He felt like his body was floating. Floating far away from him. He didn't feel the pain he felt before and a dullness overcame his thoughts. He knew he should fight this, but why? To be hurt? To be a disappointment to his friend?

His family was long dead, but why should he care, he lived in pain long enough, longer any human should live at all. He wasn't meant to be alive today. And what did it matter? If he would give in now, he would never feel pain, never had to fight like he had so many time before. To many.

A numbness overcame his whole body now and he was loosing conciousness. Of course he knew what was going to happen. He knew he was going to die. But he didn't mind, he wanted this. Wanted to be free of everything he had to live through.

He heard a voice far, far away from him. The words were unclear, but he did understand the meaning. Then one phrase cut through all the mist in his head.

"Bucky. Please don't. Don't leave me." Steve, he remembered the voice, although he was sure he couldn't follow the plead. He wanted to be free. From his pain and his guilty conscience.

So he let go...
