Red Umbrella
"How long are we stuck here for?" Jimin complained, staring out the window at the pouring down rain. Namjoon shrugged his shoulders while continuing to write in his journal. No one else seemed to notice his complaining.
This rain was such a buzz kill, all he wanted to do was go out and explore the city. But the managers were concerned about the storm. Of course, they were. Grumbling to himself, Jimin got up and left the hotel room. Wandering the hallways in hope of finding something to help him forget about being cooped up all day.
The lady at the check in counter was of no help. She kept typing away and answering phone calls. Didn't even give Jimin a second glance as he sauntered by. Surely, she knew who he was... Maybe she just didn't care. He slumped his shoulders in defeat, making his way back towards the confines of the room he shared with Namjoon and Taehyung.
He looked out the windows as he walked by, the rain was relentless. It just wasn't letting up. But that wasn't what caught his attention.
There she stood in the middle of the storm with a red umbrella, spinning around and around. She had a smile on her face, a look of pure joy.
Doesn't she know it's a severe thunderstorm? She could get hurt. Quickly he looked around to see if anyone was watching him. Of course, no one was. Carefully he snuck out the exit into the pouring down rain.
"HEY!" I yelled at her. She turned to look at me with the same look of joy on her face and waved.
"DON'T YOU KNOW THERE IS A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM ROLLING IN!?"
Again, she smiled at me.
"WHERE'S YOUR SENSE OF ADVENTURE?" She called to me laughing as she splashed around in the puddles swinging her umbrella. Well... it is stuck in a box due to safety reason. I thought.
"YOU'LL CATCH A COLD!" I informed her, staying covered by the awning. Although with the wind picking up it really wasn't helping any. I panicked when the trees swayed, and the branches started breaking away on some of them.
"IT'S GETTING WORSE! COME INSIDE!"
Her umbrella was ripped from her hand as she fell to the ground and rolled. I stared at her in complete horror not knowing what to do. RUN. Was my only thought. So, without another passing thought I ran like my life depended on it towards a complete stranger.
When I reached her, she was curled up in a ball shivering. I could see the scrapes on her hands and knees, the puddle she was in had a slight tint of red. I scooped down and picked her up, stumbling a little with the wind.
"You're crazy." I whispered into her ear as I walked quickly towards the hotel. She giggled a little, snuggling into my chest. I don't know why but I liked the feeling. Once in the door, Yoongi was standing there with an eyebrow raised.
"Jimin?"
"Help me, Hyung." I grunted, she was getting a little heavy and the last thing I wanted to do was drop her.
"Jimin, who is that?" He gestured towards the girl in my arms. I sort of shrugged, receiving a heavy sigh from him.
"Please, Hyung... She's hurt."
He nodded, running down the hall towards his room. Once we were in the room, I laid her down on the bed. While Yoongi leaned against the wall with a scowl. He was always so grumpy. Looking back at the girl, regret weighed in.
I didn't know this girl. She could ruin my career in moments. I looked back to Yoongi who raised his eyebrow at me once again. Running my hand through my hair, I sighed.
"Are you okay?"
She asked me, now sitting up on the edge of the bed. I screwed up my face confused by her question. Shouldn't I be asking her that?
"I'm fine." I answered unsure of myself. She gave me a small smile, her eyes lowering down to her knees. A pout forming on her face.
"are you okay?"
She looked at me with sad eyes, shaking her head. Her blue eyes looked like a deep sea of trouble, that I found myself wanting to dive deeper in.
"I lost my umbrella..."
Yoongi scoffed, "An Umbrella... really?" he seemed annoyed at the girls sadness over an umbrella, pushing himself off the wall he left the room. "Make sure you have room service change the sheets... I'm going to find Jin."
She looked at me again after watching Yoongi leave.
"Is he always this grumpy." I nodded, disappearing into the bathroom and returning with a towel and a first aid kit. I guess it's a good thing Yoongi keeps one of these just in case. Kneeling down in front of her, I realized that she didn't have any shoes on.
"where are your shoes?" I asked, looking down at her toes that had rainbows painted on the nails. She was quite the odd one.
So fascinating...
"Uh... it's more fun to splash in the puddles that way..."
"Where were you staying?"
"I live across the street. "
"Oh..." I say, carefully dabbing her knee with the peroxide. She winced a little, then leaned back on her palms, watching me.
"Are you just visiting LA?"
"Business mostly."
She nodded with a smile. I feel like she knew who I was but wasn't trying to let on that she did. After a few minutes of silence, I had her knees bandaged up and found some socks to put on her feet. Hopefully Yoongi Hyung doesn't mind.
"Thank you." She smiled hopping off the bed, heading towards the door. I sat back on my haunches staring at her confused. Why was she leaving so fast.
"Where are you going?"
She winked at me, "Going to find my umbrella."
"No, you are not. It's dangerous out there."
"I'll be fine." She assured me, leaving the room just as Yoongi had.
"Seriously?"
I couldn't believe that she would just go back out into a storm like that. Maybe I should follow her, just to make sure she is careful. Quickly I grabbed one of Yoongi's jackets and ran out the door, running down the halls towards the exit. Rounding the corner, I found myself stopping short of the front desk.
She was standing there with Yoongi. He was holding her umbrella, drenched from the pouring down rain outside. The way she smiled up at him made me angry. I wanted that smile to be mine.
The way he smiled down at her made it worse. It's that damn gummy smile.
I guess I missed my chance again...
The walk back to my room was a long one... I can't believe I was upset about a girl I didn't even know.
"HEY!"
I turned to see who yelled.
It was her, she was resting her umbrella on her shoulder, spinning it. Water was shooting off the umbrella onto the walls. All the while she was smiling happily at me.
"Thank you."
"Of course.... Hey..."
"Yea?"
"Don't you know it's bad luck to open an umbrella inside?" I asked, she just laughed at me.
"Where's your sense of adventure?"
That's a good question.
I started walking towards her, sinking my hands into the pockets of the jacket I borrowed. She continued to spin the umbrella, unmoving.
"What's your name, anyway?" I questioned right as I was standing face to face with her.
"Noreen."
"That's pretty..." I murmured, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. It didn't stay there long; it was quite short. But it allowed me to see her face better for that slight moment.
"Thanks..." Her face had a pink tint to it now, and her umbrella had stopped spinning. She was staring at me in wonder and confusion. I smirked, inching closer to her face.
"What are you doing?" Noreen asked, her voice a little shaky. I stared at her soft lips, ready to kiss her.
"Where's your sense of adventure?" I returned her question, closing the gap kissing her softly.
