"Do you like Rhopalocera?" The tall man asked, looking through the glass at all the plants and insects. He was handsome, with his soft brown eyes and broad shoulders. The way he looked so majestic staring at the colorful butterflies as they flew made me feel small. Like I wasn't worthy enough to be in his presence.
"What does that mean?"
He looked at me in an 'aren't you cute' kind of way.
"Comment es-tu sortie, ma belle?"
"What?" I questioned. What language is that?
"Je te sauverai" he seemed disappointed, for the life of me I couldn't tell why. To be honest, I was almost too afraid to ask. I just watched him a while longer. His shoulders slumped, while his long fingers traced designs along the glass. My gaze soon wandered to what was going on behind it. The butterflies seemed to be following his finger's movements. I myself was almost in a trance.
I blinked several times to shake the feeling. That's not possible. Becoming aware that he was now looking back at me. I blushed, staying perfectly still.
Oh gosh
"forte volonté"
Was that French?
"I'm sorry... I don't know what that means either." I was starting to feel uncomfortable. When the owner of the museum, Harvey walked up. The man stood tall as he approached him, his hand extended.
"Mr. Kim, how wonderful it is to see you." Harvey smiles at him.
"I see you found Ophelia." He looked at me again with curious eyes, that darkened soon after.
"why is she not with the others ?"
Well that was an odd question. Harvey looked confused. What did he mean by that? Others...
"Is that a joke?" He questioned before I could open my mouth, I'm frustrated at this point. This man keeps making me feel small and he has no right.
"excuse me?" I interrupted.
"Shy and very flighty." Mr. Kim sighed, turning back to face the display of butterflies. Harvey cast me a dirty look, that suggested I was in big trouble. I shrugged it off, heading towards the bushes to hide. Maybe if I sit under this tree he won't notice me. Then I'll ask Harvey if I can leave when the man is gone.
Some time later, Mr. Kim made his way down the walkway. His coat was drawn up to his ears. He looked so mysterious and graceful all at once. Who was this guy?
"Pourquoi es-tu triste comme la pluie?" He spoke softly. I stared at him through tear filled eyes. Why wouldn't he leave me alone?
"I don't understand"I sniffled at him, no longer looking him in the eye. How could someone be so handsome and perfect.
"Perhaps if you knew who you were... you'd understand me better." He gave me a soft smile, bowed slightly and descended the stairs onto the sidewalk.
Knew who I was?
I looked around the museum. Everything was alive in brilliant colors of blooming flowers and the beautiful flying butterflies. It was an amazing place to be, I couldn't imagine being anywhere else.
However, I found myself drawn to the beautiful language of Mr. Kim. Completely captivated in his presence. Again I looked around, but this time I looked to the streets of dull gray and a saddened horizon. Why would anyone want to be out there?
"Looking for Jin?" A voice spoke gently. I glanced back, Harvey was standing close by. I didn't give him an answer. Although he acted as if I had.
"He wants to take you from this place..." he ran his hand through his dirty blonde hair. While his eyes grayed with sadness, I was beginning to know all to well.

The next day
———
Today seemed a bit colder than usual. Everywhere I looked was cast in darkness. The lights have yet to come on to indicate morning. Stretching out, I wandered over to the other side just as the museum was flooded with light.
I do believe that's the worst part of my day. It was unpleasant and my eyes had to adjust. I always seemed to run into things as they did so.
I had to be up before them though. I had to beat the crowds.
Mr. Harvey nodded in my direction as I passed by. I smiled watching a Gold-drop Helicopis flitter by. She was a beauty to behold, a bit snobbish though.
So many different kinds, all different sizes and colors. Some a bit plain. While others stole the show. Children squealing and sticking their grimy hands on the windows.
"Personne compare mon amour" His voice sent a shiver through me. My eyes grew wide when I looked at him.
Breathtaking...
"What?"
He smiled at me, holding out his hand.
"Tu es le seul pour moi" he whispered, leaning closer to me.
"Why do you keep speaking French, Jin?"
Jin drew back his hand standing straight up. He turned to Harvey frowning.
"How else would you speak to such a beautiful Papilionidae?"
That's the scientific name for swallow-tail butterflies...
Wait...
Jin smiled down at me, holding out his hand again.
"Sais-tu qui tu es?"
Oh...
Slowly, I flew up onto his hand. All this time I found myself to be lost. But I found myself in the eyes of a stranger. Speaking the language of love. Calling out to me, showing me that I was a butterfly. That I can finally spread my wings and be free.
"je suis libre?"
His eyes lit up, his smile almost touching them. He seemed so very happy. I loved that.
"Oui mon amour."
My heart soared up high into the sky, true love bringing me hope and helped me to fly.
