Steve and Bucky walked through the streets with Natalie between them. She held their hands and smiled brightly. Steve and Bucky were going to a pride parade and they decided that she was old enough to go with them. She was six now and she had seen the last one on TV. She hadn't stopped begging them to go since. They had only been to a couple themselves, but they figured it'd be fun.They found a spot in the grass and Steve sat down. Natalie sat in his lap and Bucky sat beside them, holding Steve's hand. 

The parade started and Bucky leaned his head on Steve's shoulder. It made him happy that people could be so open about their sexuality now. If Bucky were to come out as gay in the forties, he would've gotten thrown out of the army and into a jail cell. That was why he didn't even tell Steve. It was dangerous for both of them. 

He was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard someone yelling beside him. He hadn't heard most of it, but he could tell he was a protester. He rolled his eyes, "could you shut up, please?"

The man looked at him and his gaze drifted down to Steve's hand in his. "Fucking faggot..." he mumbled bitterly. 

Bucky tried to calm the anger that boiled inside him. Steve had his jaw clenched and Bucky could tell he was fighting himself not to lash out at the guy. 

"If you don't like it, leave," Bucky said simply.

The man faced him now, "make me."

Surprisingly, Natalie was the one who snapped. She got up and threw her rainbow flag at his face. Bucky grabbed her hand to stop her, but she yanked it back. "Love is love you asshole!"

Bucky usually would've yelled at her for her language, but he was actually proud of her. Even though she didn't have his DNA, she sure had Steve's attitude. 

The man rolled his eyes and walked off. He obviously didn't want to fight a six-year-old.

Bucky pulled her down into a hug and Steve high fived her, "You are still putting ten cents in the swear jar, missy."

"Daaaad," she groaned.

"That's the deal and you know it."

Bucky smiled fondly at the exchange. He was so proud that he planned on paying the ten cents for her.
