I Won't Let You Fall
Sebastian was talking about how he's afraid of ice skating, so naturally...
"Steeeeeeeeeve," Bucky whined. He tried to pull away from his boyfriend who was holding his hand firmly, "Please. I don't want to. I really don't want to. Let's just go back."
"Bucky, it's fine. It's just ice skating. Look at all the kids doing it. Kids, Buck. It can't be that dangerous," Steve pulled him closer to the entrance of the rink.
The brunette looked onto the rink with fear. The kids were falling everywhere. That didn't look safe to him. It didn't look fun either.
Steve looked at him, his grip tightening, "nothing bad is going to happen. I've got you," he walked back a bit until he felt the blade of his right skate on the ice. He grabbed Bucky's other hand so he had both of them in his grip, and put his left foot on the ice too.
"Steve..."
"I won't let you fall, Buck."
Bucky took a deep breath, and eased himself onto the ice, making sure he stepped over the small threshold so he didn't trip over it. He gasped a bit when his left foot started to give out, but Steve steadied him, "that wasn't too bad, was it?" the blonde asked softly.
"Yeah, it was. I nearly fell."
"But you didn't," Steve said with a sweet smile.
He shook his head at him, not being able to hold his own smile back. Steve's smiles were more contagious than yawns.
Steve started to slowly skate backward so that he could still hold Bucky's hands, and watch him to make sure he was okay. Bucky stumbled a bit, but he managed to keep up with Steve's very slow pace without falling.
"You're doing great," Steve assured him.
"Those kids over there are skating ten times faster than we are, and they don't need help. I am not doing great."
"Those kids have been skating a lot longer than you have. You can't compare yourself to them."
Bucky huffed, "I think I've got it now. Let's try a bit faster."
"Are you sure?"
He tightened his grip on Steve's hands, "I'm sure."
Steve nodded and picked up his pace, increasing their velocity, but not a lot. Apparently, it was a bit too much though. Bucky lost his footing and stumbled backward, his back slamming into the ice. Steve couldn't catch him, and also didn't have enough time to let go. He fell forward, landing on top of Bucky.
"Ow..." was all the brunette said, clearly winded.
Steve rolled off of him, and looked at him worriedly, "are you alright?"
Bucky sat up, "yeah, I'm alright," he answered, brushing snow off his sleeves.
The blonde stood up and offered him a hand. He took it gratefully and got helped up by him. Bucky rolled his shoulders to loosen up his achy muscles. He looked up at his boyfriend.
"Sorry," Steve apologized, "I should've been paying closer attention...."
"Don't worry about it, Stevie. I was expecting to fall."
"You're not hurt at all, are you?"
He smiled a bit at Steve's obvious concern, "not at all. Maybe just a small bruise."
"Good. At least I didn't crush you."
"That's highly unlikely."
Steve grabbed his hands again and eased them back into the rhythm of skating.
Bucky gazed into his eyes lovingly and leaned forward to place a small kiss on Steve's lips.
"Careful there, Barnes," Steve blushed, "distracted skating is a hazard."
"Skating is a hazard in general. At least let me enjoy it," he smirked, leaning in to kiss him again.
Steve fell backward this time. His response was a little more colorful than Bucky's was, "fuck!" Was his choice of wording. Bucky didn't have balance anymore once Steve was down, and he fell on top of him, "what did I tell you?!" Steve groaned.
Bucky just snickered at him.
"You're such a jerk..."
