One Among Millions
I sat at the edge of the stage. We were doing a sound check and Jimin was rehearsing, while everyone else just kinda shuffled through the movements. I, on the other hand just sat staring out into the big open arena that would soon be filled with smiling sweaty faces. All ready for us to put on a show to make their hearts soar.
The stage grew quiet, Jimin had stopped singing and the sound of feet shuffling against the ceramic floor had subsided. I looked around to see them all staring at me. They understood why I was sitting here. They were sympathetic to my mood swings. I'd go from happy to overly depressed in an instant. Every time we stepped into a new venue it would happen.
We'd get ready for our final sound check and I would just feel like everything was going wrong. My chest would ache as if something was missing.
The sky was clear, you could hear the birds sing, and the steady drone of the cars on the streets. Everything was beautiful and yet it wasn't enough. Something was always missing.
"Yoongi... it's about time for Army to come in." Namjoon rested a hand on my shoulder. I sighed getting to my feet, following him backstage to the dressing rooms.
"Have you figured it out yet?" He asked me once we sat down at our stations with our stylists. Namjoon's stylist touched up his makeup and ruffled his hair. Giving him a thumbs up, while mine just frowned at me.
"What?" I asked confused.
"You keep frowning like that and I'm going to ask for a raise." She teased. I shook my head disappearing into my thoughts as she worked.
"Yoongi?" Namjoon asked again. I looked at him getting a heavy sigh from the girl trying to fix my hair. She stood back with her hands on her hips.
"No..."
Namjoon just nodded a little disappointed. It was like he knew what the solution was, but I had to figure it out on my own. I watched him while he talked to Hoseok. They both looked at me with some concern. I'm sure I can figure it out.
I had too...
"FIVE MINUTES!"
Jungkook cheered, he was so excited to see all the fans. Him and Hoseok started bouncing around while my stylist huffed. She finished just as it was time to go out on stage, casting me a most foul look. I waved apologetically at her before stepping out onto the stage once more.
The stadium roared with cheers from the crowd. The joy and happiness of all was felt. It filled us with a desire to perform to be the perfect idol for them.
Deep down we always feel that we fall short of that, and yet they all love us still. We've come a long way and yet. I cannot seem to find what I am longing for.

Halfway through the concert I found myself sitting in the same spot I was during the sound check swaying back and forth with Taehyung. He was smiling his boxy smile that lit up a room when you saw it. All the girls in the front row were cheering so loud for him. But, there was one who was just staring. No... not staring she was swaying to the music and smiling up at me.
She didn't have to scream my name to draw my attention. She didn't have to dance all crazy. I was drawn to her.
I heard the music que for me to start my part in 'make it right' and yet I missed it. I became lost in her gaze and her smile... that smile.
"Yoongi." Taehyung tapped me. I blinked out of it and looked at him. He gave me the 'are you good look?'
I smiled a huge gummy smile, jumped up and went right into my part. I had to skip a verse but, Army had covered it for me in my momentary escape in her eyes.
I walked around the stage smiling and feeling a sense of wholeness. You ever look at someone and just know. Know that they are the only person you want to spend your life with. I do believe I found that finally.
The one thing I had been missing... searching for.
It was you.
