It was the boys' favourite time of the year. The time to film their summer package, this year in Kota Kinabalu.

Now, when they were told that they were going on a banana boat, let's just say not all of them were as excited as Jungkook. Hoseok and Yoongi, both of whom aren't very fond of water, weren't that excited, but there was nothing they could do about it, so they just put on a brave face and got on with it.

They all lined up with their life jackets on and filmed a quick section talking about what they're about to do and how excited they are. Jungkook was happily bouncing while Hoseok was biting his lips with nerves. He would be flying through the water on a boat at crazy speeds, not something Hoseok was too keen on. He looks over at the body of water they'd be flying over and saw all the waves, the choppiness of the water. It doesn't look safe. He thought. But the next thing he knew he was already being ushered to the boat.

Hoseok hides his anxiety and pretends to be his usually bubbly self, messing around with the maknaes. They climbed on the boat one by one, and the staff jokingly pulled him while he was hanging on to the boat. That definitely didn't help his nerves. But no one had fallen off. At least not yet. The boat took off, at a slower speed to begin with, each of them clinging on to the handles. Hoseok plastered a smile on his face, although inside, his heart was beating hard and fast, full of anxiety.

The boat driver shouts to them that they're gonna go faster, and Hoseok instinctively grips the handle tighter, inhaling sharper. They turned a sharp corner and flew over a wave, throwing everyone off. They all screamed in excitement, apart from one.

Hoseok took in a sharp inhale of breath in shock, only to find he was already in the water. He inhaled water straight into his lungs, and in an attempt to cough it out, just inhaled more water. Wait, why am I sinking? I thought I had a life jacket on? He moved his hand to his chest only to feel no life jacket there. He looked up to see his life jacket, floating above him. He started thrashing forcefully to try and push himself to the surface, but just as he's about to break through, a strong wave pushes more water down his throat, and he falls back down again. At that point he already felt tiredness taking over as the stinging pain in his chest turned to numbness.

They all climbed out of the boat, laughing and joking. It was all so fun for them.
"I thought I was the only one who was thrown off!" Yoongi says happily. They all speak excitedly until someone speaks up.
"Wait, where's Hoseok?" One of the staff says. The others look around, noticing he's not come out yet. They all look into the water and see his life vest, floating in the water, but no Hoseok.
"H-he can swim, right?" One of the staffs asks.
"Of course he can!" Yoongi replies. Jungkook starts laughing.
"Haha funny prank Hoseok! You got us! You can come out now!" He shouted. No response.
"Hoseok come out already!" Yoongi shouts, annoyed. Silence.
"Guys I'm getting kinda worried..." Jin says, nervously.
"That's just your motherly instincts kicking in, he's fine Hyung he's just pranking us!" Tae says with a giggle, softly elbowing Jin.
"Yeah but, it's been a minute or so since we were thrown off and he hasn't even come up for air yet?" They all freeze. He's right. How could he possibly hold his breath for that long?
"We gotta find him and get him outta there!" Jin shouts, about to go in himself, before he's stopped.
"It's ok a lifeguard is going." Yoongi says, holding his arm out in front of jin. They watch as a lifeguard dives in with a ring, and he disappears beneath the water. They all hold their breath, waiting for the lifeguard to swim back up with Hoseok safe in his arms. Well, they don't quite get what they wanted. The lifeguard comes out, holding Hoseok in his arms. But Hoseok isn't safe. He's limp, not breathing. The lifeguard pulls him onto the boat and immediately starts doing cpr on him, trying to get the water out of his lungs. He also checks for a heartbeat, and luckily they were just quick enough; he still had one, just about. The lifeguard pushes hard against his chest, willing him to start coughing up water at some point. All the members watch in shock. They thought it was just a prank. Some of them hoped it was still just a prank.

Eventually after a while of chest compressions, Hoseok harshly coughs, water spewing from his mouth. The lifeguard lifts him, rolling him into his front, doing something similar to the Heimlich maneuver, getting him to cough up more and more water. It was extremely shocking to the rest to see just how much water he had in his lungs. Once he finally gets most of it out, enough to breath at least, he chokes out a few wet breaths, still unconscious. The lifeguard lays him back on his side, saying they need to get him to a hospital ASAP.

One of the managers calls an ambulance while the boat quickly rushes back to shore. What had this day turned into. The ambulance quickly whisks Hoseok away, leaving the rest of the boys in shock to process what just happened. Amongst the awkward silence, they started hearing sobs. All the heads turned towards the noise, to see Jungkook crouching down, his head in his hands. They all send him a look of sympathy, and Jimin walks to him and gives him a back hug and starts stroking his hair softly.
"It's-.... all-... my-... fault-...." he says in between sobs, his voice shaky.
"Sssshhhhh no Jungkook." Jimin says so softly it's almost a whisper. "It's no ones fault. It's just a freak accident." Jimin added a little louder so the others could hear it too.
"B-But I'm the one who-... thought he was pranking us..." he says, once again in between sharp intakes of breath that sounded more like wheezes.
"That's ok. You didn't do anything wrong kookie. We all make silly mistakes sometimes but it's perfectly ok." Jimin says, leaning to the side slightly to look more at his face. "Now come on we need to get to the hospital." He said, patting Jungkook on the shoulder and standing up. Jungkook sniffed and nodded, and stood up to go get changed. The others followed. As much as they wanted to get there immediately, sitting it wet clothes wasn't exactly desirable, so they all got changed super quickly before heading off to the hospital.

Meanwhile, at the hospital.
Hoseok started to wake up, but he could only hear the sounds around him and feel. He was paralysed. He felt needle after needle being jabbed into his arm, but that was nothing compared to what came next. Since there was still water in his lungs, they had to use a small tube to go into his lungs and suck it all out. It seemed to last forever; they made sure they got all of the water out. This meant going into each little crevasse of his lungs. And the whole time he couldn't breath. The whole time it's sucking the water out, his lungs are forcing him to breath out, even when he has no air left. And this lasted for a long time. When he finally gained his strength back about halfway through and his fingers twitched, a nurse noticed.
"Oh, he's awake! I saw his fingers twitch! Should we administer anaesthetic?" She asked. The doctor replied.
"Yes, bring the anaesthesiologist in here." He pulled the tube out and Hoseok could finally breathe. By the way he took deep gasps they knew he was awake for the whole process. The next thing he knew he felt an oxygen mask on his face, and someone fiddling with the cannula on the back of his hand, and he slowly drifted off again.

The others rushed into the hospital, hoping someone there at least speaks English.
"H-hi" Namjoon rushed to the front desk.
"Our friend was taken here in an ambulance not long ago." He says, praying that they can understand him. Luckily, they can.
"Ok what was his name?"
"H-Hoseok. Hoseok Jung."
"Ok I'll let them know that you're here and they'll come and tell you if and when you can see him."
"Ok thank you so much"
"Take a seat over there" the woman behind the desk motions to the chairs in the waiting area. There aren't quite enough for all six of them and their manager that came with them, so some of them have to sit on the floor or on one another's lap. Jungkook was sat on Jimins lap, who was babying him, bouncing him softly while Jungkook sniffles and cries. Taehyung was sat on the floor right by Jin's feet, resting his head on Jin's lap as he strokes his hair comfortingly. Yoongi sat with his feet up on the chair, staring off into the distance and zoning off, tears lining his eyes.
Namjoon had offered to sit on the floor so their manager wouldn't have to. They all sat worriedly as anticipation took over.

A nurse came out and called for the family of Hoseok Jung. They all perked up, and she explained that a few of them, not all of them, should go and speak to his doctor. Their nerves take over wondering if something serious had happened. Namjoon and the manager went, dragging along Yoongi who insisted he went too, and followed the nurse through the corridors to an office.

"Hi, welcome." He said warmly, bowing to them and offering them a seat.
"So. Hoseok Jung was brought in after drowning in a lake," He says, reading all the papers in front of him. "He just got out of a minor procedure, they just used suction to get the rest of the water out of his lungs. He is just recovering now. When he wakes up we'll have to give him a tetanus shot, and also breathing might be a bit painful to begin with, but we'll prescribe some painkillers that he can take to help with that and he'll be fine fairly soon. He got very lucky that he was saved in time and didn't suffer cardiac arrest or any brain damage." They all sigh a breath of relief that he will be ok, and no major damage was done.
"So how long will he have to stay here in hospital?" Namjoon asks.
"Uhh, we'll keep him here for a few days probably just to monitor things. If he shows significant improvement, then we may let him out before then." The doctor says, and they all let out an internal sigh of relief.
"C-can we see him?" Yoongi asks shyly.
"Yes of course, he's in room 46a"
"Thank you sir" Namjoon says as they stand up, ready to dash to Hoseoks room.

They run back to the others saying they can see Hoseok and they all start running down the corridor to find Hoseoks room.
"Here! 46a right?" Jimin shouts, having run ahead.
"Yeah." Namjoon shouts back, worn out from all the running. Jimin looks through the small window in the door and sees Hoseok lying in bed, attached to various wires and machines.
"H-he doesn't look good." Jimin says, a bit taken aback.
"It's ok Jiminie, most of its just precautions. He's fine" Jimin just nods and carefully opens the door.

Hoseok is still knocked out when they get there, but is just starting to wake up. When they enter the room they can hear his soft groans and wheezing. Jimin heart clenches at the sound, and the sight. Why did this have to happen to their Hoseokie. Yoongi walks over to the side of the bed and takes his hand. The others noticed the two were extremely close these days, so didn't really question it.
"Hoseok-a.... wake up... please..." Yoongi asked desperately, his voice shaking, and a tear manages to escape. They can hear Hoseok let out a sigh, knowing he'd heard Yoongi. He was trying. Yoongi reached up, stroking his hair gently, hoping that might help to pull him out of his slumber. But they still get nothing.
"Why isn't he waking up?" Yoongi says, his voice shaking even more, more tears spilling out.
"It's ok Yoongi it's just the anaesthetic. He'll wake up soon. Just be patient yeah?" Jimin says, gently backhugging yoongi. At that point a nurse walks in, just to check on him, and sees he's still asleep.
"Oh, is he still asleep?" She ask. Yoongi nods, quickly wiping away his tears.
"Y-Yeah is that a bad thing? He should be awake by now right?" He asks, his voice still wobbly.
"No no it's ok, I'll just get some medication to put in his IV that will help wake him up. I'll be back in a sec." She says, walking out the door again, and the others wait patiently for her to come back.
"You hear that Yoongi? She said he'll be just fine. You don't have to worry." Jimin says, rubbing Yoongi's back.
"Yeah yeah I know it's whatever." Yoongi said, trying to recover his chill and careless side. He sits back, wiping away the last of his tears.

At that point the nurse comes back in with the medication and promptly puts it into his IV.
"He should wake up in about 5 minutes or so. Be sure to call for us when he wakes up so we can give him the tetanus shot and check him over."
"Ok thank you," Jimin says, bowing as the nurse leaves the room.

Shall I make this two parts? Imma do it anyway cause it's getting long and I just want to release something, plus it just seems like a good place to end so 😂😂 thanks so much to Mxnon24 who helped give me some ideas when I was going through writers block. They helped a lot. Surprisingly enough I don't have much else to say 🤷🏻‍♀️ I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and imma get writing the next one!!!
