Dying embers -MYG

Pairing: Min Yoongi x Female reader

Summary: Life is not easy for everyone, like we always think it is. It never is. For you and your husband too.

Warnings: Sad fluff, I think.

-

When you and Yoongi met, you both were at the weakest point of your lives, about to give up on yourselves.

Sure, he got you both out of depression. And you know what was the therapy? Losing your first kiss to each other.

Honestly, you could've slapped him that day. But looking at that lazy and pouty expression, it just seemed more interesting to stare at his lil meow meow face. It could have been like in the cliché dramas.

Well, it could've.

Deliver newspapers in the morning, dishwasher by afternoon, and deliver evening magazines again. This is Yoongi's daily work.

When life is not easy, we think we've done something wrong or become a victim.

But think back over the struggles in the lives of others. Do you believe that you're the only victim?

Being unable to feed yourselves, no family or friends to ask if you were okay, insecurity from not knowing when the next meal will come, or how you will pay for it, and shame at having to go without. None of you can truly rest.

Yesterday, the small company you were working in had to shut down when the owner was charged with some bribery cases.

Despite you and Yoongi being graduates, it's just simply hard for you both to find a job out in the cruel world.

Your husband is the sole breadwinner of the family now.

He has to find a job for him, if he wants a roof above his head and yours.

Leaning his bicycle against the cracked wall of the small house, Yoongi covered his head from the rain, using his hand, as he finally got inside through the front door.

Removing his wet shoes and placing them aside, he noticed the leaking roof by the corner of the small room, and a bucket on the floor straight to it.

"You're home" you said while coming out of the only other room in the house, a tiny kitchen, apart from the small room Yoongi was standing in and the bathroom, low-key startling the pale skinned man.

"Aegi, you scared the living life out of me" he said and sighed before walking towards you.

"Have you eaten dinner yet?" your husband asked and you shook your head as a no.

"I was waiting for you" you answered before going back inside the kitchen as Yoongi changed his wet clothes- yes, in the same room.

Shirtless, he sat on the floor as you took the small bowl of rice and sat beside him.

"I'll feed you" your husband offered like always before taking the bowl from you, starting to feed you with the spoon.

Halfway through eating, you stopped him.

"You've to eat too" you said after swallowing the rice fed to you.

"I'm not hungry" Yoongi assured you with a smile, but the very next growl coming from his stomach said otherwise.

Watching the little pout on his face, you laughed a little, still leaning your back against the wall as you started feeding him.

After getting finished with the handful of rice that was for dinner, Yoongi volunteered to do the dishes.

"The landlady was here this afternoon" you started. "We still have to pay the rent".

"I'm getting paid tomorrow. I'll give her the money before coming back home" Yoongi said, wiping his hands with the towel and you nodded your head.

As he walked to the mattress that was laid on the floor of the other room, you followed him.

Silently taking a deep breath, you sat beside Yoongi on the mattress as he was getting ready to sleep.

Placing the pillow (-the only one you both have in the house) in the right position, your husband looked at you.

"I'm pregnant" you let out and Yoongi's senses froze for a moment.

Five minutes later~

"When did you find out?" he finally said something and you looked at him.

"Last evening" you said. "My childhood friend, she's a doctor. I visited her this morning" you said.

"How long?" your husband asked.

"Three months" you answered, feeling a bit unsure of how he'd react.

Looking down at your lap, insecure, you started fiddling with your fingers slowly.

"Hey, sugar" Yoongi said, noticing your gloomy aura as he held your chin to make you look into his eyes.

"I'm happy, okay?" he spoke. "This baby might be unplanned. So what? We still love our little one".

"As much as we want to plan our life, it has a way of surprising us with unexpected things that will make us happier than we really planned" he stated, cupping your cheeks.

"We can handle this. Got it?" Yoongi asked once again and you nodded, making him smile as he leaned in to place a soft kiss on your lips, assuring you that it was going to be okay.

"I love you" he whispered against your lips, making sure that you felt the sincerity in his words like always.

"I love you too" you whispered back, letting that gummy smile appear on his face.

Bending down his head, Yoongi kissed your clothed stomach, caressing it softly.

"No wonder you looked pale like me" he said and you slapped his arm.

"That's called pregnancy glow" you corrected him with an angry but cute pout, making him chuckle as he started talking with his little one growing inside of you.

For Yoongi, this baby is a blessing given by the heavens and it's his precious baby, whom he wants to teach piano lessons or just spend their free time sleeping.

To him, you both are pregnant now. You're carrying the baby in your womb, while he's going to carry the little one in his heart from now, forever.

After ten minutes of talking to the baby with small giggles and kissing your tiny baby bump, your husband decided that it was time for you three to sleep as he laid back on the mattress with you, pulling the blanket above to cover yourselves.

The thin blanket that you both had was never enough for the night's coldness.

But there was no choice. You and Yoongi learnt to live with it.

A pair of arms sneaked around your waist, pulling you closer to the nearest source of warmth.

You buried your face in his neck, arms wrapping around and gripping his hair like you both loved it.

Placing a kiss on your head, "Sleep" Yoongi mumbled and you nodded, closing your eyes.

Many months later~

"You look good in formal shirt, you know" you said as you finished buttoning your husband's shirt.

Smiling a little, Yoongi caressed your nine month old baby bump as you did his tie.

"I have a feeling that you'll get this job, for real" you stated. "Your dream job" you added. Well, a permanent job.

"How?" Yoongi asked and you looked up at him.

"Because Nunjoon said so in my dream" you answered with a smile.

An hour later~

This wasn't completely normal. But, yeah. It was.

While waiting to be called in for the interview, Yoongi kept fiddling with his fingers, something which is very unlikely of him, taking a few deep breaths now and then to keep himself calm.

He low-key felt like a high school girl on her first date with her crush.

"Aish" he said silently under his breath. He could've managed all these months with just his old way of working.

But he had to get this job if he, now, wanted a roof above your, your baby's, and his head.

Feeling the phone in his pocket vibrate, Yoongi's eyebrows frowned a little before he took it out.

Swiping to answer the call, he whispered, "He-"

"Daegu boy! Y/n went into labor!" the familiar voice of his old aged neighbour burst out into the phone.

"What?!" Yoongi exclaimed and the few people in the hallway looked at him. "Sorry" he apologized meekly before whispering, "What?".

"You dumb idiot! You want me to repeat again?!" she yelled to the extent that your husband thought that his eardrums would explode.

"No, I mean- How? She's due next week" he said, slightly panicking before he heard your voice.

"Min freaking Yoongi!" you called his name.

"Aegi-"

"Don't you dare leave that interview and come here. You're going to get that job while I pop out this human" you said sternly along with your heavy breaths before hanging up.

"Pop out?" Yoongi whispered to himself as he put his phone back in his pocket.

"Mr.Min Yoongi" a voice said from the end of the hallway, signaling that it was his turn.

Another hour later~

Reaching the hospital's address that was texted to him from your phone, your husband loosened his tie as he dashed across the road to enter the building.

Stopping by the receptionist's desk while panting, he said your name, asking for the room you were in.

He thanked the woman as he got his answer, taking the stairs, not having the patience to wait for the elevator.

"Mister, are you searching for something?" a nurse passing by the corridors asked and Yoongi stopped on his tracks for a moment before nodding his head.

"My way back home" he said with a small smile and ran to the room you were in, leaving the middle aged woman confused.

Barging inside the hospital room, your husband found you lying on the bed, awake, a baby in the hospital crib, while your neighbour, the ajumma, was asleep on the couch.

Yoongi's mouth parted as he took slow steps towards you both.

"You gave birth so soon?" those were the first words that came out of his mouth.

"My contractions started right when I woke up in the morning" you said nonchalantly.

"Why didn't you tell me?" he asked, downhearted that he couldn't be there the whole time.

"You wouldn't have left if I did" you answered as Yoongi finally reached your side of the bed.

He stared at you in adoration for a few more moments until soft grunts were heard from the newborn.

"I haven't got to hold him yet" you said as he walked towards the crib, carefully taking the baby in his arms.

Your son was so small, had such beautiful skin and eyes, like his father.

Once he was laid at his chest, there was something so indescribable that Yoongi couldn't begin to say what it was like other than pure relief, love and protectiveness which comes with having a baby.

As much as your husband was terrified that he'd drop him, he didn't want to let him go.

"Hello, Mini Min Min" Yoongi whispered before walking towards you.

"You're forgetting someone" you said and he chuckled before kissing the little boy's head, handing him to you.

The sight of you holding Mini Min Min was an overwhelming torrent of emotion for your husband.

When he laid his eyes on both of you, he burst into tears. All the tension and worry prior gave way to relief. His baby was safe. His wife was safe.

"You look like a giant crybaby" you laughed out a little as Yoongi sat beside you on the bed.

"That's okay" he said to you while his miniature version kept staring at him. "He's born with swag too" he added.

"By the way, I got the job" your husband said, still having a staring competition with his son while you looked at him. "You know, that job where I can earn more than enough and spend even more time with you" he said in a low voice and then looked up at you.

"And our Mini Min Min" he added with a gummy smile, pecking your lips and then pulling away a little.

"We still have to choose a name for him" you said and Yoongi pouted.

"Why? I thought that we already agreed on Min Min" he protested, ready to return to his grumpy but cute side, now that he's home.
