Poem - Remiss
Mistake
in the garden
obscuring and clouding
though the sun shone bright as day
Misstep
through the serpent
that slithered and hissed
whispering, "Come, choose your own way."
Misled
by the voices
of doubt in our hearts
desiring to have their own say
Mistrust
of the One
our Father, Creator
who formed us of dust and of clay
Misery
in the darkness
of our own choice and will
to live without God and to pay
Reaching
through the chains
we've wrapped round our hearts
to keep them from Him and to hide
Renewed
by a child
who, perfect and pure
chose the narrow way over the wide
Recalled
to the Light
as He shone in the dark
calling those who would walk by His side
Redeemed
through the blood
of that one Sacrifice
stripped, beaten, and crucified
Resurrect!
for the grave
could not hope to contain
the power of that great Eastertide
Reborn
through the waters
of baptism, remade
by the grace He did freely provide
"Return
to your people,"
we earnestly plead
with the Church of all nations, worldwide
Restored
we will walk
by his side, white as snow
through our Savior washed clean, dignified
