Chapter VI: Warning

Author's Note: Sorry for my recent absence and subsequent slow pace of this story. I have been extremely busy as of late, partaking in my association's annual Black Belt Camp, getting ready to return to University, and just life in general. That being said, this story hasn't been forgotten. I never start anything without the intention to finish it. Still, I have always found writing for Blake to be more difficult as her character, I feel, is the most complex. I have been and will continue to rewatch the series to ensure that she isn't OOC, but if she is, I greatly apologize. Thank you for your continued support with this story, even if it is being updated at a slower pace. -ASWW

Reader's POV:

You hear Blake cover her mouth with her hands as she tries to muffle the gasp of shock that escapes her lips. "Why?" She asks, her voice barely above a whisper. "Why would he do this? How could he do this? And to his own brother!"

"As you are aware, my brother has changed." You explain. "While he was once a young idealist, his anger gave birth to something else entirely. And when he asked me to do something I could not do," you pull up your shirt and reveal the scar, "he struck me down."

"I knew Adam had changed, but, I never imagined he would turn into this."

Pulling your shirt back down and finding your black leather jacket on a nearby counter, you pull it back on and once again make your way for the door, this time headed in the correct direction.

"And where do you think you're going?" Blake asks, her voice now serious.

"I must speak with your headmaster, Professor Ozpin."

"Why?"

"There are dark forces at work that would see Beacon fall. I must warn him and ensure that that does not happen. If you would be so kind as to lead me to his office, this matter is of the utmost importance."

After a few seconds of silence during which Blake is obviously considering your words, she walks forwards and gently takes your hand in hers and leads you out the door. As you walk through the halls you can't help but enjoy the feeling of her small soft hand wrapped in your own. Perhaps in another time, another life, the two of you might have been together. But you know there is too much pain surrounding your history together for such notions to become reality. Still, it was nice to imagine.

Leading you into an elevator, Blake explains you'll have a bit of a wait, as Ozpin's office is situated at the very top of Beacon tower. As soon as you enter the elevator she quickly releases your hand. "So," you begin awkwardly, "how have you been?"

"What do you mean?" Blake asks, obviously taken aback by your question.

"Since leaving the White Fang." You elaborate. "Are you enjoying your life as a huntress?"

She doesn't respond for a few moments. "Oh, right. Sorry, I forgot you can't... Yes, I like it here."

"Good." You say simply. "Though it may not be my place to say, I think this new lifestyle suits you."

"How so?" She inquires.

"You have always been a gentle soul, Blake. Like me, you have never been one for violence. You're a giver, not a taker. I think that helping people, rather than harming them, is far more your style."

"And what about you?" She asks.

"Hmm?"

"You've always been an advocate for peace. You have always believed that violence only breeds more conflict. You've always sought justice and equality for the Faunus, and unlike other members of the White Fang, you have always done so through peace. Have you ever considered becoming a huntsman and helping people?"

"I have not." You respond. "Perhaps I have always been on the side of peace, but I don't know anything other than the fight."

"You can learn." She says softly.

"And for what?" You ask. "The population still sees our kind as criminals. And if I had to guess, I would say you're still wearing that bow to hide who you are." Her silence confirms your suspicions.

You feel the elevator slow down and hear a 'ding' signaling that your destination has been reached. Hearing the doors open, Blake takes your arm and guides you out of the elevator and into the room.

"Ms. Belladonna, what are you doing here?" You hear a woman ask, her voice disapproving.

"Sorry Professor Goodwitch, um, this is (F/N) Taurus, an old friend. He needs to speak with Professor Ozpin, he says it's urgent."

"Very well." You hear Professor Ozpin say. "What have you come to tell me Mr. Taurus?"

"Tell me Professor, do you believe in fairytales?" Upon saying these words, you can feel the atmosphere in the room change.

"Ms. Belladonna," Professor Ozpin says. "Would you please excuse us?"

"Why?" She asks, tightening her grip on your arm.

"I'm afraid that the matter we are about to discuss is sensitive in nature." He says. "Please, return to your dormitory..."

"No." You interrupt, placing a hand on Blake's shoulder.

"I'm sorry?" Professor Goodwitch asks.

"I want Blake here." You say.

"I understand, but I'm afraid we cannot permit..."

"Forgive me, but it's not a matter of what you'll permit." You say. "I have come to you with information concerning the safety of your students, including Ms. Belladonna. Therefore, I want her here, to be aware of the dangers which threaten this school."

"Very well." Ozpin says. "Blake, you may stay."

"Given your reaction to my question I posed earlier, I assume that you do believe in fairytales, or at least one of them." You say. "As I'm sure you are aware, there are people in the world that would seek this power and use it for their own twisted intentions."

"Sorry," Blake interrupts, "but what do fairytales have to do with Adam and the White Fang?"

"Blake," Ozpin asks, "did your parents ever tell you the tale of the four maidens?"

"Of course." She says. "I don't think that there's anyone alive that hasn't heard that story."

"Well, what would you say if I told you that story was true?"

"I'd say that your crazy."

Ozpin chuckles at Blake's response. "Yes, I can certainly see why. But the fact of the matter is that the maidens do exist, and each one possesses unimaginable power."

"That's insane." She says. "Fairytales aren't real, they're just stories meant to scare or entertain young children."

"Whether or not you believe it is beside the point." You say. "What matters is that there are people that do believe it, and they will stop at nothing to seize this power."

"We're getting off topic." Goodwitch speaks up. "What information do you have concerning the safety of Beacon?"

"As I'm sure Professor Ozpin is aware, I am a long-time member of the White Fang. Or, at least I was."

"Was?" Goodwitch asks.

"Yes. I have never agreed with the violent methods the White Fang has adopted, but I stayed because of a promise I made to my brother, Adam."

"Are you telling me that you're the brother of Adam Taurus?" Goodwitch asks, a hint of malice in her voice.

"Yes." You sigh. "Believe me I am aware of my brother's reputation. And please, know that I have never agreed with his methods. But he is family, and there is nothing I would not do for my brother."

"If that is so, then why are you here?" Goodwitch inquires.

"My brother has always had trouble controlling his rage." You explain. "I had hoped that I might be able to help extinguish the hatred in his heart, but I'm afraid he is too far gone. He has sacrificed his ideals, allying himself with humans, turning the organization into a terrorist cell. Now he threatens to slaughter the lives of the innocent students' which study at this school. I could not follow him down such a path."

"And what dies he have planned for Beacon?" Blake asks.

"The group which he has allied himself with are lead by a woman named Salem." The room falls silent and the air grows thick with dread. "I take it you are familiar with her."

"No." Blake says.

"Yes." Ozpin and Goodwitch respond.

"She has sent a small group to Vale. A woman named Cinder Fall, and her two associates, Emerald Sustrai and Mercury Black."

"The transfer students from Haven?" Goodwitch asks.

"Perhaps," you respond. "I cannot say for certain. But I know that they have allied themselves with the White Fang, and the criminal Roman Torchwick. In fact, they are responsible for the incident surrounding Mountain Glenn."

"I see." Ozpin says. "And what had they hoped to accomplish by doing this?"

"Technically, it wasn't supposed to happen. At least, not for a few more months."

"What happens in a few months?" Blake asks.

"The fall of Beacon. Or at least, that's what they hope."

The room is silent for a moment before Ozpin speaks up. "Are you aware of how they intend to bring Beacon to its knees?"

"The Vytal Festival." You tell him. "I'm not aware of the specifics, but I know that they plan to use the Vytal Festival as a means to create chaos and panic. They are also working on a way to hack into the Atlesian defense systems. The Mountain Glenn incident was supposed to cause more chaos, but that has since been thwarted."

"Very well." Professor Goodwitch says. "Mr. Taurus, thank you for bringing this to our attention. Be assured that we will immediately apprehend the ones responsible and..."

"No." Ozpin interrupts.

"Sir?"

"For now, we will wait."

"But sir," Goodwitch argues, "surely stopping these attacks prematurely would..."

"Accomplish nothing." He finishes. "Despite the fountain of information Mr. Taurus has proven to be, we still don't have all the details. Striking preemptively would prove to be foolish, as they would only try again. For now, we must wait for the events to unfold."

You nod in agreement and turn to leave, Blake leading you back to the elevators.

"Mr. Taurus." Ozpin says, stopping you. "Thank you for bringing this to me. Plan to meet with me in the future, but for now, know that the necessary precautions are being taken."
