As usual, you woke up without Jungkook. He never eats breakfast with you due to his busy schedule.
It's your first anniversary today, and you were excited, not as much as him.
He always stresses out on his career. Sometimes, he forgot about the girl she lives with. You.
You danced around with their song on the radio, twirling around as the sun rose outside.
"Baby, hear appa's song! He's such a great singer, isn't he?", you scooted closer to the radio as you rubbed your growing belly.
It's been three months since a fetus was formed inside your womb. You weren't sure about his reaction but you wanted to tell him soon.
Maybe today was a good day to tell him.
You spent the day, resting since you didn't feel like working. You were a blogger and you had enough income. You could decide whenever you wanted to work, and it could be anywhere like home.
The day went on pretty fast, you were quite disappointed since Jungkook didn't send you any message about your anniversary.
You went out to the supermarket to buy some ingridients for a cake. You also loved baking and it was your hobby whenever there were special occasions.
"Let's see, hmm, chocolate? Mocha? What about a cheesecake?", you went through the shelves, still deciding on what you wanted to bake.
In the end, you settled with a triple-chocolate cake. Jungkook had a sweet tooth and for sure you knew that.
You picked out some ingridients and brought them to the counter as the worker scanned them.
You happily walked out of the supermarket. You somehow felt your stomach hurt, so you stopped for a while and sat yourself on a bench. You thought you were just tired of walking but no, it's a worse case.
You continued to walk back to your shared apartment and started baking the cake.
It lasted for quite a while. You had a few failures and got some of the mixture in your face. You had quite a lot of fun, but you began to feel kinda nervous when you remembered about the news you're telling Jungkook.
The door opened behind you as Jungkook dropped his bag on the couch, walking over to the bedroom.
"Hi jagi!", you went over and kissed his cheek, slightly disappointed when he never said something like "happy anniversary."
You noticed that his hair was messy and he looked exhausted. Probably stressed out. "Maybe it'll cheer him up if I tell him about our little one," you thought wrong.
He simply nodded. You didn't even bother greeting him 'happy anniversary.'
He noticed the cake which was sitting on the counter, but he didn't notice the formed baby bottle frosting. (🍼)
"I have something to tell you~", you smiled but he never did.
"I.. I have something to tell you too..", he looked down with guilt in his eyes.
"You go first," you politely shrugged.
He began to feel uneasy with all your smiles. He really didn't want to do this but he had no choice. He didn't want to keep you waiting.
"I... need to focus on my career..", he couldn't look at you in the eyes.
You motioned for him to continue, still forcing a smile.
But his next words made you freeze and become motionless.
"I think.. we should— ..let's break up", he tried to look away while he ran his fingers through your hair.
You breathed deeply, sighing as you nodded your head with a fake smile.
"O-okay..", you faked a smile and walked past him, going to your shared bedroom to pack your clothes.
You shoved in all the nearest clothes, not even bothering to fold them as your tears fell everywhere below you.
All the excitement were replaced with sadness and— the feeling that you weren't enough for him.
You ran away with your luggage in hand, not even bothering to spare his motionless body a look.
He didn't want to do that. The second he spit those words, he regretted. But what else could he do? He had decided.
He never knew about the fruit of your love growing inside you. He didn't have to know.
You honestly didn't know where to stay, you went around the streets with a jacket but it didn't stop the cold air from making you shiver. You took off your ring, but not throwing it away. It was a promise ring, though he broke his promise. You kept in in your hand.
You were waiting for the stop light so you could cross the street. Your sweaty palms made it hard for you to hold on to the small object. It stumbled off and down the street. You took your other hand off the luggage and walked over to where the ring had landed, only to get hit by reality. I mean, a car.
-
"Please save the baby instead...", you begged while you held onto the nurse's hand.
"Are you sure, Mrs?"
You nodded furiously while you forced your eyes close.
"W-wait," you fluttered it open and grabbed the nurse's wrist again, trying to catch his attention.
"Can you hand me a paper and pen?", your voice was barely audible but thankfully, the nurse nodded and quickly ripped off a piece of paper from her notebook, handing it to you along with a pen.
-
"Is this Jeon Jungkook?", an unfamiliar voice said through the phone while Jungkook was wiping his sweat from practice.
"Ne, how did you get my number— I mean, wae?", he asked.
"Your baby is here at Hongdae hospital, he's a premature fetus, but we managed to keep him living... he is still developing some of his organs," the voice explained.
"What do you mean? I think you got the wrong number," he was clueless.
"You are somehow related to Ms. Kim Yooji, right?", the woman asked.
"Uhh.. yeah..?", he began to think of what happened last night. Is that what she was going to tell me?
"Please come here—", Jungkook hung up and rushed out, not even informing his hyungs.
"Yah, where are you going?", one of them yelled but he was already out of sight.
He drove to the said hospital, heart almost coming out of his chest. He lost not one, but two.
"Where is Kim Yooji?", he asked the nurse on the front desk.
"Ohh, please wait," the lady rummaged through some papers and somehow paused when his fingertip pointed at one name.
"Uhh, I'm sorry, but are you looking for her child?", she asked, making Jungkook raise an eyebrow in confusion.
"...Oh, I guess?", he nodded.
She informed him about the room where the baby was, as Jungkook complied.
He saw the one with the
"mother: Kim Yooji | father: n/a"
The incubator didn't have the name of the child yet. A nurse came out of the room and met Jungkook.
"Are you Mr. Jeon Jungkook?"
"Ne," he nodded as he looked back at the incubator.
"Here is Kim Yooji's child," he pointed at the incubator.
"It turns out he's a boy. He'll be here for a few more months since we need to observe his organ's development, also—", the nurse was cut off by Jungkook.
"What about.. Yooji? Kim Yooji? Where is she?", Jungkook's hopes trembled down when he heard the nurse's next words.
"I'm sorry to say this... but she's had to choose over herself and the baby.. and as you can see.. He chose him," she glanced over at the small figure.
He swallowed a lump as he ran his fingers through his hair, sitting down on the bench along the hallway.
The only one he could blame was himself. He couldn't feel more guilty.
"I almost forgot, she told me to hand you this."
She gave him a piece of ripped paper along with a ring.
if you're guilty, take care of our child so you won't be guilty for your whole life. if you choose your career over him, don't even think you can touch him. i'll let you choose your career over me, but not over our kid. ugh my cut is bleeding too much bye ♡
Your writing was barely readable since you were in a rush while writing it. You even fainted not even a second after you drew the heart.
All he could do was cry, but it's better than nothing. At least he left a memory of you, your little man.
