Stargazing

"So uhh... We'll do stargazing tomorrow because I'm tired and I know you are too." Taehyung said. He told Jungkook where they'll meet so they can ride the bus together.

Taehyung said that they'll stargaze in a peaceful hill far from their town. Where no one knows them.

"Can I have your number? So that I can text you just incase something happens or something..." Jungkook said sheepishly.

After the hiking, they're not as awkward as before but still don't consider each other as a friend. Well just Taehyung, though. He's just too hesitant and has a lot of doubts.

Jungkook wondered why Taehyung didn't want to befriend him. Is it because he sees him as a rival instead of friend and a mere classmate? Not like he already liked the boy but afterall, after knowing that Taehyung is dying, maybe he can at least make memories with him... As a friend.

"Okay..." Taehyung quietly said and fished out his phone then gave it to the raven head.

"Bye." they bid their goodbyes after exchanging numbers and walk their separate ways.

-- The Next Day --

Jungkook learnt his lesson and set an alarm so that he won't be late again. After all, he wants to leave a good impression on Taehyung.

"Where were you yesterday, dude? I wanted to hang out with you." Yoongi said on the other line.

Jungkook chuckled "I accompanied Taehyung." he said while laying on his bed.

"Woah... what did you guys do?" Yoongi said in a playful tone, "You didn't even tell me you had plans and also with Taehyung! Damn." Yoongi laughed.

"We just hiked, Yoongs. Maybe we could hike next time, too. The view's great." Jungkook responded nonchalantly.

Flashbacks of Taehyung smiling and taking pictures of the breathtaking scenery made him smile softly. Only if he approached the boy earlier, they could have been best friends.

He's so cute. I just wish he warm up to me just before...his time is up.

Jungkook sighed. He can't believe he's hanging out with a dying person who he once abhor. The thought of Taehyung dying made his smile vanish and heart feel heavy for some reason.

"--are you listening?" Yoongi groaned as Jungkook zoned out, unable to hear the words he was telling him.

"Oh, sorry, Yoongs... I was distracted..."

"You thinkin' about Taehyung--" Yoongi stifled a laugh.

"Stop! No! But are you free today, though?" the other raven head added. Jungkook glanced at his digital clock.

5:08pm

It's almost six and he just can't let Taehyung down, again."Oh sorry, Yoongs. Taehyung and I will meet up at six to stargaze.." he said calmly, waiting for Yoongi to tease him.

"Hmmm... Okay, have fun talking about algebra and other nerdy shits." Yoongi laughed.

"Let's hang out some other time... Maybe next week?" Jungkook asked so he won't make the other upset. After all, he is his best friend.

"Okay, Kook. I just wanted to hang out because I was going to tell you that I saw a cute guy that moved just in front of my house. He's damn thick." Yoongi sighed dreamily.

"Bruh, make a move." Jungkook chuckled.

"It's too soon– wait someone's knocking at my door.." Yoongi replied.

"Text or call me later, Yoongs. I need to get ready." Jungkook and stood up slowly.

"Okay, bye bitch." his best friend ended the call just before he can fire back.

Jungkook shook his head and started to get ready.

They sat on the bus silently and quite awkwardly. Taehyung's eyes started droop while Jungkook is busy typing on his phone.

Jungkook's eyes widen when he felt a weight on his shoulder.

Taehyung's eyes were closed with his mouth slightly open as his head was comfortably placed on Jungkook's shoulder.

Jungkook froze, he refused to breath. He's afraid that he might wake the brunette up if he breathes. The raven-haired boy relaxed and bit his lips, not knowing what to do.

The bus made an abrupt stop and lead to Taehyung unconsciously leaning forwards, into the seat infront of them.

Jungkook was fast enough to hold Taehyung before the boy could slam his head into the seat.

The raven head gently but awkwardly placed Taehyung's head on his shoulder again, patting the boy's head a few times before sighing in relief.

Jungkook's lips stretched into a smile.

After the two hour ride, they started to search for a peaceful spot. "This looks nice to sleep on." Jungkook pointed out on the plain and clean spot.

Taehyung nodded and nibbled with his lips nervously, "Uhh...I don't have a tent but I b-brought a pillow and blanket.I'll just use the blanket--"

"You can sleep with me, Taehyung." Jungkook interrupted and gave the boy a reassuring smile.

"N-no.. It's fine. I can sleep outside." Taehyung said quickly and gave the other a nervous look.

"There might be snakes out here..." Jungkook said and pointed at Taehyung's back.

The brunette yelped and sprung himself on the raven head. Jungkook fortunately caught him and kept his balance.

Taehyung's eyes widen and pulled his body away from the raven head in a speed of light, also with pink cheeks, "I'm sorry." he lowered his face in embarrassment.

"I'll only forgive you if you sleep in the tent." Jungkook said and Taehyung nodded since he had no choice. And he doesn't like to sleep outside, knowing there'll be snakes crawling freely. (or that's what he thought)

"Come on. Let's set up the tent and eat before we stargaze." the raven head grinned.

Taehyung gave him a tight lipped smile and helped him set up the tent.

After they set up the tent and ate their food, they sat outside the tent and stared at the stars that is shining brightly above the sky.

They gazed at the stars quietly and peacefully, completely forgetting their problems. It was silent but it wasn't awkward.

"Taehyung-ah..." Jungkook called out calmly but didn't avert his eyes on the stars that are scattered breathtakingly.

The aforementioned male hummed and turned his head towards the other with doe eyes.

"Why are you dying?" the raven head asked silently. Afraid that Taehyung will get mad.

The brunette laid down with a soft sigh, his arms being his pillow, "I have a heart disease and only has two or a month to live." Taehyung smiled sadly.

Jungkook turned his gaze towards the laying brunette and laid down too, "I'm sorry..." he muttered and looked at Taehyung sympathetically.

"Don't be. It's not your fault." Taehyung blinked his tears away and gave the other a forced smile as Jungkook nodded lightly and divert his gaze towards the sky once again.

"Why don't you want me to be your friend?" the raven head asked quite gloomily.

"I don't have much time to be your friend, Jungkook." he replied apathetically.

"I want you to be my friend, Taehyung. Just when I saw you and sat beside you at the first day of school, I wanted to be your friend...but you didn't want me back. You always get mad at me." Jungkook said and stared at the male beside him.

Taehyung stayed silent and avoided the eye contact. "I want to be your friend just before you...pass."

I don't want you to die.

It went silent with just crickets resonated the place peacefully.

"Are you sure?" the brunette mumbled turned to look at the other.

"Yes..." Jungkook said and smiled softly. Keeping his eye contact with Taehyung.

"I don't think I'm easy to handle nor understand..." the brunette whispered.

"I think you underestimated me, Taehyung. I understand complicated math equations, I think I can understand you as well." Jungkook said.

"What–" Taehyung laughed, "You really compared me with math equations?" He asked.

"I'll try my best to understand you, Taehyung. Let yourself free just this once..."

Taehyung's heart felt happy and his stomach felt weird in a good way.He can't believe this is happening.

No wonder why he's loved by all.
He's quite understanding and sweet.

"Hey, let me show you something." Jungkook stood up and held his hand out for Taehyung to hold.

Taehyung stood up with the help of the raven head and followed silently.

Their walk came into a halt. The place was illuminated with small flying lights.

Fireflies flying freely and gracefully making the two stare in complete awe.

"How did you know this place, Jungkook?" Taehyung asked, eyes full of amazement.

"We once camped here..." he shrugged and started to feel his pockets, trying to find his phone, "Shit. I think I forgot my phone. I can't take pictures now." Jungkook groaned.

"Then let's save this moment in our memories." Taehyung said, not averting his gaze upon the fireflies.

Jungkook began to shamelessly stare at the brunette.

"What are you doing?"

"Saving you in my memories..."
