On Thin Ice(v x bts)

Pairing:v x bts

Summary-One camera director, a frozen lake, filming for Spring Day, a fear of standing on ice, an unofficial paramedic, and one very cold Kim Taehyung

Alternately, Taehyung falls into a frozen lake. one rescue mission later, his hyungs make sure that he's okay.

The members all gathered around the small space heater in the tent, blowing into their hands and shivering enough to clatter their teeth.

"Sorry," Namjoon said sheepishly. "I guess I shouldn't have made the lyrics about winter, huh?"

"Not the time, hyung," Jimin said, curled into a little ball.

Taehyung smiled and ruffled his hair. "Should've asked for pants."

"Shut up, hat boy!" Jimin jeered, glancing at his pants, hat, and nice winter coat. "You've got a big fluffy coat too!"

"And you've got a fuzzy one," Jungkook pointed out.

"Yeah," Jin said, reaching out to pinch his cheeks. "You look like a big fuzzy bear."

"What do you mean by big?" Hoseok joked. "He's no bigger than an anteater."

Jimin made a face at him and worked to become warmer.

It had been a long day to say the least. They'd woken up early to get to the filming sight before sunrise to film the dark scenes for the music video for Spring Day.

They'd run, twirled, jumped, and stood in the snow- all but two of them wearing shorts. Jeez, Taehyung and Yoongi were so lucky.

After all of that, they'd gotten to around midday with all of their solo shots filmed, knowing that only around a third of the shots would get in, but that's showbiz, kids.

They were all sitting around trying to stay warm until a staff member came to tell them the next shot.

Eventually, that time came.

"Boys," the director said cheerfully, dressed in a heavy duty winter coat, gloves, snow pants, and a ski mask. "Staying warm?"

"Trying to," Hoseok said optimistically.

"And failing," Jimin muttered.

"Ditto," Yoongi agreed, letting his macho facade fall to complain about his numb fingers. "Got any blankets?"

"None that you can use at the moment," he said. "The next scene is the one on the frozen lake. If you'll follow me, I'll show you how it'll go down."

They all caught up to his large strides.

"Sir? Are you sure that it's safe to be filming on the lake?" Namjoon asked.

"Do I think seven grown men can handle themselves in this situation? Yes, they should be able to. People are telling me not to put you on the ice. Apparently, that's too 'potentially dangerous' for you guys. It's all horse shit if you ask me."

"Okay..." Namjoon said, not having his question fully answered. "What's going down?"

"Alright," the director said. "What you'll do is all stand by the lake and call out to Taehyung, who'll be sitting facing away from you on the ice-"

"I thought you said the ice was too dangerous," Jin said questioningly.

The director sighed angrily. "I most certainly did not. I think that it'd make for a killer shot, but if you're all too afraid to take chances for the sake of your video- MY video, then I guess I won't-"

"It's fine," Taehyung said quietly. "It's okay."

"See?" the director said. "That's the spirit! Anyways, like I was saying prior to the interruption, it would tie into the storyline that played out because Taehyung forgot to come out for the group scene." He scowled at the younger a bit. "Which in turn called for improvisation. This way, you'll essentially be 'getting Taehyung to come back' which is a good idea, if I do say so myself."

"That's because it's your idea," Yoongi muttered.

"I'll pretend I didn't hear that," the director said flatly. "Taehyung made this situation for himself. This shot never would've had to happen if he hadn't made that mistake."

"I understand," Taehyung said shakily. "Can we just get this over with please?"

"Yeah," he said, smiling. "You'll walk out first and step onto the ice. Walk out a few steps and sink to your knees, just like the railroad scene. Then, I'll cue the rest of the members to go to the shore and call out for you. You'll turn your head and think about it before rising up and walking to them. Then, you'll all run off this way."

He gestured towards a carnival setup.

"Oh, and nobody else on the ice please. I'm already sending one out there against advisement, I don't need two."

He got behind his camera and nudged Taehyung forwards.

The singer walked carefully forwards on shaky legs and got to the shore, looking around a bit. He took a step forwards and stepped on the ice, slipping a bit. He pulled it back and tried once more to-

"Cut!" the director screamed. "Taehyung, this is your character wanting to be alone. He doesn't kinda sorta maybe want to have some time- No! He's lonely and he feels like he has no friends. He's determined. Go again!"

Taehyung followed him back and started again, walking forwards much like last time and stepping onto the ice- right before falling on his butt.

The members tried to go forwards but were stopped by the director.

"Taehyung, I want you to stand up and walk further onto that ice! Don't come back until you've got proper fucking footing!"

The members glared at him and looked to Taehyung with concern, who was struggling to stand back up.

They were suddenly reminded of the time where Taehyung almost got a concussion from slipping while ice skating and cracking his head on the surface. He'd confided later that he'd never been confident on the ice and he was terrified to go back out. He couldn't do this.

"He needs to get off," Namjoon said. "He's not good at skating."

"This isn't skating, idiot. Your friend is literally in shoes. It shouldn't be so fucking hard to-"

He was cut off by a yelp from the ice. Taehyung had stood up and almost slipped again. Now, he was headed the couple feet back to shore but the camera director got there first, taking both hands to the singer's shoulders and thrusting him back out onto the ice. He slid and slid and slid until he was roughly fifteen feet into the lake.

"Walk back sturdily from there and we'll try the damn shot again."

Taehyung looked to his feet then back up. "G-guys!"

The boys could hear the terror in his words and rushed forwards against their better judgement.

With all seven of them there, the ice splintered and cracked with the pressure.

"Off!" Hoseok screamed, shoving the rest of them off and moving forwards himself.

Jungkook hit the shore first and rushed down sideways to get on the ice from a less unstable point.

The ice underneath Taehyung had already broken at this point and he was hanging off the edge of the hole, gasping and shuddering and sobbing.

Hoseok got to him first, crawling on all fours to try to distribute his weight evenly.

He grabbed one of Taehyung's slipping arms and laid flat on the ice as an anchor.

Jungkook got there a few seconds later and did the same.

"Get a rope!" Hoseok spoke clearly to the people on the shore. "Throw it out so that Taehyung can..."

Hoseok looked at Taehyung, who was growing rapidly more unresponsive. He would've said 'so that Taehyung can grab onto it' but at this point, all Taehyung could probably do would be stay conscious. This water had to be way below freezing, possibly even in the negatives. Taehyung needed out.

"So that we can tie it around Taehyung!" Hoseok finished his sentence.

Trying to pull Taehyung up by themselves now was just a recipe for disaster, so the best that Hoseok and Jungkook could do would to keep his head above the rapid waters below the surface.

The ice continued to crinkle under their weight. The needed to get off. Now.

A staff member came running with a bundle of rope. "Rope!" she shouted. "Catch it!"

She chucked it out onto the ice a few feet from Hoseok.

"Jungkook," the dancer said. "Hold Taehyung. I'm getting the rope."

Jungkook nodded and readjusted his grip before Hoseok fet go.

Taehyung's body twisted wildly without the anchor on his other side, making Jungkook move along with him, the ice sounds increasing even more. "Hoseok!"

Hoseok skidded right back and grabbed his arm, stabilizing the second-youngest but not the ice.

"I need to tie this quickly," hoseok said, dipping the rope under the ice and threading it around Taehyung's midsection a few times.

He tied it tight.

"We need to lift him out so they can pull. We get away from the hole as quickly as possible and crawl along next to Taehyung until he gets to the shore. Got it?"

"Got it."

"Pull!"

Taehyung was hoisted out of the water and onto the weak ice.

Hoseok and Jungkook both scurried away from the cracking ice like they'd dropped a bomb in there. "Pull pull pull!" They screamed at the members, who all had a part of the rope.

They all tugged and Taehyung's light body was scraped along the ice a few feet.

The two rescuers went by his side and grabbed him. Hoseok on the legs and Jungkook on the upper body. Now that they were no longer in the middle of the lake, they could stand without worrying about falling through.

They rushed him to the shore where a team of staff was waiting with a foldable stretcher.

They set him on it and ran beside the team back to the main tent.

Once they were in there, however, Hoseok and Jungkook were held back from the rest of the members.

"You two need to get checked out," their manager said with worry in his eyes. "This isn't an option."

The members looked back at them.

"Go with Taehyung," Hoseok said. "We'll be fine. Make sure he's okay."

They were taken to a smaller tent to sit by a heater with blankets around them drinking hot tea.

In the other tent, Taehyung was laid out on cot with blankets surrounding him.

Despite all of that, he was still shivering violently enough to look like convulsions.

"Why hasn't he stopped?" Jimin questioned angrily. "Make him warm!"

The medic glanced at him. "Blankets can only do so much...In another situation, I would've called an ambulance but we couldn't do that so-"

"So what?" Yoongi asked, approaching the cot. "So we need to hold him and reassure him. He's freezing cold and in shock. Go get him some dry clothes and warm tea."

The medic bowed. "Yes, I'm sorry."

Jin walked up to him. "You shouldn't have snapped at her. Snap at the director, not the medic."

"Yeah, okay, hyung. Help me get him to the couch."

They carried the freezing boy to the couch and laid him down on top of Jimin, who was already sitting there. His feet went into Namjoon's lap, his chest in Yoongi's, and his head in Jin's.

The medic returned with a warm thermos with a straw, a set of sweatpants, and more blankets. She also had a beanie and a pillow.

Namjoon stood up, letting Taehyung's legs rest against the couch and took them with a smile. "Thank you so much. We can help him now."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes," Jin answered for him. "Thank you."

"Okay, I'll wait just in the other tent. Call immediately for anything."

She left and Namjoon gestured for them to sit him up.

They stripped the blankets off of him, hearts breaking when whimpers escaped the boy.

"So sorry Taehyungie," Jimin said, pulling off his shirt. "You'll be nice and warm soon."

Yoongi leaned down to kiss his dirty hair before toweling it off gently.

They put on another shirt and changed his pants and underwear, not sparing the boy any privacy for the sake of his health, because really- which one was more important?

Finally, they had him changed and Jin put the hat on him, covering his ears.

They laid the pillow in the eldest's lap and lowered Taehyung down onto it.

Then, Namjoon layered him with blankets and took back his spot under his feet.

Taehyung slowly stopped shaking and opened his eyes, just a little more alert now.

"Feeling a little bit better?" Jin asked, stroking his cheek.

Taehyung gave a wet cough and turned into Jin's stomach, moaning.

"Did he inhale water?" Namjoon asked, concerned.

"I don't- maybe a little," Jin said. "I can't recall him-"

"Is he okay?" a blurted question came from the tent opening, revealing Jungkook and Hoseok, both with gloves on their hands and blankets wrapped around their bodies.

"He's a little better," Jimin said with a welcoming smile.

"Don't worry about us," Jungkook said, kneeling by Taehyung's head and stroking it through the hat. "Sleeping?"

"No," Jin said, patting his back gently. "Feels like shit though."

"That's excusable," Hoseok said. "Can you try to get him do drink something? I brought him a tea."

"The medic brought us some earlier," Yoongi said, holding the thermos. "We wanted to wait until he felt be-"

"He's not going to feel better until he gets something warm into his system. Does that have sugar in it?" Hoseok asked.

"Yeah, it's sweetened," Jin said, grabbing it from the second-oldest. "Why?"

"That's good. He needs an energy boost."

Hoseok cupped the back of his head gently and twisted it around until he was looking up at the ceiling of the tent.

His eyes were glazed and his lips were slightly parted.

"Taehyung?" Hoseok asked.

Taehyung's eyes flitted to him distractedly, moaning.

"You need to drink this tea to feel better," Hoseok said, leaning him against the arm of the couch.

Jin shifted so that he could be more comfortable and Jungkook supported his head.

Jimin and Yoongi rubbed his body in various spots, coaxing blood flow to the frozen boy.'

Hoseok held the straw and jammed it in between Taehyung's lips, surprising the boy. He sucked in and started at the warm, sweet liquid splashing over his tongue.

"Taehyung-ah," Jimin said in a singsong voice. "Drink up, you'll feel much better."

Taehyung looked at him, terrified before looking back at the members and attempting to turn into Jin's stomach again. Hoseok didn't budge, holding his chin in place with all the gentleness he could muster.

It was obvious that he was in shock. He needed to feel warmer and more comfortable to get out of shock, and this tea would help.

Hoseok held the straw to him while Jin leaned forwards to press himself against the boy. He hummed and swayed gently until Taehyung was almost asleep in his arms.

"Taehyung," Jungkook spoke. "Drink now, okay?"

Taehyung hummed and sucked on the straw just a bit, swallowing painfully slow.

A couple more painful swallows later, he opened his heavy-lidded eyes.

"Hey Taehyung," Namjoon said. "How are you feeling?"

Taehyung leaned back and thunked his head onto Jungkook's theigh, making him smile. "Cold. Tired."

Jungkook stroked his hair as Namjoon continued talking to him.

"Do you remember what happened?"

Taehyung yawned. "Fro'n lake," he said.

"Are you hurt?"

"Not that I can feel," Taehyung wrinkled his nose cutely.

"He's tired," Jimin said. "Why don't we let him sleep?"

"Hoseok?" Yoongi asked.

"Yeah?"

"What do you think of that?"

"He can sleep. He knows what's happened and is responsive...Wish he would've drank a little more but he can do it when he-"

"Annnddd he's gone," Jin said, feeling the weight in his arms get a tiny bit heavier with the sleeping mass of human.

"Hoseok?" Namjoon asked.

"Yeah?"

"How'd you know what to do all the time?"

"You know that my parents didn't really approve my dancing career," he said, shrugging. "They made me study first aid at the first sign of interest in being a paramedic."

"You wanted to be a paramedic?" Jimin asked.

"No, I wanted to play tennis or dance, but I liked a medic show," he said laughing. "My parents jumped on it too quickly."

"It paid off though," Yoongi said, looking at Taehyung. "You saved him."

There was a somber silence.

"Ouch," Jungkook hissed.

"Oh shut up," Jin said fondly. "You always have to be at the center of attention, don't you?"

Jungkook smiled as he continued to stroke his hair. "I'm just happy that he's okay."

"We should get him home," Jin said. "This is no place for him to heal up."

"Yeah," Yoongi said, standing up. "I have to do something first."

"Hyung," Namjoon spoke, standing up.

"You can't stop me," Yoongi said. "Don't try."

"I'm not," Namjoon assured him. "I want to come with."

Yoongi peered at him. "You'll break your wrist."

"If I'm not there, you'll break your career."

Yoongi sighed, irritated. After a moment though, they exited together in the direction of the director's tent.

It was not even fifteen minutes later that they arrived.

Jin scanned for split lips or bruised knuckles but found nothing.

Yoongi never got physical enough to permanently harm someone, but that doesn't mean that they won't harm him. While the rapper preferred intimidating looks, scathing words, and a few rough touches, someone could very likely pull out a weapon or attack him, and that scared Jin every time he went to avenge a member.

That was another thing about him. He was a pretty peaceful person, taking offensive words like a champ and letting others hurt him, but if someone crossed a member, that was the end of them.

Trusting his dongsaengs, Jin let it be. "Let's go," he said. "Let's bring him home."
