hello all, long time no see :)

i'm not here to say i'll be writing sickfics again (unfortunately, as much as i'd love to), but i just have a couple things i want to say. 

firstly, completely unrelated, I posted a quick story on my ao3 about autistic jungkook with Bam as his service dog and i was thinking of posting it here so lemme know if you want that. 

Secondly, i want to talk about something that i've kept inside for a little while, and i feel like i've just come to a point where i want to speak out on it. And get yourself a cuppa tea cause this is some tea....

On the 6th of february 2020, i posted a short A/N as you can see below (as evidence that i'm not lying) 

I had made a discord server for the sickfic community after noticing many of the same people in my comments. I had even mentioned before hand in an A/N at some point that i wanted to make a group chat or something. Eventually i made this server, and posted that chapter to advertise it and welcome new members. (If you are wanting to join, i guess you still can, but its not how it used to be. Most of the time its just a hang out spot for me and my friend group, but if you really want to join you can. Otherwise i recommend joining my server for Neurodiverse ARMY which has more of a community than the sickfic server.)

I made that server on the 6th. I'm pretty sure i made it fast, within a day, though it is way over a year ago now so i don't remember, but anyway, thats irrelevant. 

Lots of people joined, though a lot of you were just working out how to use discord, and it became a nice little community. 

That server has a special place in my heart, as it is where i met my best friends, and my now partner, river (moonchild_hobi), Mya (MyaDee), and my partner Seb (LittleSpoonSebastian). These are the people i consider my closest friends now, I love them all dearly. I'm so happy i made that server because otherwise I would never have met these wonderful people (love yall ;) )

Now i'm hesitant to use names, because frankly i don't want to start conflict, i just want to speak out on something that has bothered me for a while, but i feel like it won't be hard for y'all to work out. 

so, for reference, this is how my server looks now, in terms of the chats that are there.

anyway, yeah, thats what it looks like. 

Now, i remember one day, one of the members of that server, dm-ing me asking if i wanted to be an admin for their new server. Of course i said "sure" and joined their server, only to notice something. 

It looked very similar to mine. 

It had a lot of the same chats, almost identical in name, just maybe laid out slightly differently. The only real difference is they have 1000 roleplay chats, half of which aren't used, and many of their other chats are not used either. 

I also want to mention, the name of their server "The Ouchie Organisation", includes the word "ouchie" which is based of a conversation i had, including them, im pretty sure, where we first came up with the term "ouchies" for that feeling you get when you read a sickfic and get that pang in your chest. If i can find that moment, i will definitely add it in here, as proof.

but arguably this is the first time i used it in that context

(also yes my nickname on discord is beomgyus wolf cut sssh)

(also it feels weird to be talking so seriously about the term "ouchies" lmao)

but anyway, All of us who regularly use this term agree that i was the one to first use this term and i guess "coin" it (unofficially). 

also i should mention i am british so the dates on there are in dd/mm/yyyy form, not mm/dd/yyyy. 

take note of those dates. 

Anyway, I claim the term "ouchies" as my own, not in an "its mine and only i can use it" way, but just i would like the credit that i was the one who first used it in that context with that definition to it. 

Then i joined this server called "the ouchie organisation" with no mention anywhere that it's my term, i saw their advertisement for their server, no mention of the fact it is my term. No mention to the fact that i also have a BTS sickfic community server. 

you can see by the date there that it was clearly made after my server. Mine was made in february of 2020. This one was made in january of 2021. Nearly a whole year later. its clear they didn't think of this first.

I was confused as to why they decided to make their own server, when i have one that is perfectly good. I don't see anything wrong with it anyway. If there was something wrong, i would have been completely open to feedback. 

All my other friends made their own servers, with their own purposes separate to mine. I was fine, because they had different purposes, and didn't use a word that i created without credit. 

so then i got confused when i was invited to their server only to see it had so many identical chats, had the exact same purpose, and didn't mention mine anywhere in their promotion. not even an "oh by the way, nerdycookie01/agoodwasteoftime inspired me to make this" or anything. 

if you can't notice the similarities, go back and look at mine again. 

they have an "announcements" chat, and so do i (though that is a pretty common chat to have in a server, so i can't point a finger for that one.)

"pet-tings" is the same as my "our-pets" chat.

"school-tings" is the same as my "school-chat"

"Multi-zone" is the same as my "multi_chat" 

"little-room" is the same as my "smol-chat"

"neurodiversity-central" is the same as my "autism-chat"

"tmi-zone" is the same as my "tmi-chat"

"binge-watch-chat" is essentially the same as my "show-spoilers" chat

we used to have a "concert-chat" before it was deleted after not being used. (their concert chat has not been used either...)

"favorite-sick-moments" is the same as my "bts_sick_moments" chat (which also has not been used, by the way) 

they also have a "creative-contributions" chat, which is the same as my "armys-creations" chat, "selfie-central" which is the same as my "selca-channel", they have chats for all the members and an OT7 chat, just like i do. They have a support area, that also has support tickets and two rant chats. 

they also have two "ouchies" emotes, very similar to the ones in my server. 

I'm not trying to say that each thing on its own is copying, because its not. I know i have gained inspiration from other servers in how i've laid out my own. Its fine. Its just the fact that they have so many things that are the same, the channel names are almost identical in a lot of cases. 

I also i could go through and count how many of these chats are also empty, but its half 11 at night and i don't fancy wasting my time on that. 

Part of the reason i feel comfortable coming out and saying this is they seem to have just cut off all contact from me and my friend group. 

Most importantly i want to say, if you know who this person is, don't go harrassing them or anything. Thats not what i'm trying to achieve. I just wanted to show what this person has done, and take credit where credit is due. I want to take credit for what was mine originally. I want to get the recognition i deserve for my creations. This isn't a legal issue because none of this is official or financial, but if it was, this would be a legal issue, and i want you to know that. Copying is not in any way cool or good. Just don't do it. Its fine to take inspiration, i know i do it somewhat subconsciously sometimes, but at the very least give the original creator credit. If you're not sure if you need to, just do it anyway out of kindeness. it's not like any of us are making money, so you don't have much to lose by crediting original creators. 

As i said, my other friends have all created their own servers, seperate from mine. We helped each other to develop ideas for servers that are different, so its not copying. I know that making servers is fun, and its nice to feel some sort of ownership over something, and thats fine. I'm not mad at them for making a server. I'm mad at them for basically taking my server, putting their name on it, just switching up a few names and claiming it as their own without even mentioning me at all. I would have gladly helped them develop their own server if they asked. I would have gladly allowed them to give suggestions for my own server if they asked. 

Some might say "well why did they invite you to be admin if they were blatantly copying, surely they wouldn't have wanted you to see?"

well i ask myself that too. Maybe its because they were hoping we would all transfer over to their server and that mine would be abandoned? maybe they thought their server was better and wanted to show it off to me? who knows. But the point is, they took a lot of essentially creative work, that was originally mine, and came from my brain, and reconstructed their own, without a word about my original creations. I guess its like if someone traced over the mona lisa. They paint it with their own paint, they painted it, but its still a clear copy of the original. Its still clear it wasn't an idea that sprouted in their brain, and yet they parade their work proudly, without ever mentioning Da Vinci. 

Anyway, that's all i have to say for now. Again, don't go starting any arguments or harrassing anyone. Thats not what i want from this. I just want you all to know and learn, how frustrating plagiarism and copying is. Its fine to be inspired, its fine to model your work off someone elses, but ask them first, im sure they'd be glad to help you if you need it, or at the very least credit them, so they can also get the recognition they deserve for their creative efforts.

On another note, will i ever write sickfics again? who knows. I think for now its best to consider this book finished. But i will never not be thankful to all of you for reading and enjoying my work in the meantime.
