---[Chapter 01]---
Decisions were made
_______
It feels very empty in here even though it's packed with stuff. The floor makes a muffled thump when the ball of my foot taps it. A constant beat sounds from a pair of headphones that were abandoned on the top of a large, slightly cluttered, desk. "You've got to be kidding me" Some muffled voices follow and I shuffle closer to the door to try and hear what they're saying, but to no avail. I sit here for a bit longer before I stand up and open the studio door just a pinch. I can't really see anyone, but I can hear the conversation better.
"It doesn't make any sense."
"Why add another member? We were doing just fine for the past 4 YEARS!"
"We know Jimin we feel the same way"
"Maybe it was a mistake?"
"Couldn't have been, you know Manager Hyung always double checks with the CEO"
"Then why us? We don't need a new member"
I closed the door but continued to stand there, my forehead resting against the door. They're right. they don't need a new member, they're doing just fine. I dive for my phone that's still laying on the couch, abandoned. Pressing call, I wait for him to answer. After the second ring, I hear his voice loud and affirmative through the phone.
"Hello?"
"It's not right"
"Y|n..."
"I shouldn't be here" It's silent for a moment.
"I'll pick you up"
I'm confused by his answer so I wait for an explanation but the line goes dead. A few minutes pass, and I don't know what to do. The buzzer rings and I hear voices. Slipping out of the room, I check and make sure I have everything. I peep out from around the corner of the hallway. Namjoon is standing in the entryway with a figure just a pinch shorter than him. "Bang Si Hyuk, hello" They bow to each other in greeting. As he lifts his head, the CEO's eyes lock onto me and he motions for me to follow him. Soundlessly I shuffle to my shoes and slip them on, feeling very awkward with seven pairs of eyes following me.
I slide into the passenger's seat and close the door behind me. "Must you be so vague with your gestures?"
"You understood me didn't you?"
"Well yeah but-"
"Then I'm not vague" I sigh and slouch against the seat. It was a silent ride to where ever we were going. He kept glancing my way throughout the drive, looking like he wanted to say something but decided against it.
The inside of the restaurant smelled like freshly baked bread and well-seasoned steak. We were directed toward a reserved table for two, "Your waiter will be here soon" A menu with a leather cover was placed in front of me, the name of the restaurant was written in black, "It's better this way" I avoid eye contact, I don't want to see his face because everytime I do, my arguments fall flat and that can't happen, not this time. "How is it better?" It's completely silent besides the other customer's chatter. I realize that he stops talking when he doesn't know what to say or how to say something. It makes me nervous, "I made a promise to your father before he.." He takes a deep breath, "Before he died." I know he's watching me but my stare doesn't break away from a spot of something on the menu. "I promised him-" "Good afternoon, my name is Alec. I'll be your waiter today. Could I get you anything to drink?" I breathe a sigh of relief. Glad for the small break in the tense air, I smile up at the waiter. I order a glass of water with an extra lemon slice on the side and he orders a beer, a cheaper beer, a kind of beer you wouldn't catch a famous CEO of famous company drinking. When the waiter leaves, the air falls heavy again. "I promised my brother that I'd take care of you for him" I didn't know how to feel, I'd be lying if I said that I didn't expect it. My dad was always trying to keep me safe, but hearing it from my uncle felt...weird. " That's why I'm doing this. It's easier for me to keep you safe if you're with BTS," "But it doesn't feel right. I feel like I'm intruding on a tight-knit family. A complete family. What would I do for them? I have no talent that would benefit them. I would just drag them down" A dull thud draws my eyes to the man sitting across from me. His stature is ridged and his hand is firmly planted on the cloth covered table. He looks pissed, his brows pull in closer together, and his jaw is clenched tightly."Stop right there. Protecting you doesn't just mean physically. I don't want you saying those kinds of things about yourself. You are an amazingly talented, beautiful person. And I know you'll do your best, you always do" The harsh lines on his face soften and his hand lifts from its spot on the table "Now let's stop talking about this and enjoy our afternoon"
By the time we finish and leave, the car is already pulled up in front of the restaurant, thanks to the valet. "I would like you to spend the night with them, and we will figure out the details tomorrow, okay?" I nod. He kisses the top of my head and enters the driver's seat. My uncle was always like a second father to me, coming by the house every day, sometimes bringing food when dad worked late. He was a better parent than my own mother. We pulled up to the front of Bangtans dorm. My nerves tied themselves into a knot and sat uncomfortably in the pit of my stomach. I grab my bag and close the car door quickly before my uncle can say anything. My hands were shaking as I knocked on the door. Jugnkook is the one to answer. He looks very tired, his hair astray. "Hey" I bow slightly and continue to watch the tops of my shoes. "Come in" I slip my shoes off in the same spot I did when their manager brought me and the news that I'd be joining the group. "Do you want something to drink?" I shake my head, I don't want them to have to wait on me when I'm the one who's the uninvited guest. It's awkward in here, but I guess I should get used to it, I have a feeling things will continue to be awkward for a while. "She's staying with us tonight, we have to get a bed ready for her" The rest of them enter the room but they don't seem to notice me, "I can sleep on the couch" Everyone turns to stare at me. Really gonna have to get used to this.
