Jin-faking

This was requested by someone on the discord who's name I can't remember so sorry! If you requested this and you want credit then just comment here k cool cool
Also warning this gets hella angsty so apologise in advance for any tears I may cause.

Jin loves being a part of bts, he really did, but he wasn't a fan of dancing. Well, he used to enjoy it, before people online would slate him, and would relentlessly ridicule him and his dancing, which made him not like it as much. And while he was used to it these days, he still wasn't fond of it. He'd never admit that though.

He was just scrolling through Twitter, as they often do, when he saw a tweet.
Why is everyone saying Jin's good at dancing? He's terrible! So stiff and awkward. He should just leave bts honestly.
Now all of them had grown a thick skin and were used to hate, but for some reason this one comment managed to find a hole in that thick skin Jin had formed, and it hurt. It hurt him.

No matter how much he tried to brush it off and move on, something in his brain just played those words over and over in his head, the image of that tweet was branded onto his eyelids, and he couldn't escape it, no matter how hard he tried.

"Cmon Jin, we gotta go for dance practice." Jin heard the word dance and felt an arrow through his heart. He didn't want to go. But he got up anyway, and followed the others out the door and to their car to head to the studio. Jins mind swarmed with thoughts and eventually his mind was coming up with ways to get out of dance practice. Then he thought of it.

All the boys get muscle pains all the time, so he was thinking about that, but he knew some simple muscle pains wouldn't excuse him from dance practice. His mind wondered from there, til he came up with the perfect excuse. He'd fall while warming up, twisting his ankle, and spraining it. That would get him out of dance, right? At least for today.

Jins heart was pounding, getting nervous about how this plan would play out. What if he acts it badly and everyone finds out he's trying to skip dance practice. They'd sure get mad at him for that. They all dumped their stuff at the side of the room before moving into the middle to do their own warm-ups. Jin starting jogging around in a small circle, and it felt like his vision tunnelled as he prepared himself for what he was about to do. He looked up to see if anyone was looking at him, but everyone else was too focused on their own warm-ups to pay him any attention. Nows the perfect time seokjin, lets do it.

Jin falls to the ground with a scream, clutching his ankle. The fall looked so fake and bad, he could tell, but luckily by the time they'd all turned around to face him, he was on the floor. Jimin came running over with wide eyes, that face he does whenever he's worried.

"Hyung are you ok? What happened?" Jimin says, crouching down in front of him with a worried face, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder.

"I was just jogging and I must have landed awkwardly. My ankle twisted really badly..." Jin said, doing his best to sound pained, and clutching onto his ankle. His acting degree was going to good use, at least.

"How bad is it on a scale of 1-10?" Jimin asked, being gentle with Jin as he carefully rubbed his shoulder for comfort. Ok think Jin, I don't want to say its so bad that they make me go to a hospital, but i don't want to say its fine and have to dance. think. think.

"Ummm, about a 7?" Jin says, carefully running his fingers over his 'injured' ankle to make it seem like it really hurts.

"Ok um, how about we get that shoe off and get you a chair to elevate it, and get some ice on it and see how it goes, yeah?" Jin nods and the others all run around trying to help. Hoseok pulled up a chair, while jungkook rushed off to get an ice pack. Jimin untied jins shoelaces, and gently lifted up his leg to try and get the shoe off, but jin being perhaps a little too dramatic started screaming at the slightest movement of his ankle while jimin tried to gently ease the shoe off.

"Sorry hyung, I'm being as gentle as I can." Jimin says, carefully easing the shoe off some more. Jin grips onto jimins shoulder, his face scrunching with pain. Of course, in reality, he felt nothing. Eventually Jimin got the shoe off, and carefully guided jins leg up to the chair. Jungkook handed jimin the ice, who then placed it on jin's ankle. Jin kept his eyes open this whole time, praying for a tear to fall. And just his luck, one did. His eyes stung badly, but it was worth it for the crocodile tears.

"Are you ok hyung what's up? what's wrong?" Jimin asks, pulling jin into a hug after seeing the tears on his cheeks. Jin sniffs and tries to sob. These tears wouldn't last long. "Is it the pain? or is it something else?" Jin nods, trying to act like he can't get words out.

"I-it hurts a-a-a-and, I-I don't want to make things harder for you by not being in practice." Jin said, and those last words were sincere. He really hated that he was sabotaging their practice session, and what's worse, he's faking this whole injury.
"It's ok hyung, you hurt yourself. It's not your fault. Just rest your ankle like that for a bit and we can see if it gets any better. If it gets better you can join us, and if it's still bad we can take you to a doctor to get treatment. Yeah?" Jimin said, ruffling jins hair. Jin nodded, wiping the tears away. Jimin smiled softly before going back to the others and carrying on.

Jin sat and watched, his heart filled with jealousy. How can they all dance so well while I just never improve no matter what? It's not fair. After about 30 minutes of sitting and watching them dance (and his self esteem being shattered into even more pieces), they take a break and Jimin goes straight over to Jin.

"How's that ankle doing? Is it any better?" Jimin asks, crouching down next to Jin.

"I don't know..." Jin mumbles, and Jimin removes he ice pack from Jins ankle. Funny, theres no bruising or anything...

"Well, It looks pretty good to me. We managed to avoid any swelling. Can you maybe try walking on it?" Jimin suggests, and jin just goes along with it. After all, at this point he felt pretty confident he could get away with it, ignoring the fact that visually his ankle looks unscathed.

Jimin helps lift Jins leg off the chair where it was being elevated, and helped Jin stand up onto his 'good' leg.

"Just try putting some weights on it." Jimin says, holding both of Jins hands to help support him. Jin steps forward, putting the smallest amount of weight on it, before yelping and flinching. Jimin sighs with disappointment, and helps Jin sit back into the chair.

"How about you try one of the ankle supports we have? That might help." Hoseok suggest, rummaging around in the first aid kit for the ankle support. They have all sort of bandages and ankle/wrist supports for whatever injuries may occur. They had definitely had their fair amount of usage over the years. Hoseok kneels down in front of Jin, carefully slipping the ankle support onto his foot and doing up the velcro. Jin pretends to flinch the whole time. He was getting exhausted from having to think so consciously about each small movement and whether it should hurt him or not. "There, try that." Hoseok says, standing up and offering a hand to help seokjin stand up, while jimin takes his other hand. Jin takes a small step forward, putting a bit more weight on it this time before flinching and shaking his head.
"No?" Jimin asks simply, his eyebrows creasing with concern.
"I-It's better, but it still hurts." Jin says, looking up at everyones concerned faces. He felt a pang of guilt strike through his heart like an arrow. They were all so worried for him. If they found out this was all fake, who knows what they'd do. But they wouldn't be happy, thats for sure.

"well, do you think you can dance?" Namjoon asks. No, no I cant dance. Jin shakes his head.
"I'm sorry I don't think I can..." Jin said. This time he was actually telling the truth.
"It's ok, don't apologize, silly." Jimin says, motioning for Jin to sit back down, before crouching down in front of him.

"Look, hyung, it's up to you, but I think you should see a doctor. They can help work out out what's wrong and help it heal faster. But it's up to you." Jin sighs. By saying no it might seem like he's hiding something. But by saying yes, he's setting himself up to be found out. It was a tough decision. Eventually, Jin shook his head.
"No. I'd rather give it a few days. If it's not better after a few days then I'll go." Jin promises, and the others nod, albeit reluctantly.
"Ok then, how 'bout you head to the studio and work on your vocals or something, since you're not of much use here right now." Namjoon suggests. Jin felt an arrow through his chest once again at those last words. He was starting to think that maybe the others would agree with that tweet. He really can't dance.

Jin nods, standing up and hobbling out the door to the vocalists studio. He locks himself in there, the moment he closed the door returning to walking normally. He flops down into the seat, his head in his arms, his chest tightening as tears pool in his eyes.
I'm really of no use to them huh. I can't dance for shit. Why am I even here. Why did I ever agree to even join bts. I'm bad at everything.
He sobbed into his hands, trying to be quiet incase someone heard.

After carrying on with dance practice for a little while, Jimin couldn't help but feel like something was wrong. He just had a feeling, telling him to go and check on Jin, so during the break Jimin announced that he was going to check on Jin, and the others just nodded, carrying on with practice.

Jimin knocked on the door of the vocalists studio, putting his ear up to the door. Jin quickly perked up, quickly rubbing the tears away, and hobbling to the door, incase they could see him.
"Hyung, are you ok?" Jimin asks, just checking but when he sees jins bloodshot, irritated and glossy eyes, he knew he wasn't.
"Have you been crying? Hyung what's up?" Jin couldn't help but start crying again, and Jimin quickly entered the room and shut the door behind him to give them some privacy before embracing Jin in a tight hug. Jin was squeezing so tight like he was clinging on to Jimin for dear life. He loved his dongsaengs so much, but he was holding them back. He didn't want to have to leave them, but he felt like he had to so they could go on to do all the things they dreamed of. Jin was the thing holding them back from those dreams. At least that's what he thought. Jimin knew straight away from the volume of tears and sobs that this was more than just a sprained ankle. There was something deeper going on here.
"Hyung, sit down." Jimin said, carefully pushing him towards the chair. He couldn't help but notice the lack of a limp as Jin walked backwards to the chair. "Tell me what's going on. This is more than a sprained ankle, I can tell. Somethings going on, you gotta tell me." Jimin says softly, crouching in front of Jin once again. His heart swelled with worry seeing just how upset Jin was, that he couldn't get a single word out.
"Ssshhhh it's ok, take deep breaths hyung." Jimin says, carefully rubbing his back.

After staying like that for a little while, Jin finally manages to get a word out, and confess to Jimin.
"It's fake." Jin chokes out, and jimin looks back at him in confusion.

"What?"

"It's fake, Jimin. I'm not hurt." Jin chokes out, hiding behind his hands. He can't even bring himself to look in Jimins eyes. Jimin wanted to be mad, but considering how upset Jin was, there must be something going on. He had to find out what it was.

"Hyung, why did you fake an injury to get out of practice? Something must be going on, I know you would never do something like that just for the sake of it. Tell me what's up." Jimin asks, desperately trying to keep his temper.

"I-I-I....." Jin could barely get the words out. He wanted to, but he just couldn't.
"I-I'M WORTHLESS JIMIN!" He screamed, the only way he could get the words out. Jins eyes widened with shock. What on earth was going on.

"What are you on about hyung? You're not worthless! What on earth made you think that?" Jimin said, holding on to jins shoulders firmly and staring him deep in the eyes.
"T-t-t-the... person on twitter... they said I can't dance... and I can't... they're right... so I'm worthless..." Jin said in between sobs.
"Hyung..." seemed to be the only word Jimin could get out. He was shocked. He wasn't angry at Jin anymore. He was angry at whatever imbecile decided to tweet that waste of ~140 characters.
"That tweet. It's a lie. It's one big lie. Couldn't be more of a lie. Don't listen to it. You are a dancer. You are a valuable member of this group. We couldn't survive without you jin. Don't listen to stupid tweets like that." Jimin seemed to have magical powers, his words would reach the members better than anyone, and so Jin nodded, starting to feel better.
"I really tried to ignore it when I saw it, but I don't know why I guess it just got through and hit me hard yknow." Jin said, wiping away his tears.
"Don't worry hyung, we all feel the same way. We all see hate comments from time to time, and it hurts. It does. But next time, just come and talk to one of us and we'll help you ok? You don't have to fake an injury to get out of dance practice." Jin nodded, wiping away the remainder of his tears. "Now let's go back to the others, and you can apologise and explain yourself, yeah?" Jin hesitated, not wanting to see the disappointment in his band mates faces when he admitted to faking an injury, but he knew it had to happen.

Their heads all perked up as they saw Jimin and Jin walk in, with no limp.
"Guys I-..." Jin hesitates, but Jimin gives him an encouraging pat on the back.
"I'm sorry, I faked the injury. I wanted to get out of dance practice cause I saw a comment saying I can't dance and it made me feel terrible and I didn't want to dance so... I'm sorry." Jin apologises, bowing his head down. The others looked around at each other, before Namjoon broke the silence.
"It's ok Jin. Just don't do it again. Next time you see a comment like that just talk to one of us and we'll help you, yeah?" Jin nodded.
"Comments don't mean anything."

With that, Jin smiled a little, walking into formation with all the others, and dancing with them, looking in the mirror at himself.

Maybe I'm not so bad after all.

Oof. I'm sorry if I made you cry lol. Wipe those tears away. It's ok.
Anyway, I don't really have much to say today.
The only thing I do have to say is that I'm getting close to 100k. I just hit 90k I think and I want to believe that I can hit 100k soon, so please, if you would be so kind, maybe if your bored or something, just go through and read through some old chapters again or something. Read through this whole book if you have time (if you manage to do that I seriously commend you haha) and help me reach this goal cause I really wanna hit it and it would mean a lot and I also have a little something planned. I mean it's nothing amazing don't get your hopes up but it's something 😂
Anyway, I'll see ya in the next one.
안녕!!!!! 👋🏻
