Sunday
Not much happened after the events of Liz's party. Currently Ned and Angela were in Ned's bedroom, sitting on plush bean bags listening to Angela's "vibes" playlist. Since it was Sunday, there wasn't much going on for the two of them. They had school tomorrow, but that wasn't exciting whatsoever.
Ned remembered what happened during truth or dare at Liz's party and had asked Angela a question out of nowhere. "Is it really true that you've never been kissed?"
Angela looked at him a little confused, but answered anyway. "Obviously. If it happened already I would've been jumping for joy for the next week. Why?"
"I don't know." He shrugged. "Just sounded like there was no way it could be true."
"I guess." She frowned a little. "What about you?"
"What about me?" Ned asked confused.
"Have you been kissed before?" Angela questioned him. Ned laughed a little at her question, since there was no way it was gonna happen anytime soon for him. "God no. No girl has taken interest in me."
She sighed, relating to his pain. "Well no boy has taken interest in me."
The words Peter told him echoed through Ned's head, and he had been thinking about it since that night. "Did you know a person's eye will dilate when they're with the person they love?"
Ned took a look at her eyes, wondering if this so called "theory" was true. She looked at him as well, confused as to why he was staring at her. Her eyes sure were dilated, sparking an idea in Ned's head. "I got an idea."
Angela raised an eyebrow. "Go on..."
"You've never been kissed, I've never been kissed, what if we just get it over with?"
"Huh?"
"I mean what if we were each other's first kisses? Then we can just move on with our lives." Angela really thought for a good two minutes about this. This was her best friend since they were babies. What if this kiss ruined everything between them? There was really no going back after that. But in the end she agreed. What's one kiss? "I... okay."
Now Ned was practically freaking out on the inside. He had crushed on her for so long and now he's finally getting to kiss her. He couldn't even understand how he had to balls to ask her to be each other's first kisses. All it took was a leap of faith.
As they started to lean in, Angela failed to realize she still had her bubble gum in her mouth. Right as they were about to go for it, she felt the gum go down her throat, and it didn't feel great. Her eyes widened, and she starting coughing a lot.
"Oh my god, are you okay? Do I smell?" Ned frantically asked her, wondering what did he do wrong.
She shook her head no, and quickly grabbed a nearby bottle of water. Angela quickly guzzled the water, and swallowed. "I almost choked on my gum but I swallowed it."
"Have fun for the next seven years." He chuckled.
"That's a myth!" She crossed her arms. They say it takes seven years to digest gum when you swallow it, but rumor has it it's false. "I beg to differ."
Angela coughed a little more, but she was fine. "I should probably go home."
"Yeah..." Ned frowned. He didn't exactly want her to go, but how could they get past them almost kissing?
"See you tomorrow morning?" She questioned as she grabbed her purse. "Obviously."
"Bye." After what was an extremely awkward moment, Angela left Ned's house faster than she's ever done before. She jumbled with her keys trying to unlock the door, but her brother, Jackson, opened the door after noticing a shadow at the little window of the door. "Mommy! Angela's home!"
"Already?" Her mom was sitting on the couch watching TV, thinking Angela wouldn't be home until dinner time. "Did something happen?"
"No, I just didn't feel so good. That's all." She lied. Angela was too embarrassed to be there a second longer after her coughing fit over a piece of a gum.
Angela's mom gets up and walks up to her, and notices how red her face is. "Oh, honey. You're flustered. What's wrong?"
"Nothing, mom." Angela said. "It's fine."
"I guess." Her mom frowned, not wanting to persist any further. "Your father's making your favorite, stuffed shells. I'll call you when dinner's ready."
"Okay." She sighed and walked upstairs to her room.

At around 9 pm, way after dinner time, Angela's mom knocked on her bedroom door. "Angie?"
"Come in." Angela yelled out. Her mom quietly walked in, and shut the door. "Isn't Angie getting old?"
"Kind of," She laughed a little. "but you're always gonna be my baby."
"Mom..." Angela groaned. Her mom sat on the edge of her bed, and quickly apologized. "I know. Embarrassing mom stuff. Now, tell me what's wrong. You've been out of sorts since you got home."
It was obvious that she was all over the place. She almost kissed her best friend. How can she admit it out loud? But, Angela trusted her mom with this type of stuff such as boys.
"NedandIalmostkissed."
"Huh? Honey, I can't hear you."
"NedandI-"
"Speak up!"
"Ned and I almost kissed!" Angela yelled out then covered her mouth with her hands. Now that she's said it out loud, it felt so weird. This was reality, and she had no choice but the face it.
"Ned Leeds?" Her mom asked, looking at her confused. "Next door Ned?"
"What other Ned would it be?" Angela said sarcastically. "Of course it's Ned Leeds!"
"Oh." She looked down.
"Yeah." Angela sighed. Her mom placed a hand on her shoulder, trying to comfort her.
"I had feeling this would happen eventually."
"What?" She looked at her confused. What did she mean that she had a feeling? "Mom!"
"Look, you two have always been so close. It was bound to happen eventually." Her mom shrugged.
Angela sighed. "That's not helping me whatsoever."
"Honey, these feelings you're feeling are totally normal!" She exclaimed.
"This feels like a puberty spiel all over again." Angela fake gagged and rolled her eyes. "Come on, I'm fifteen."
"All I'm saying is you can fight what you're feeling. Maybe he feels the same way as you do." The issue here was that Angela didn't exactly know what she was feeling. They were too complex to comprehend right now.
She raised an eyebrow. "What are you implying?"
"Uh," Her mom paused. "that you two like each other?"
"I said nothing about liking him like THAT!" Angela gawked over the fact her mom assumed she liked Ned as more than friends.
"But you almost kissed-"
"Yeah," she quickly interrupted her mom to set the facts straight. "only because we wanted to kiss our first kisses over with."
Angela's mom sighed after hearing that. She was a teenager once, and could relate to her pain. "Your first kiss shouldn't just be something to get over with. You'll know when it's the right time."
"Are you sure about that?" She frowned. Angela wasn't exactly most guys type. She didn't see her first kiss happening anytime soon unless she just got it over with with Ned.
"Come on, I'm old. You know, your father was my first kiss. He didn't even know it at the time-"
"Mom-"
"Gross. I know. All I'm saying is I knew it felt right. You'll have that moment eventually." Her mom assured her. But maybe that moment would end up being with Ned. The world may never know. "I guess. Thanks mom."
"No problem." She smiled and began to stand up. "I'm always here to talk. See you in the morning."
"Okay." Angela said then her mom left her bedroom, shutting the door quietly behind her.
"Well. I almost kissed Ned." She spoke to her self, then repeating the same thing over and over again. "Oh my god, I almost kissed Ned."
