Chapter 27 - Too Many Lights
The next four hours were spent practising each dance until it was flawless!
Although I did struggle with a few moves, Hoseok helped me to polish them off until everyone could move like clockwork.
Our manager had hired a minibus to take us to the concert site, and the whole journey, we joked around, adjusting Jimin's seat so he could be as tall as us. He made sure to punish each of us as soon as we arrived, slapping each of our arms with his shoe.
The place was huge, and there were 6 different bands performing tonight, including ours. The only difference was that they had all done countless events before...
We were herded into a room with 7 chairs in front of a mirror.
"You will get your make-up done in here and through there is wardrobe. Once you are made up, go and get your clothes." A man explained.
Taehyung was the first to get his make-up done, and they made him look really cool with scruffy hair and dark eyes. He left to get his clothes as I was surrounded by the make-up artists.
I didn't like it at first. The powder smelt terrible, and they tugged on my hair a little too hard, but eventually I got used to it.
When they were done, I was amazed.
I still looked like me, but my blonde hair was spiky and a little messy, which made me look really cool. I was surprised when they put some eyeliner on me, but it looked really good in the mirror!
I went cautiously into the room where we would get our clothes just as Taehyung came out. He...looked...
AMAZING!
He wore a black tee shirt over a white, long sleeved top, plastered with words like "BTS" and "NO MORE DREAM" in big, bold text. With his makeup and messy hair, he looked like a real Kpop star, and I could feel my excitement bubbling.
Once we were all finished, we examined each other's makeup and costume. We all looked so cool, and the whole theme fitted exactly with the songs we were singing.
We had a brief rehearsal before the people were let in, and I was glad that the other groups had already done theirs so we could go through quickly.
I was amazed by how large the stage was, and how many seats there were.
Finally, we were given a rota which told us when to go into the wings before each dance (since all the groups performed their songs separately and at different parts of the show)
Our Mics were checked one more time before we all stood in the wings. Our first dance would be the 2nd of the whole show, and it was "we are bulletproof part 2"
I watched the first band (which I later learned was called shinee) and gulped as their music ended.
It was our time to officially debut...
"An all new band next, who released their debut song today. Ladies and gentlemen, we know you'll love them!!! ITS BTS!" The announcer read out, and we did a quick group hug before going onstage.
At first the lights were too bright - I couldn't see.
Then my vision focused.
The audience was huge... Too huge... I was scared... STAGE FRIGHT... Panic! What should I do?
Then I saw the others get in position and I copied.
As the first few notes of music filled my ears, I lost sight of the audience. In my vision, it was now the training room.
We completely rocked the stage, and everyone cheered so loud that I almost needed to cover my ears.
At the end, whilst they were cheering, we all hugged each other - 1st one down... Just a few to go!
As we waved and walked offstage, we were all out of breath and had a silent party as we walked back to our waiting room.
Just as Hoseok was unlocking the door, I heard something behind me.
Jimin was shaking still, and had his head bowed with tiredness.
"You okay hyung?" I asked.
He looked up, smiling and nodding.
"We did it!"
Yes we had... For now!
With each dance, they got louder and louder, as we got more and more energetic.
I was shocked to find out that Jaejoong was also among the people performing, but he didn't bother us - he was too busy ordering his friends around and sweeping his hair back.
We were the last dancers, and closed the show with "no more dream"
I was exhausted, but the overwhelming joy that filled my heart was indescribable.
When it was over, I was sad, but relieved. Together, we walked back to get changed, celebrate and relax.
