5: Getting Closer
Baldi was feeling sad that Emily tried to avoid him. When he tried to ask her to hang out or to join her when she was alone, she just beat around the bush, or try to make an excuse to not be around him. Baldi really couldn't remember why or what could cause her to avoid him in the first place.
Did I do something to her and I just can't remember? Oh dear lord, I hope not.
He decided to talk to Principal about this. Unless she told him since he was her father.
"Hey, Princi, I have a question."
"Baldi...is it fourth period already?" Principal looked at his watch. Around this time the students would be in Miss Pomp's class upstairs.
"Yeah," Baldi chuckled, "listen, I like to ask you something about Emily."
"What did she do this time," Principal growled.
Seriously? Why did he sound pissed about this?
"N-nothing. She did nothing wrong. No I just want to know if I did anything to her in the past. She seems uncomfortable around me."
"Well I told her to not get involved with you." Principal said, "because I sense you have feelings for my little stubborn child."
Stubborn!?
"Emily is not stubborn!" Baldi frowned, "she is sweet, kind, and caring girl. And she isn't a child anymore. She's 20 years old!"
"Well she acts like one. Look, Baldi, I didn't ask God for a daughter like her." Principal frowned.
His eyes shown a coldness in them. This made Baldi hate Principal even more. First back then when they were seniors, he would be a jerk and tell lies to everyone that he was a woman beater. Then he got his first girlfriend to dump him because Principal lied saying he kills children. That made Baldi mad with hatred. He also tried to get him and Emily separated because of their friendship they had. The close bond they had. Baldi just assumed Principal was jealous all because he was hanging out with his daughter more than Principal was. She just didn't have a good father figure in her life and desperately needed a friend.
"How could you say something like that!?"
Why do I stay friends with this bastard!?
"What? It's the honest truth. I even hate her. She is a stubborn brat. Doesn't want to listen to me at all." Principal explained.
Baldi dropped his eyebrows frowning at him. "You are a horrible horrible father! No father should ever say that about his daughter!"
Baldi then turned and stormed out of the Principal's office.
Emily was alone in her classroom cleaning up the messes that her students left in the classroom, when suddenly she jumped dropping everything when she felt a hand on her shoulder. "Ah!"
She spun around to see Baldi there. She almost fell back seeing him, but he immediately caught her. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you again."
Emily was shaking and was hyperventilating. She was still shaking even though she knew who was here. Baldi placed his hands on her arms in a comforting manner. She then looked up at him with her lips quivering.
"You alright? That last thing I want is if you are not alright." Baldi said in a comforting voice.
Emily shivered, but nodded.
"Do I scare you? Why?"
Emily looked up at him. "...because...you've hurt me."
"...I-I have?" Baldi was scared now.
Emily nodded. "When I got a question wrong...you punished me. It was even my first punishment. I felt...betrayed. The only friend I had...let me down all because it was my fault. My father was never there. You didn't know, but...he even...beats me also," she started to tear up.
Baldi covered his mouth. He choked back the tears hurt for what she went through. Principal abused her, and to make it worse, he beat her for getting a question wrong. How could he do such a thing, all by a simple mistake she made.
Baldi looked down at Emily. She was now sobbing in her hands. He then pulled her into a hug. His arms around her felt comforting and warm. It was not cold, like back then. She then cried into his shoulder as Baldi rubbed her back comforting her.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, Emily." Baldi said choked up.
Emily then wrapped her arm around his back as she sobbed in his chest. She kissed his embrace. He just snapped once. That's all. People make mistakes. He obviously didn't mean it. She then broke down shaking and gripped on him tightly. Baldi held Emily close and tried to comfort her his best.
"Shhh, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, Emily. I won't hurt you. Never ever again. I'm so sorry. And I understand if you can't forgive me. I was supposed to protect you, and be there for you since Principal is never there for you. I was suppose to be there for you...and I failed that. I'm sorry."
Emily slowly calmed down as she held onto him tightly. Suddenly they heard the door open. It was Principal. Baldi and Emily immediately pulled away seeing him.
Principal saw it all and frowned at them. "What are your arms doing around Mr Baldi!?" Principal snapped at her.
Aldi immediately stood infront of Emily protecting her from him, "I was comforting her. Why do you have a problem with me being with her?"
"My spawn doesn't deserve happiness. Besides, Baldi. I really didn't want her to come here. I wanted her stay at Advance College." Principal frowned.
Advance College...by that is a school also...run by...
"What the hell!?" Baldi snapped, "you wanted to send her to my fucking older step-brother!? Remember Player? He lost his best friend. What would happen to Emily!? He could kill her!"
"Well obviously." Principal replied.
Emily teared up hearing this. How could her father say that about her.
Baldi's face was red. Full of anger.
"Why!?" Baldi greeted his teeth, "Why say these things!? You're hurting her!"
Principal just shrugged, "she's nothing to me. So I care less that she is hurt."
Emily then broke down. She tried everything to show love to her father even though he abused her. She tried to be strong. She never said anything bad to her father. She would do everything to please him, but it was never enough. Never enough.
"Oh geesh. Enough, Emily! Your fake crying won't wo—,"
SMACK!
Baldi lost it. He slapped Principal across his face, "DON'T TALK HER LIKE THAT! She's your daughter, damn it!"
Principal was shocked. He didn't expect Baldi to do that to him. He rubbed on his cheek where Baldi slapped him. "It's not part of your business."
"IT IS MY BUSINESS NOW!" Baldi yelled poking Principal chest.
"Don't touch me!" Principal grabbed his hand and pushed him down.
"DAD! Stop!" Emily gasped once Baldi fell on his back to the floor. Baldi growled and pushed himself back up.
"Shut up, Emily!" Principal frowned at her, "and I want you to STAY AWAY from him!"
Emily frowned, "no! I won't!"
Principal frowned back at her and grabbed her arm twisting it making his daughter scream in pain. Baldi rushed at Principal and slammed him against the wall, "Get away from her!"
Principal frowned at Baldi and yelled, "GET OFF OF ME!"
"I won't if you're gonna hurt her!" Baldi growled.
"Fine I won't!"
Baldi let go of him and walked over to Emily and pulled her in a comfort embrace. Emily sniffled as she gripped on his sweater. She looked up seeing her father frowning her angrily. She then felt Baldi's hand behind her head and pulled her close so she didn't have to look at her father. "Don't look at him, sweetie." He whispered. He knew Principal was frowning at her. "Please just leave, Principal," he told him with his back still facing the principal. "You hurt her enough."
Principal frowned at Baldi and then stormed out of Emily's classroom.
Emily continued to sniffle and cry softly as she held onto Baldi's sweater. "It's ok, Emily. It's ok. I'm here. Your father won't hurt you anymore."
Emily gripped on his sweater tighter as she tried to calm down. "T-thank you..."
"You don't have to thank me." Baldi looked down at her and brushed her hair back behind her ear. "I would do anything to protect you."
Did he really care? Emily looked up at him. She wanted to believe he did change, but her fear made her question otherwise.
Baldi then leaned in and kissed her forehead. He caressed her cheeks gently with his thumbs.
"I'm sorry I was never there for you whenever he hurt you. I wish I had known." He kissed her nose gently.
"It's alright...I—"
"No it's not, I was supposed to be there for you. Care for you. Protect you. And I failed at that. So it's not alright. I was the only person you could turn to and I made it you can't turn to anyone," Baldi dropped his head down.
Emily lifted her hand on his cheek. He looked into her eyes tearing up. She then hugged him again. He then wrapped his arms around her again and kissed ontop of her head.
"I'm fine. I just...I blame myself for all of this."
"Please don't," Emily looked up at him.
Baldi looked down at her.
"Don't blame yourself. Please don't, it would make it harder on you." Emily told him.
Baldi made a soft smile and placed his hand on hers. She was so sweet towards him even after what he had done to her. He cupped her face and kissed her forehead. He then rest his forehead on hers making Emily blush. He still was sweet like when they were close back then. But still part of her was saying he never changed. Was it even true?
