going out after school

The day passed and as everyone was going home Seungcheol was waiting for Chan at the front of the school so they could walk home together.

Seungcheol kept his eyes fixed on the school doors the whole time and once Chan did come out, he was with a group of his friends. "Hey Chan" Seungcheol calls out, waving his hand in the air to catch Chan's attention.

As Chan turned his head to the direction Seungcheol was in, he gave Seungcheol a dull expression and continued walking with his friends.

Seungcheol looked at Chan confused for a second on why he would ignore him and decided to walk up to him and grabbed a hold of his shoulder to stop him from walking.

Once Seungcheol stopped Chan from walking, all of the friends Chan was walking with stopped too and looked at Seungcheol confused, not knowing who he was.

"Come on Chan, let's walk home together" Seungcheol says in a smile, pointing over his shoulder with his thumb.

Chan gave Seungcheol a dull expression and says "I'm going to hang out with some friends I just made."

"Well did you tell mom?"

"No."

"Shouldn't she know where you're going before you go somewhere?"

"No, I don't think she needs to know." Chan says, now turning and about to walk away again until Seungcheol grabbed a hold of his shoulder to stop him once again.

"Yeah she kind of does, she's your mom" Seungcheol says in a serious tone.

"You act more like a mother then his real mom probably does" one of Chan's friends say from behind him to Seungcheol while laughing. A couple of others laughed after what the kid had said and Seungcheol was a bit surprised.

"You tell her for me if you're that concerned" Chan says as he started walking away with the group of his friends.

"Loser!" A boy from Chan's group calls back out to Seungcheol as they walked away.

Seungcheol was still surprised with the group of boys Chan was hanging out with and was a bit speechless, walking home by himself.

Once Seungcheol got home he took off his shoes and was greeted by Chan's mother giving him a warm hug. "Hey Seungcheol, where's Chan?" Chan's mother asks, looking over Seungcheol's shoulder but had a look of confusion on her face once she realized he wasn't behind him.

"He said that he was going to hang out with a couple of the friends he made today so he didn't come home with me." Seungcheol answers in a smile, trying to make it look like everything was okay.

"On the first day he's already made friends, wow that's Chan for you. Even at our old place Chan was very popular in school." Chan's mother explains in a chuckle, now walking to the kitchen with Seungcheol following behind her.

"Really, the guy that plays video games all day and looks like he hadn't taken a shower in weeks was popular?" Seungcheol asks while throwing his backpack onto one of the couches which was still covered in plastic as they walked past the living room and made their way into the kitchen.

"Believe it or not it's true. He might have not told me but I've seen him hanging around a lot of girls as well, he's quiet the chick magnet."

"Chick magnet?" Seungcheol chuckles to himself under his breath. He then sat down near the corner of the kicthen were a table and a couple of chairs were.

"So how was your day Seungcheol?" Chan's mother asks, turning on the kitchen sink once again to fill a big metal bowl with water while she went to the other counter and started peeling potatoes.

"I think I had a good day if I don't say so myself, I've made a couple of friends too." Seungcheol says in a proud tone.

"Really, that's amazing Seungcheol! Are they nice people?" Chan's mother asks, looking over her shoulder and smiling at Seungcheol.

"Yeah I think they are...they told me a lot about the school and from what they've told me it's a really good school." Seungcheol explains in a happy tone.

Chan's mother was pleased with hearing so, leaning over to the sink to turn off the running water, then standing straight again. She was still peeling the potatoes but wasn't looking at Seungcheol as she asks "what about Chan...the people he's hanging out with...do they seem like good people?" She hesitantly asks.

Seungcheol didn't say anything and was thinking about his answer before saying "I don't think so, they seem like delinquents" Seungcheol admits and Chan's mother stopped peeling the potatoes, looking down and biting her bottom lip.

Seungcheol could tell Chan's mother was upset and walked behind her, placing his hand on her back. "M-Mrs.Lee..." Seungcheol says and Chan's mother shook her head.

"I-I told you yesterday you can call me mom if you want...with you saying Mrs.Lee it makes us feel distant." Chan's mother says, looking back at Seungcheol while smiling. Seungcheol could tell she was really upset though and he could see her holding back tears.

"W-What's wrong....mom?" Seungcheol hesitantly says but was able to push it out anyway.

"I..." She took a deep breath in before explaining "I haven't been the best mother. I was a horrible mother for Chan in the past. I never did anything like this for him like waking him up for school, making him meals...he's never had a real proper family. I wanted to change everything around in this new environment for him but this might have been too much of  change. He's not adapting to it and he's acting like how he always does. He's secluding himself from everyone else. There's more to this that I can't tell you...I...I just want him to be happy. His childhood was ruined because I was a horrible mother and I don't want his teenage years being a nightmare as well..." She explains, a single tear rushing down her cheek.

Seungcheol was surprised and definitely knew something was up. He saw how hurt Chan's mother was and she knew she was in the wrong for how she was raising Chan in the past. He could see she was trying to make a change but Chan wasn't cooperating with her.

"I'm going to do something about this myself" Seungcheol thought to himself in determination. "Do you need any help with dinner, I'm pretty handy with a peeler" Seungcheol says, picking up the potato peeler that Chan's mother had laid down onto the counter.

Chan's mother smiled, wiping the tears away from underneath her eyes and nodded. "Thank you Seungcheol, you're a nice kid" she says, patting Seungcheol on the shoulder and moving to a side so she could let Seungcheol peel some potatoes.

While peeling potatoes Seungcheol and Chan's mother were talking about things they liked doing and so forth until Seungcheol's father came home a couple hours later and had a big smile on his face. "Something smells good" he says as he entered the kitchen to see Seungcheol and Chan's mother still in the process of making dinner.

"We're almost done, why don't you go and set the table, dear?" Chan's mother asks, kissing Seungcheol's father on the cheek and he nodded, heading into the dinning room to set the table.

Once the food was ready and put onto the table, Chan still wasn't home. They waited a while before eating so they could have dinner with Chan but even after the couple calls on his cellphone which were unanswered, Chan didn't come home.

"Come on, let's just start without him" Seungcheol's father says in impatiens.

"Alright...well it should taste amazing since Seungcheol and I made it together" Chan's mother says in a bright smile, looking at Seungcheol and Seungcheol smiled back.

Once dinner was finished and Seungcheol was washing the dishes, Chan entered the house and was taking his shoes off when Seungcheol's father called him in an angry tone. "Chan could you come into the living room for a second, your mother and I have something serious to talk to you about." He says and Chan listened, going into the living room to see what they wanted.

I know in this chapter s.coups and dino didn't have the promised conversation I told you they'd have in the previous chapter. That conversation will come sooner or later though. You can kind of tell Chan's life is pretty messed up already. Thank you for reading though. I have my math exam tomorrow  and that's the exam I'm scared about the most! Please hope that I do well!!
