It was now the day of the decathlon. Peter never returned last night, and Ned had been freaking out about it since this morning. Angela was furiously knocking on the door, since they couldn't be late for the competition.
"Ned! Peter! Come on, we don't have all day!" Angela yelled from outside the hotel room.
"Coming!" Ned yelled back, grabbed the "glowy thingy" and shoved it into his backpack. He opened the door, and Angela immediately questioned where Peter was. "Where's Peter?"
"Not here." He responded.
"You've gotta be fucking kidding me." She grunted.
The two caught up with the rest of the students and made their way to the decathlon venue. There was still no sign of Peter, which only raised more concern for both Ned and Angela. Once arriving to the venue, they had to turn off their phones and hand them to security.
"Ned, Ang, do you know where Peter is?" Liz asked them. You could tell how nervous she was, and this definitely wasn't helping.
"Nope." Angela replied. "Haven't seen him."
"Oh god." Liz said to herself, then took a deep breath. "Flash! You're on!"
"Yes!" Flash raised his first in the air.
"Peter is so dead." Angela whispered to Ned.
"Totally."

"We have now entered sudden death." The moderator announced. The decathlon was going smoothly, and it was now a tie between the two teams. "The next correct answer wins the championship."
Michelle hits the buzzer, and now all eyes were on her. "Midtown Tech?"
"Zero." She answers, shrugging.
"That is correct. Midtown takes the championship!" Everyone immediately hugs Michelle, forming a group hug. In a surprise, she doesn't push them all away and accepts the hug.
After the team's win, they all decided to go to the Washington monument to celebrate. All of the team was going to go up there, except Michelle. She didn't want to "celebrate something built by slaves".
They were now going through security and Peter called Ned, who quickly answers. "Peter, are you okay?"
"Ned, where's the glowy thing?" Peter frantically asks.
"Don't worry, it's safe. It's in my backpack." Ned replied. As he said this, he put his backpack on the conveyer belt, something he definitely shouldn't have done.
"No, the glowy thing is dangerous!"
Ned doesn't listen to him and rambles on about the competition. "You missed the Decathlon. I covered for you. Angela is pissed-"
"Ned, listen to me!" Peter yells.
"We're at the Washington Monument now. You gotta-"
Liz grabs Ned's phone, and Angela automatically gives her a look. "Peter, is that you?"
"Hi Liz-"
"You freak!" Liz practically screams for everyone to hear. She definitely was pissed. "You are so lucky we won. You know, I want to be mad, but I'm more worried. Like, what is going on with you?"
"Liz, I have to talk to Ned. It's really important!"
"Miss, all items on the belt, please." The security guy says to Liz.
"Liz, there's something in Ned's backpack! It's really dangerous. Don't let it go through an X-ray-" She doesn't listen to him and puts the phone on the conveyer belt.

They were now in an elevator, going up the Washington monument. It was pretty boring, but Mr. Harrington thought it would be "fun" for them.
"The Washington Monument is 555 feet, 5 and 1/8 inches tall. Notice how the marble and granite are cut around the stone." The tour guide said as if she were a robot. Clearly she didn't want to be there, and everyone could tell due to her monotone voice.
Out of nowhere, the elevator starts to fill with smoke, and it's coming from Ned's backpack. He drops his bag immediately, not sure what was really happening. The "glowy thingy" in his backpack had caused a crack in the ceiling, and it was glowing bright red.
"Just stay calm, everyone." Liz reassured her decathlon mates. She was trying to keep her cool, but she was barely doing that.
"Oh, we are all going to die here." Abraham said quite sarcastically towards Liz.
The tour guide was barely doing anything to help situation. "Okay guys, I know that was scary, but our safety systems are working."
"Are you shitting me?" Angela asked the woman. Ned looked at her concerned and tried to calm her down. "Ang-"
"We're very safe in here." She said to the group.
They stood there for a few minutes trying to figure out what they could do. The tour guide decided to actually be useful and found an emergency hatch in the ceiling. Students climb up one at a time, starting with Cindy. More students get to safety slowly but surely, but the elevator is barely staying still.
"Okay, who's next?" Mr Harrington asked the students. Liz goes to climb up, but Flash pushes her out of the way, which didn't do any justice for the elevator. "Me, it's my turn!"
"Flash, seriously? What are you doing?" Cindy questioned him as he began to climb up.
"Don't worry about the trophy!" Everyone yelled at him, but he could care less what they had to say.
The elevator begins to shake, meaning it could fall at any second. He quickly makes it up, and extends his arm with the trophy in his hand. "Take my trophy!"
The elevator starts to fall, and everyone starts screaming. What else could you do? They come to a sudden stop, wondering how they were still alive. It was Spider-Man, who shot a long web to stop them from falling to their death.
Peter clumsily falls in through the elevator, which only caused the elevator to fall again from the impact. He saves the fall with his webs, luckily in perfect timing.
"Ahem." Peter coughs as he's hanging upside down. "Hey, how you doing? Don't worry about it. I got you."
"Yes! Yes!" Ned fist pumps the air, causing more shakiness to the elevator.
"Ned!" Angela whines.
"Hey, hey, hey," Peter says, acting like he has no idea who he is. "big guy, quit moving around."
"Sorry, sir. So sorry." He quickly apologizes.
Once they reach an upper floor to where the rest of their teammates where, they began exiting one by one once again. "Mr. Harrington, go. Ned, come on."
"Okay, okay." Ned goes up, then Mr. Harrington, who extends his hand for one of the two girls.
"Go, Liz." Angela says.
"Are you sure?" Liz asks her. "You can go before me."
"Yeah, go before me." In reality, she was too scared to climb up. What if something happened? Only time will tell.
"If you say so." She shrugs it off, and grabs onto Mr. Harrington's hand.
"Alright. This is your stop."
"Come on, Angela." She freezes for a moment, and the elevator is practically hanging by a thread. "Go, go, go. Everybody out! Move it, people. Move it, move it!"
"Are you sure it's safe?" Angela asks last second. Of course it wasn't, but she had to get out of there somehow.
Mr. Harrington nods at her, and once she reaches for his hand the elevator snaps. Angela begins to fall and reaches her hand for Peter's, but he doesn't catch her. As her screams echoed through the elevator shaft, Peter immediately takes action and shoots a web down to her. The elevator falls down completely, but not Angela with it. The web luckily caught her, and she was only dangling by her wrist.
Peter begins to pull the web up, and he brings Angela to safety. Ned couldn't believe that had just happened, but words simply couldn't describe what he was feeling right now.
"You're okay. You're okay." Peter says softly as he takes her hand to pull her up. She's visibly shaking, and he definitely notices it. This was one of his best friends, and he just saved her life. If she wasn't aware of his identity as Spider-Man, that sure would've been awkward.
Angela takes deep breaths as she lands on the ground, but they weren't helping at all. Her eyes are wide, and she's clearly scared shitless.
"So, uh, is everyone okay?" Angela nods at him. She looks at Peter one last time before the web holding the elevator snaps.
She covers her mouth, wanting to scream out his name, fearing for Peter. "Pete-"
Peter falls, and everyone collectively looked down at the elevator shaft wondering if he was okay. Flash crouches down, and sticks his head out so his voice could echo. "Are you really friends with Peter Parker?"
Angela just stood there, struggling to process what just happened. Fear, shock, and sadness were the many emotions she was feeling right now. Suddenly she heard her name being called by Ned, and she snaps back to reality.
"Angela!" She immediately wraps her arms around Ned, resting her head on his shoulder. Tears stream down her face like waterfalls and she had no idea how to stop them. In that moment she genuinely thought she was going to die. But also, was Peter okay as well? She literally just watched him fall down the elevator, and she had no clue if he was even alive.
"Hey, it's okay. We're okay." Angela didn't say anything, she just continues the embrace she's currently in. The sound of her sniffling could easily be heard by Ned, but he let her just let it all out. She didn't want to let go of him since she was still in shock of the moment.
"I love you, Ned." She whispers out of the blue. This definitely takes Ned by surprise, but he sure wasn't complaining. "I- I love you too. Come on, let's get outta here."

I'm just gonna... go...
