Seokjin: 13 June Year 22
Finding My Own Place And Keeping A Place for Each Other
Part 2
I walked past the front door and spotted a few pairs of shoes outside.
"Whose are these?" I asked the housekeeper.
"They're from the scholarship foundation," they explained.
I went to my dad's office and took a look inside. Of course. My dad was with all of the other men from the scholarship foundation. I knew what they were talking about. It was almost funny that I knew what would happen in their futures.
And they had no idea what would happen. I knew about the redevelopment plan, and that it would start on the 20th. Then they'd go to where Namjoon lived, on the 30th of September, and start the demolition of all the containers.
When I went a little bit closer to the door, I saw uncle JunHo was also eavesdropping on their conversation.
"We should implement the plan faster," one of the men said from inside. He was the president of Youngjin Engineering & Construction.
The redevelopment plan was led by the foundation members. The foundation claimed to pursue academic progress and equal opportunities, but in reality they used their power and money to realize profit.
In the process of this redevelopment, illegal favoritism was given to those on the sly. Votes were manipulated and the foundation "won" the rights to the construction task and changed the building plan. The agreement was signed under the table.
And my dad was in the middle of this all. Uncle JunHo was my father's right hand man. He did all the deals and handled all the details.
Uncle JunHo wasn't actually related to me. He was my father's junior in college. When he started working for my dad and went into politics, I grew up around him. He helped my father a lot and he was a huge aid around our home as well.
I coughed to let JunHo know I was there. He started and looked at me, surprised.
"When did you get home?" he asked, trying to hide his embarrassment.
Uncle JunHo was never an ambitious man. He never had big dreams. In one of the time loops he'd been arrested because of money. He probably knew about all of my father's plans already even though he was eavesdropping by the door. He wanted to listen in. He was greedy for money.
I went to my room after that. I checked my phone and read Hoseok's text. Hoseok just found out about Jungkook's accident. I closed my phone.
It wasn't important. Jungkook's accident. I tried to prevent it from happening and I stressed over when and how the accident took place countless times before.
Jungkook's accident had nothing to do with this time loop. It was an accident that could happen to anyone.
When you leave your wound, it will heal by itself and all will return to how it was before. You may get scars or a disability as a result, but that is your problem to handle.
Even if you get killed in an accident, there is absolutely nothing anyone else can do about it. And that includes me.
