Red String of Fate- Chapter 2

"How long have you been able to see yours?" Jungkook's face went slack with disbelief as Yoongi leaned back in his studio chair.

"How...what...huh?" Jungkook's mind was full of questions and when he tried to ask them even more would pop up.

"Your fate string. How long have you been able to see it?" Yoongi asked again trying to be more specific. Jungkook hated feeling like his hyung was interrogating him. The small beads of sweat started to form on his forehead.

He had come to Suga's genius lab to simply ask a question about his last piano lesson, but he never imagined that this would ever come up. "I'm sorry hyung, but I don't understand what you are talking about." He lied. He hoped this would be enough for Yoongi to drop the sensitive subject.

"Why are you so tense about it?" Yoongi asked lifting an eyebrow in confusion. "So, you can see it. It happens to everyone. It means your fated person is close. Why aren't you happy?" Suddenly Yoongi frowned. "Most would be."

Jungkook didn't know why, but the last sentence sounded sad. "Hyung, how do you even know?" He finally asked letting his curiosity get the better of him.

Yoongi smirked as he held his hand up. "Of course you can't see it, but I have seen my string since I was a teen." Yoongi's eyes turned sad as he looked over to his thumb.

"Like you asked me, shouldn't you be happy hyung?" Jungkook asked.

Yoongi sighed as he slumped against the back of his chair. "I used to be." Jungkook felt a wave of guilt wash over him at how defeated his question had made his brother look.

"I don't understand." Jungkook said rubbing his neck with his hand. The sad atmosphere was making him uncomfortable. He didn't like seeing Yoongi like this.

"Let's just say my string no longer looks like yours does now." Yoongi said before quickly hiding the emotion from his face and sitting up straight.

Jungkook jumped in surprise as a small tug made his eyes move to the annoying string. Yoongi copied him as both their eyes looked over at the open door. There she was, leaning inside, smiling at them. "Oh, Jungkookie. I didn't expect to see you here."

The sound of her voice and that bright smile made Jungkook's heart beat rapidly and his cheeks flare. Yoongi tried his best to hide his smile behind his hand. "What did you need?" Yoongi asked, hoping to distract the girl from Jungkook's embarrassed state.

"Jimin hyung said to come and ask you to take him out to eat." She smiled sweetly again.

Yoongi rolled his eyes. "Why didn't he just ask me himself?"

"He said if he asked then you would pick on him." She said.

Yoongi got out of his chair and walked over to the girl. He chuckled slightly as he noticed Jungkook's eyes following his every move. He placed his hands gently on the girl's shoulder and turned her back to the direction she had come. "You go tell Jiminie, that when he has the guts to ask me himself, then I will treat him to dinner."

She giggled cutely as she waved goodbye. "Ok, Yoongi oppa."

Yoongi cracked a small smile at the girl's cuteness, before turning his stare back to Jungkook. He walked back into the studio, shutting the door behind him. "Did you know it was her, before or after, her and Taehyungie started dating?"

Jungkook looked away from Yoongi. "After."

"You did nothing about it?" Yoongi's voice sounded slightly angry.

Jungkook sadly put his head in his hands. "I didn't know what to do."

"Well, what are you going to do now?" Yoongi asked as he sat back in his chair.

"I was thinking about just ending it. Just letting..." Before Jungkook could finish what, he was saying Yoongi already had an angry fistful of his hoodie in his hand.

"Don't you dare tell me you were thinking about cutting it. Do you know how stupid that is?" His voice came out almost like a growl, making shivers of fear run up Jungkook's spine.

"What else am I supposed to do hyung? She is his, he is my best friend. With her being with him, she can't see her string. She doesn't know." His held tears started to flow down his cheeks.

"So, you just make the mistake of giving up? People search their whole lives for the other end of that string, and you found it. Why would you just toss it away?" Yoongi yelled.

"Why do you care? You don't know how I feel?" Jungkook finally yelled back. He felt that Yoongi had no right to try and tell him what to do. This wasn't his choice, and he didn't know why Yoongi was getting so worked up over his own choice. "It's my fate. Not yours!"

Yoongi quickly let him go and stomped over, opening the door. "At least you still have a choice Jungkookie. Please don't just give up. You can't just give up." He turned and looked at Jungkook one last time before closing the door behind him.

Jungkook swore he had seen the sparkle of tears on Yoongi's cheeks. Angry with himself, he roughly wiped his own tears and kicked the side of the couch.
