Jimin- fall
This was requested by @honeymoondreams hope you enjoy!
Jimin was sat in his room on his bed, switching between reading a book and playing on his phone. He had to be kept at home while he recovered from an illness. It was just a mild cold, but since the condition of bighit's artists is paramount, he was told to stay at home until he was 100% better to avoid making things worse or spreading it to others. On this day Jimin was feeling much better, but he still wasn't quite 100%, so he had to stay at home. It was quite boring at home on his own all day, but he understood the reason, so he was happy to just get lost in a book or on his phone. If he got bored of that he would usually do some chores like cleaning the dorm or maybe do some baking.
Jimin had already spent all morning reading, and when he looked at the phone he realised it was already 3 in the afternoon. Only then did he realise how hungry he was, so he went downstairs to the kitchen. But he had no idea of what was to come.
On his way down, he miscalculated a step. His heart skipped a beat as he suddenly felt himself falling. Time seemed to go in slow motion as he saw his whole life flash before his eyes, and before he could even register what had happened, he felt a sharp pain in his head, and he was blacked out on the floor.
He came to at some point, but he wasn't able to move. He just stared up at the ceiling. He recognised it as the ceiling by the stairs, so he pieced the pieces together in his mind- he fell down the stairs. His breathe got caught in his throat at the realization. How could he be so careless and stupid? He couldn't move no matter how hard he tried, and the tiniest twitch sent an unbareable ache through his body. There was a hot white throbbing pain in the back of his head, that seemed to get worse with each wave. But what's worse, is that no one is here to help him. He doesn't know what time it is, but last time he checked the time it was only 3 in the afternoon, so for all he knew, the rest of the members wouldn't be coming home for a while. His chest felt heavy, like a weight was pushing down on it. His mind swirled with many scary thoughts, about whether he would be able to carry on life as an idol. What if he injured himself so badly that he couldn't dance anymore? Jimin couldn't help but sob at the thought. Just sat there... waiting for the others to come back...
Within that timespan he came in and out of consciousness several times, each time feeling more and more debilitated by the pain, physical and emotional. It felt like forever until he finally heard the familiar clicking sound of someone unlocking the front door. At that moment, he slipped out of consciousness, no matter how hard he tried to stay awake so he could get the others attention.
The others were all waiting patiently for Hoseok to unlock the door before they all filed in. Hoseok chucked the keys on the counter top, while the others wondered around. They all couldn't help but notice the silence of the dorm, but thought nothing of it. Jungkook went to go and have a shower, only when he got to the stairs, he let out a loud string of curse words. The others all perked up.
"Kookie? What's going on?" Jin says, rushing over. However when he saw the same sight he screamed out in shock too. At the mention of their 3rd youngests name they all ran over to see what was going on, only to see their Jimin passed out on the floor, a pool of blood by his head. Yoongi took over, internally thanking his mom for that one time she forced him to take first aid classes.
He checked for a pulse, and luckily Jimin still had one, though it was weak. He listened for breathing, and heard the tiny rasps of breath that Jimin expelled. Namjoon was already on the phone for an ambulance the moment he saw the sight.
"Jimin? Can you hear me?" Yoongi says, shaking him gently.
"Cmon buddy, you gotta wake up." His voice shook slightly as he tried so hard to stay calm. Taehyung was already a crying mess, being cradled by Hoseok as he tried to lead him away, but tae retaliated, wanting to stay so he would know that his closest friend and soulmate was alive. Namjoon bit his nails as he listened to the caller on the other end calmly giving him instructions.
"See if you can sit him up, and keep trying to wake him up, get some ice and put it on the wound to slow the bleeding, and if you can, put pressure on it. Don't be too alarmed by the amount of blood. Head wounds bleed a lot more than a normal wound. Other than that just sit tight and wait for the paramedics to arrive. I'll stay on the line with you until they arrive to make sure they get to you safely." Namjoon relayed that information to the others, and Jin quickly dashed off to the freezer, Yoongi lifted Jimin up, still gently shaking him and talking to him. Jin rushed over with a bag of frozen pease wrapped in kitchen roll, placing it on the wound. After some careful inspection they were relieved to know that the wound wasn't too big. Luckily they lived close enough that an ambulance got there in just a few minutes.
They quickly rushed over, and wasted no time giving Jimin oxygen and hooking him up to various machines and wires to read his pulse and O2 levels etc. One of the paramedics checked the wound to see how deep it was.
"That will probably need staples." She says, placing a fresh gauze on it and putting the frozen peas back on it to keep the bleeding to a minimum.
"Do you know how long he was here for?" The other paramedic asks, and they all shake their heads.
"No we only just got home. He was here alone all day." Jungkook says, biting his lip.
"He definitely needs to go to hospital. We can't get him stable here. Can one of you help me go get the stretcher up here?" Namjoon nods, volunteering himself, and he and the paramedic heads out to the ambulance.
Meanwhile the other paramedic checks his blood pressure to get an indication of roughly how much blood he'd lost, though by the huge puddle on the floor he'd clearly lost a lot.
"He'll probably need a blood transfusion, so do any of you know his blood type?"
"H-he's type O." Jin says. The paramedic hid his concern as he had to work out how to deliver this tricky news to them all.
"We don't get many donations for type O blood. I can't promise he'll be able to receive-" he was interrupted by Yoongi, desperately exclaiming "I'm type O. I'll donate my blood for him."
The paramedic just nodded, going back to caring for Jimin and making sure he's as stable as possible.
"As long as you don't have any pre-existing conditions, smoke or drink excessively, then you can." He says, and Yoongi nods in response. They all knew it wasn't the best idea though. Yes Yoongi was healthy, but he had a high metabolism, and was very skinny. Losing that amount of blood surely wouldn't do him good, but he was insistent on doing it nonetheless.
"Alright, you'll come with us in the ambulance. The rest of you will have to travel separately." They all nod, and at that point Namjoon and the paramedic come back with the gurney. They carefully lift Jimin up onto the gurney, putting his head in foam blocks to support it just incase he hurt his neck, and he was swiftly rolled off to hospital, Yoongi in the ambulance with them. He was playing with his fingers, getting nervous about having to donate his blood. That would involve getting poked with needles and he knew he wouldn't feel great after, but he would take those over Jimin dying any day.
"Once we get to the hospital we'll get you to an office so you can give blood and we can make sure all is ok after, ok?" Yoongi nods, looking over at jimin. He suddenly got a wave of realising how real this all is. Jimin was seriously injured. His chance of survival wasn't 100%. It shot like an arrow through Yoongis heart, making him take a shaky deep breath.
"Are you ok, sir?" The paramedic asked, and Yoongi nodded.
"Y-yeah it just... suddenly became real, yknow?"
"Yeah I understand, it's ok. We'll take good care of him ok?"
The others followed in a car behind the ambulance, Jin driving, with Namjoon sat next to him, and the other three sat in the back. Hoseok held a still crying tae in his arms, gently rubbing his back and shoulders in a desperate attempt to calm him down. Jungkook was staring out the windows in silence, his vision blurry from tears that he refused to wipe away. Namjoon was fiddling with his fingers listening to the pounding of his heart. Jins eyes just stayed focused on the ambulance that was far ahead of them at this point.
As soon as they arrived Yoongi was ushered away to an office while Jimin was being briskly whisked away. Next thing he knew he was sat down on a chair with his arm up, a nurse tapping on the inside of his elbow to find a vein. He used his other hand to cover his eyes, and his face scrunched up as he felt the scratch of needle being inserted. The whole time he was just telling himself it's for Jimin.
"Just stay like that for a few minutes ok?" The nurse says after taping the tube to his arm to keep it secure.
The other waited nervously in the waiting room, lots of legs bouncing and fingers fiddling. Tae was still a sobbing mess; he'd dry out soon with all the tears he'd lost from crying so much.
"H-h-hyung what if he.... he..." tae chokes out, grabbing at the fabric of Hoseoks shirt.
"Ssshhh Taetae honey you have to stop crying you're gonna wear yourself out." Hoseok replies, rubbing his back. If tae kept going this way he'd end up passing out and needing medical help too, and they definitely didn't want that. But there was just no way to stop tae from crying. His best friend in the whole world was on his death bed, and there was no hiding from that truth. There was no way to sugar coat it, or dilute it, make it easier to digest. So they just had to do their best to stay calm and try to calm tae down.
Yoongi was starting to get dizzy and tired, and he looked over, happy to see the bag was nearly full.
"this better save you, Jimin." he mumbled to himself. A nurse came in, and confirmed that the bag was full, and took the needle out of his arm.
"Theres a cookie and some Juice there to get you're sugar levels up after losing all that blood ok? I've just gotta go take this to the lab and i'll come back and make sure you're ok, ok?" She said, putting the bag into an insulated back to keep it cold and ready for Jimin. She left, and yoongi looked over at the tacky hospital cookie and juice and rolls his eyes. He doesn't want to have to eat it, but seeing so much blood and knowing it all came out of him, he knew he had to. Besides the dizzy spells were getting worse, anything to stop those he would gladly take.
The nurse came back in a few minutes later, along with a doctor.
"Hi Min Yoongi, is that right?" Yoongi nods.
"I'm just gonna check you over and make sure everythings ok. You donated a lot of blood. But i'm glad to say that it has greatly helped in the recovery of your friend Jimin. He's already showing improvements." Yoongi felt his heart skip with relief. "ok. First off, have you been feeling dizzy at all?" The doctor asks.
"Umm, a little." Yoongi replies. It was a little bit of a white lie though. In reality he felt very dizzy, but he wasn't about to admit that. The doctor then swung his stethoscope from around his neck and put it in his ears, placing the bell on Yoongi's chest. He could hear his heart beating fast, but that was expected. He grabbed the blood pressure cuff and measured his blood pressure. Low, as expected.
"Ok, i think you'll be ok as long as you make sure to rest. If anything changes just call for someone and they'll come and help you. Otherwise, you can go back to your friends in the waiting room." The doctor said before leaving with a bow.
"will you be alright to walk?" The nurse asks, to be sure.
"Yeah i'll be fine-" Yoongi says as he stands up, but get's cut off when he unexpectedly collapsed on the floor. He'd been sitting down this whole time so he didn't realise how weak his legs were.
"Are you ok?" The nurse asks, helping him up. Yoongi nods, sitting back down onto the chair.
"I'll go get a wheelchair for you ok? I'll only be a second." Before Yoongi could stop her she was out the door. He didn't want to be in a wheelchair. It would only give the others more to worry about.
She get's back quickly and wheels Yoongi out to the waiting room where the others wait, and their eyes widened at the sight of Yoongi in a wheelchair. What had happened? They were all thinking.
"Yoongi? Are you ok what happened?" Namjoon asked.
"I'm ok don't worry. I'm just a little weak from losing so much blood. I'm ok." he assures.
"Yeah, he'll be fine in a little while, he just needs to rest." the nurse says, before leaving them to see if she can get them an update on Jimin. They definitely need it.
They all just sat in silence, other than tae's sobs and hoseoks comforting words.
Jimin, meanwhile, was going through a lot. He was intubated the moment he arrived at the hospital to get his oxygen levels up, and they checked him over for any other external injuries other than the head injury, which was promptly stapled up. He was then put through various scans and x-rays to see exactly what damage had been done, all while receiving Yoongi's blood. Thankfully he remained unconscious through all that. It would have been horrible if he had woken up in an MRI machine not knowing where he was.
The nurse went back to the others in the waiting room, which was pretty empty now at this time in the night.
"I have some news about Jimin." she says, and their heads all turn to her, their eyes wide, especially tae's.
"...he's doing ok so far. He hasn't woken up yet, but on the positive side, his vitals are stable. He's been through several scans and unfortunately there is a fair amount of damage done, but its hard to tell how much this will effect him in the future. But what I can say is, for now at least, he is alive, and it should stay that way." They all don't really know what to do with that information. They're all so glad to hear that he's alive at least, but all their fears of him not being able to continue as an idol with them are starting to become a little more real.
"Ok, thank you nurse." Namjoon says, breaking the silence.
"Are you all ok? Do you need anything? There's a cafeteria down the hall if you need anything to eat or drink."
"I think we're ok, thank you nurse." Namjoon says with a polite smile, and she smiles and bows, going back to help with Jimin.
Tae's sobs had quietened a little, but he still clung on for dear life to hoseok, and hoseok hugged him tight, slowly rocking from side to side. It only took a few minutes before tae was finally pulled into a slumber, too exhausted from all the crying. Hoseok still continued to rock, in hopes that it would keep tae in that slumber for longer.
All the scans were over, and all the doctors had confirmed that there was nothing left they could do to improve Jimin's condition. It was up to him now; it was up to his body recovering on its own. It would be a long, slow process. They moved Jimin into a proper bed and moved him into a room of his own, where he would likely be staying for the next month at he very least, if not longer.
The nurse went back to the guys in the waiting room. And their heads perked up the moment she walked in.
"Jimin has been moved in to a room now. We've done all we can for him for now. The rest of the healing process is up to him. You can go visit him." She says, keeping her voice down as she sees tae asleep.
Hoseok carefully stands up lifting tae up with him, who thankfully stays asleep. Yoongi also stands up, having got the feeling back in his legs. He was still rather tired though. They all tiredly trudged to the room, following the nurse. It had been a long day for all of them that's for sure.
The whole room was silent other than the beeping of the heart monitor, as they all stood and took in the sight before them. Jimins head was wrapped in bandages, his skin was pale and sullen, dark circles showing clearly under his eyes. His whole body was practically covered in bandages, and he had a neck brace on. It would have been nearly comical if it wasn't so real. Hoseok carefully placed tae on the couch to the side of the room, and the nurse handed them a pillow and a blanket. Yoongi sat down on a stool next to the bed, since his legs were still a little weak. The others just stood in silence.
"We don't really know at this point when he will wake up. It could be an hour it could be a day we just don't know." The nurse says, and they all nodded solemnly.
"Are you sure you guys don't want anything from the cafeteria? You haven't eaten the whole time you've been here. I don't want another 6 patients to deal with." She says with a chuckle.
"I think we're all too shaken to even feel hunger right now." Namjoon says, scratching the back of his head. "Maybe we'll go in a bit."
"Ok. Take this with you when you do. Then you can get it all for free." The nurse says, handing him a small paper ticket.
"Ok, thank you nurse." Namjoon says, putting it in his pocket.
"If he wakes up make sure to call for us immediately." She says, before bowing and leaving them all be.
—— time skip cause I'm lazy ——
After a month of tough, and tiring recovery, Jimin was slowly coming back around. He had to relearn how to talk, and when he was told he would have a permanent stutter, he was devastated to say the least, but much to his delight, he can sing perfectly fine with no stutter to be heard. The real heartbreak though came from hearing he would probably never dance again. He would be able to do the more low-key dances, but the harder ones would just be too risky. He's a fragile person now, and he had to adapt to this new life. For now, he was only able to walk with a walker, and they were regularly working on that in therapy, but therapy was so exhausting and Jimin was starting to get tired of it. He just wanted to walk.
One day, when Jimin was feeling really down after a tough therapy session, he was visited by Yoongi and Namjoon, carrying large cases that Jimin recognised to be recording equipment.
"H-h-hyungs... w-w-what is t-that?" Jimin asked.
"Well you may not be able to dance right now, but we know you can sing." Yoongi says with a smirk, setting up all the equipment while Namjoon opens up the laptop and plays the demo version of the song and Jimin smiles. It sounds amazing. He giggles at the sound of Yoongi trying to hit the high notes, yet at the same time he can't help but tear up at the lyrics.
(I'm just making these up btw they aren't real bts lyrics)
Even if we fall,
We get back up again
We push through thick and thin
With our friends by our side
We won't let anything get in our way,
Cause we never walk alone,
Nothing can old me back.
I am bulletproof.
"You ok jiminie?" Namjoon says, after seeing Jimin wipe tears away.
"Yeah i-I-I-it's just.... th-th-the lyr-r-rics..." Jimin replies. "Who r-r-wrote it?"
"All of us did. A combined effort." Namjoon replied.
"Ok, if you wanna give it a few tries then we'll record it." Yoongi says, positioning the mic on its stand so it was in front of Jimin. They played the track once more with the demo, Jimin singing along. Then once without the demo, and then they recorded it, a few times over til' everyone was happy.
"T-t-thanks so m-m-m-much for bringing this-s all o-over hyungs. It m-m-means a l-lot to b-b-b-be able to s-s-s-s...s-s-sing ag-g-gain." Jimin says, his eyes glossy.
"Of course jiminie, you're still a part of bts after all. Even though we've taken a hiatus we still wanted to make something for the fans and it felt important that we include you in it. They're all worried about you." Yoongi says, gently ruffling Jimins hair. Namjoon kept up a conversation with Jimin while Yoongi packed everything back up, and before long the time came when they had to leave. Jimins heart sank. He wish they could stay here with him always, but unfortunately hospital rules say people are only allowed to visit for limited times.
After a week or so of mixing, the song is released out to fans, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to charities that help provide funding for hospitals all around the country, as a thank you for how much they have helped Jimin. Some would say it's unfair that Jimins section only came at the end, but it was a nice surprise for the fans. Everyone was raving about how their heart skipped a beat when they heard Jimins voice at the end. It just wouldn't have been the same. Just at the end of the song, when the beat stops and it's just the piano, the softness of Jimins voice singing the sweet final melody was enough to send anyone into heaps of goosebumps and tears. Even Jimin teared up when he heard it himself, especially hearing all the other lyrics. Yoongis verse filled with raw emotions, telling the story up straight. Namjoons introspective lyrics offering metaphors and symbolism to make anyone's heart swell. Hoseoks verse mixing the cheerful with the real. It sent Jimin into tears. That day at his therapy session he tried extra hard. He wanted to walk. He just wanted to be able to walk out of there and back to the dorm where he belonged. And thanks to that motivation, he had a breakthrough. He took a few steps, without holding onto anything. Yes it was hard, but it was a huge breakthrough. And so for the first time in months, he showed himself to fans, on vlive.
"H-h-hi ever-r-ryone, it-t-ts j-j-j-jiminie!"
Aaaaaand that's it. What a rollercoaster. Went in some places I didn't expect it to go, but I think it came out pretty good in the end.
Also I should have mentioned this ages ago but it's been over a year since I started this book! Wow time flies. What a journey it has been. Thanks to everyone for all the support since day 1 to now ☺️
Anyway, imma get started writing another chapter now hehe, I'm so eager to get stuff out to y'all.
See ya in the next one!
안녕!!!! 👋🏻
