she was sobbing and wailing in his arms. "Shhh, shhh" he comforted. "Betty, did you take any? How many pills did you take?" He asked, worried out of his mind for his girlfriend. Betty didn't say anything, just cried. Moments later, Reggie was back with some doctors who took Betty away. "What the hell happened?" Reggie asked. "I have no idea! She was doing so well!" Jughead said, pacing the room, trying to wrap his head around what had just happened. "We need to go after them" jug said, and left Betty's room, following her to the centres hospital.
"It seems she has been taking adderal for a few days now" the doctor informed them, after a few hours of waiting for information. "What?" Jughead asked, confused. "Is That why she was acting weird?" Kevin asked. "Yes, she would have experienced some mood swings, as well as the fact she was trying to hide that she was taking them" the doctor explained. "But is she okay?" Jughead asked. "She'll be fine. Being an addict had saved her in this case. She hasn't overdosed on them, and she wasn't taking them all the time" the doctor started. "However, she may have become dependent on them again, which means she has to restart her treatment plan". "Oh betts..." jughead sighed. "Can I see her?" Jughead asked and the doctor nodded, leading him into Betty's room. Betty was sat up in the hospital bed, her face pale, her hair a mess and her eyes were red rimmed. "I'll be back later" the doctor said before Leaving. Jughead walked over to her and sat on the side of her bed. "What happened betts?" Jughead asked softly. "You we're doing so well..." he sighed. "Obviously not" Betty said, no emotion in her voice. "Why didn't you tell me? If you felt like you were struggling? Why wouldn't you come to me?" He asked, trying to get answers. "I wasn't struggling" Betty shrugged. "Betty, you're in a hospital bed, after I found you crying on the floor surrounded by adderall..." he scoffed. "You wouldn't get it!" Betty said, her voice sounding louder. "This is why I didn't tell anyone! No one gets it!" She snapped. "Then tell me!" Jug said. "Betty I am your counsellor! I'm here to help you!" Jughead exclaimed. "Exactly! I'm just a patient to you!" She yelled. "What? No Betty..." jughead said, realising how what he said sounded. "You're my girlfri~" he started but Betty cut him off. "Can you leave please" she said. "What?" Jughead asked. "Can you leave, I'm tired" she whispered, putting her head down and not looking at him. Jughead sat still for a moment, staring at her and wondered how the whole day had been a disaster. He didn't want to leave her, he knew she was angry, sad and upset and she probably didn't mean anything, but he respected her wishes, and kissed her head as he left her room...
Later that evening, jughead was in his office when Reggie walked in. "You okay man?" Reggie asked and jughead sighed. "I don't get it, what happened?" Jughead asked. "How did she even get hold of aderall?" He asked. "I don't know, we'll figure it out" Reggie assured. "I... i love her reg..." jughead admitted. "I just want her to be okay" he said. "I know you do, why don't you tell her that?" Reggie suggested. "What?" Jug asked. "Tell her that you love her. We don't know what made her to this, we don't know how she's feeling, but maybe hearing that she's loved by one of the only people she opens up to and trusts will help her" Reggie told him. "I don't know, I don't want to put her under pressure" jughead said. "Jug... she loves you man" Reggie said. "Have you been to see her?" Reggie asked. "She asked me to leave" jughead explained. "She didn't mean it, you know that, she's just pushing you away" Reggie reminded him. "She's angry at herself and probably embarrassed, you can't let her push you away" Reggie said. Jughead nodded. "I won't...ever".
