"Steeeeeeeeeeeeve..."

"Yes,  Buck?" Steve was exhausted. His energy was spent. Bucky was sick, and whenever he got sick, he got really sick. His immune system would just completely crash. This meant that Steve had to deal with his complaining, and there was a lot of it.

Bucky came out of their bedroom with the comforter from their bed wrapped around his shoulders. His nose was red and Bucky was sniffling quite a bit. He collapsed on the couch beside Steve, causing Steve to bounce up a bit. Bucky wasn't a heavy guy, but having an arm made of metal added a bit of weight to him. "I'm still sick..." he whined.

"Of course you are. I told you to take a nap so maybe you'd feel better. I didn't say it would cure you."

His head slumped onto Steve's shoulder, "but why not..."

He sighed and wrapped his arm around his shoulder, pulling him closer to his frame. "Because that's not how it works, Buck."

"That's bullshit..."

He chuckled softly, "It is. But it's also life."

"Life can suck my -"

He was cut off by Steve's hand over his mouth. "Please don't finish that sentence."

He rolled his eyes. Steve noticed how warm he was and grew a bit worried. "Are you hungry?" he asked softly.

"Not really..."

"What about some soup? Maybe Natasha could make you some. She's been texting me all morning asking if she could help with anything."

Bucky smiled a bit, "really?"

"Yeah. She was quite determined, too."

He thought for a moment, "I should probably eat something... soup would be nice..."

Steve nodded and picked up his phone. He texted Natasha and she answered immediately. She told him she'd get right on it. Steve smiled and set his phone down. He brushed the hair from Bucky's clammy forehead and placed a gentle kiss on his temple.

Bucky whimpered softly under his touch. His whole body was aching and trembling.

Steve checked his watch impatiently. Tony was supposed to be there soon. He was working with Bruce to formulate some medicine that actually worked for Bucky. His serum wasn't quite as strong as Steve's, but his metabolism still just burned through over the counter drugs. He had been taking cold and sinus tablets like candy and practically chugging bottles of cough syrup, but it did nothing. Poor guy just wasn't getting better. Everyone felt bad and tried to pitch in to help. Most of them offered blankets and tissues whenever they saw him. Steve was making him multiple mugs of tea a day. It was peppermint and full of honey. Bucky used to make that tea for him when he was sick. He was hoping it would work for him too.

He glanced down at Bucky who was now snuggled into his chest. If not for his face peeking out, he would've just looked like one giant comforter. "If you get off of me... I'll make you some tea."

Bucky groaned and mumbled something incoherent. Steve could tell just from the tone that it was a complaint. He was surprised when Bucky actually shifted off of him though. He got up carefully and turned on the kettle. He texted Tony as he waited. Tony answered as he was pouring the boiling water into the mug. He told him he'd be there in about five minutes. Steve smiled a bit and dissolved three spoonfuls of honey into the tea. he left the tea bag in and brought it over to Bucky. The stronger the tea was, the better. He took his spot next to Bucky and helped him sit up a bit. He placed the warm mug in his hands and made sure he had a good grip on it before he let go.

Bucky thanked him with his eyes and sipped the tea gingerly since it was still hot.

Tony arrived right when he said he would and knocked gently before he opened the door. Steve smiled up at him, "Hey, Tony."

"Hey." He approached them with a bag in his hand that appeared to be a first aid kit. He sat on the edge of the coffee table and faced them. "We think we may have figured it out." He pulled out a bottle of cough syrup and an orange prescription bottle. Both of them were labeled with Bucky's name and usage instructions. "First things first. No one else can take these except for you, Bucky. They're designed for your body. They could potentially hurt others."

Bucky nodded in understanding.

Tony continued, "The cough syrup can be taken every five hours. Just half a capful. The cold and sinus is two tablets every eight hours. That's also on the label in case you forget. Please follow the instructions and don't take any more than that. This is strong stuff, even for you. That's what'll make it work."

Bucky processed all his words before speaking, "Thanks, Tony."

Tony nodded, "No problem." He handed the bottles to Steve. "Administer them according to the instructions and he should be feeling better in no time."

Steve smiled a little, "you're the best, Tony." There was no sarcasm in his voice. He genuinely meant it.

Tony winked, "I know." He left before any more was said.

Steve measured the medications and gave them to Bucky. He whined about the taste of the cough syrup and downed his tea after to get the taste out.

Steve chuckled, "you're such a child..."

Bucky punched him in the arm jokingly and lay down against his chest.

Natasha knocked on the door ten minutes later with a bowl of chicken noodle soup. Bucky thanked her kindly and ate the soup slowly. Natasha visited for a bit until he was done the soup and then left so he could get some sleep. He fell asleep in no time, cuddled up to Steve.

It took two weeks of cough syrup, pills, and soup to get him back on his feet, but the whole thing brought them together more. They all helped out in their own little way and Bucky was extremely thankful for each of them. They were now knitted closely together like one big family. It warmed all of their hearts. They all had lost people and they supported each other in the best ways. They were also thankful that they no longer had a full grown whiney toddler walking around the tower.

(I wrote fluff. You happy now?)
