CHAPTER FIFTEEN: all my children

—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

JENSEN GILBERT HAD CALLED ELIJAH MIKAELSON. He wanted to warn the other about what his mother was going to do.

"Jensen, what a surprise-" Elijah started, ignoring his siblings in the room that looked up at him. Kol was already mocking him.

"Your mother plans to-0h shit," Jensen cuts off as Stefan stand in front of him.

Stefan tilted his head. "What are you doing?"

"Oh, Matt and I are going to meet up," Jensen lied. "Can you believe he had the nerve to say that I use people who are flirting with me to get drinks? When had anyone even flirted with me?"

"I know your lying," Stefan tells him.

"Jensen!" Elijah calls through the phone.

Oh, fuck it. "Esther's gonna kill-"

Stefan had taken Jensen's phone, hanging up the phone as he grabbed Jensen's sleeve, pulling him up to the house. He pulled the door open; Elena turned around, seeing Stefan drag Jensen in. He had Jensen's phone in his hand. "He was calling Elijah."

Jensen's phone was ringing again. Stefan looked down, underhand throwing it to Elena. "Answer it. Make up an excuse to why Jensen didn't answer."

Stefan took Jensen to the Salvatore house, dragging the other down into the basement.
—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

"Why did you call Elijah to warn him?" Damon asked. Elena and Stefan were behind him.

Elena pushed forward, going to open the door, when Stefan grabbed her wrist. "Let him out."

"No. He's just going to warn Elijah," Damon says.

"I'm going back to stabbing you,"  Jensen told the dark-haired vampire. "And now, stabbing Stefan."

"You have to let him out," Elena demanded. "You can't keep him here."

"Just until the Mikaelson's are dead," Stefan answered.

Elena moved forward, only to be held back by Damon; Stefan stood in front of the door.

"I'm going to use vervain-laced pencils to stab the both of you," Jensen threatened.
—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

"Here, Jensen," Damon entered the basement, holding out a glass cup of bourbon. In his other hand, he held a plate of food.

Damon slid the cup through the bars, holding it out. "Jensen," he called again.
—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

Elena paced inside her house, still holding Jensen's phone. She was worried for her brother, knowing that he would have told Elijah what his mother planned, and it had ended up with the Salvatore brothers locking him in the basement.

There was a knock at her door, Elena thought about going into the Salvatore house and vervaining both brothers, long even to get her own out of the basement.

A knock came at her door, making her turn around, stopping her pacing before walking over to it. Elena opened the door, both surprised and feeling guilty when seeing it was Elijah.

"Elena," Elijah greeted.

"Elijah."

"I don't mean to intrude. Jensen called, but ended the call, he seemed worried," Elijah says.

"Uh, yeah," Elena nodded. "He, he had-" Elena paused, knowing that the Salvatore brothers would want her to say. "he drank to much at the party. And before it, to get revenge at Damon, drank Damon's favorite bottle of bourbon."

Which, wasn't a lie. Jensen had done that. Just not last night. It had been last week.

Elijah heard no one else in the house.

"I was hoping you-well, and Jensen-might accompany me. I want to show you something," Elijah says, looking up the stairs.

"Oh, he's not here," Elena speaks.

"Where is he?" Elijah asked.
—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

Damon had removed Jensen'a vervain bracelet, despite what the twins believed, he didn't want to keep the other down here. Much less, for a unknown amount of time. "Jensen, have you have any vervain yesterday?"
—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

Jensen had stabbed Damon with a vervain dart.
—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

Elijah had driven Elena to the woods, and despite his questioning on Jensen's whereabouts, his questions weren't answered. Elijah parks his car and he and Elena get out and walk around.

"Forgot how much I missed this land," Elijah says.

"I can't even imagine what it must have been like a thousand years ago," Elena replied.

"You know, your school was built over an Indian village. Where I saw my first werewolf. The town square was where the natives would gather to worship. Matter of fact, near that, there was a field where wild horses use to graze."

"That's incredible."

"Come," Elijah ordered, maybe after this, she would tell him where Jensen was.

"Do you know this place too?"

"I do. Below us is a cavern I use to play in as a boy. Connects to a system of tunnels that stretch across the entire area. Perhaps it's nature's way of providing us with shelter against the savagery of the full moon. My mother said there must be a balance."

"Elijah, I should probably go home." Elena took a step back.

"I admire you, Elena. You remind me of qualities I valued long before my mother turned us. It's not in your nature to be deceitful and yet when I asked about your meeting with my mother the other night, you lied to my face. And when I asked you about Jensen," Elijah looks to her.

"That's not true. I told you that all your mother wanted was a new start. And Jensen's sleeping in," Elena added.

"I can hear your heartbeat. It jumps when you're being dishonest with me. You lied to me at the ball; you lied to be on your porch; you are lying to me now. Tell me the truth." Elijah demanded.

"I never wanted this to happen," Elena admits.

"What, Elena?"

"We were told that whatever was going to be in that coffin was going to kill Klaus. When we found out that it was your mother....We didn't know what to think."

"Since her return she says she only wants this family whole again," Elijah quickly says.

"When she asked to see me, I...I thought that maybe she could help. That she would find a way to kill Klaus. It's not just Klaus that she wants to kill," Elena admits.

"She wants to kill us all, doesn't she? She wants to undo the evil she created." Elijah realized, waiting a second. "And Jensen, where is he?"

"Stefan and Damon locked him in the Salvatore basement when Stefan caught him calling you," Elena says. "I was going to get him out when you showed up. I'm so sorry, Elijah. I wish there was something I could do to help."

"You know, one thing I've learned on my time on this Earth...be careful what you wish for," Elijah breaks a hole into the Earth, grabs Elena, and jumps down the hole with her.
—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

Jensen had stolen Stefan's car, Elena still had his phone, so, he couldn't call Elijah. And he didn't know Elijah's number to call it from another. Jensen drive down the street, probably breaking multiple speeding laws.

Jensen had decided to go to the Grill, knowing the odds of Alaric being there was of a high percentage.

Jensen turned again, Jensen hit the breaks, there stood Stefan, in the front of the car.
—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

"I got Jensen," Stefan announced as he entered the house, pulling the other by his jacket. "But, I couldn't find Elena."

"I should have hit you with the car," Jensen huffed out.

And then they notice that Elijah was there. "Hello, Jensen. Stefan." Elijah greeted.

"He has Elena," Damon informed, and made a gesture for Stefan to let go Jensen before Elijah noticed.

"Actually, she's with Rebekah. As you can imagine, my sister is just dying to tear her throat out. So...if you want to save Elena's life, I need you to help me stop my mother," Elijah speaks up.

"I was going to warn you, before I was oh-so-rudely abducted," Jensen collapsed in the couch. Elijah turned to him.

"I'm a little embarrassed to admit, but when it comes to killing thousand year old resurrected witches, I'm a little rusty," Damon sarcastically replied.

"Yes, unfortunately, even when killed my mother doesn't seem to want to stay dead. Not with the spirits of nature at her side," Elijah said.

"So, what are we supposed to do?" Stefan asked.

"Chop her head off," Jensen says, his head tilted back to rest on the top of the couch, he turned to Elijah. "you've done it before."

"Jensen," Damon snapped.

Elijah smiled. "The witches that released my mother, she's drawing her power from their bloodline, that line needs to be broken."

"Broken?" Stefan questioned.

"Yeah, he means," Damon makes a cutting motion with his forefinger over his neck.

"You want us to kill them," Jensen spoke.

"Not you. You would most likely be killed," Elijah tells him. "I wouldn't ask you to put yourself in danger."

Damon gives a sarcastic, tight lipped smile. "Oh, how sweet, your concerned for him."

Elijah took his eyes off of Jensen, who glared at Damon. "You know I'd do it myself, but I have absolutely no idea where they are. Besides, seeing me, they'd immediately know my intent. They won't expect to be harm by the likes of you. In any case, you have until six minutes after nine to find them."

"Oh, how super specific of you."

"By nine o' seven the moon will be full, my mother will have the power she needs to kill me and my family. If you do not stop her before then, Rebekah will kill Elena. So we all have our timeline? I suggest you get started," Elijah starts walking towards the exit.

Jensen watched for a moment, distracted before realizing what he had said. "Wait, what?" Jensen ran after him. "You are going to kill Elena?"

Elijah glanced back at the Salvatore house, then extended his hand to the other. Jensen, confusingly placed his hand in Elijah's.

"Jensen!" Damon yelled out, following after. But, Elijah had already disappeared with the doopleganger.
—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

"What happened last night?" Elijah questioned the doopleganger.

"Oh, Elena informed Stefan and I about the meeting with Esther on our way back home," Jensen informed. "I went to my room to call you and tell you about it, but, Stefan caught me and locked me in the Salvatore basement. He said they wouldn't let me out until you guys were dead."

"So, how did you escape?" Elijah asked. "Or did Damon release you?"

"Oh, I stabbed Damon with vervain," Jensen answered.

Elijah smiled at the other.
—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

"Shouldn't you notify the rest of your family?" Jensen questioned, as Elijah continued to walk by Jensen's side.

"I'd rather spend the time with you," Elijah answered.

Before Jensen could reply, Elijah had gasped, his skin turning grey. Jensen's eyes widen, catching the other before he fell forward.

"What the hell did they do?" Jensen questioned. The two had been in their way to the Mystic Grill when Elijah suddenly was 'daggered'. It seemed as if he was, the color of his skin, and they way he was about to fall forwards.

Jensen had only taken a few steps, pulling Elijah with him, when Elijah woke up again.

"I swear I had nothing-" Jensen started when, once again, he was lifted up and Elijah sped over to the Mystic Grill.

Klaus was about to attack Damon when Elijah called out; "Leave him! We still need them, Niklaus."

"Jensen! What the hell are you doing with him?" Damon scolded.

Klaus ignored the Raven-haired vampire. "What did mother do? What did she do, Elijah?"

Elijah walks down the stairs towards Damon, holding a phone. "You tell me where the witches are or I'll have my sister kill Elena right now."

Damon looks up at the clock tower and sees that it's 8:30. He glanced at Jensen, who had turned to Elijah, shocked.

"You told me we had until after nine," Damon says

"It's not even nine!" Jensen spoke.

"I'm sure Rebekah will be more than happy to start her work early."

"You'd do that to Jensen?" Damon asked back.
—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

Damon thought it was a bad idea for Jensen to come with them, given that they would be killing Bonnie. Jensen would probably vervain them both, again. Probably to the point of death. If he carried that much.

Damon didn't doubt that Jensen's wouldn't carry that much.

Damon also didn't like the idea of Jensen going along with Elijah.
—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

Elijah had told Jensen to stay in the car, ignoring both Klaus and Kol's looks as the three walked up to where Finn and Esther were.
—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

Jensen had waited a total of five minutes before he started the car up again. He thought it was taking to long, he was just going to hit Esther with the car.

The passenger door opened, quicker then Jensen could react. Jensen scrambled to get the vervain from his pocket, practically tackling whoever it was before he caught sighed of the dark hair. "Elijah?" He questioned, before scrambling back into the driver's seat.  "Sorry. Freaked out."
—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

When Jensen had entered his room, he hadn't expected to see Elijah standing there. Jensen jumped, the vervain needle in his hand quickly, he breathed out. "Jesus! And I was worried about Klaus killing me, apparently I have to worry about you giving me a heart attack."

Elijah smiled at Jensen, looking around. "My mother has left with Finn, Kol has left Mystic Falls. I will be leaving soon."

Jensen's eyes snapped up at that, before looking away and then back at Elijah. Stop being an idiot. "You're leaving?" Jensen questioned.

Unless Jensen asked him to stay.

"Well, you have my number," Jensen says instead. "so, call me. Since, it seems like every five minutes you are getting daggered," Jensen joked.

Elijah tilted his head to the side, amused.

"So," Jensen quickly spoke,  he had been trying all this time to not snap at the other.  "You're all leaving?"

"Klaus nor have Rebekah mentioned leaving."

"God, so the only  Mikaelson who's wanted gone is staying," Jensen huffed, collapsing onto his bed.

Elijah smiled again. "There is no need to worry about Klaus."

Jensen had thrown an arm over his face. "Because you're dragging him out of Mystic Falls kicking and screaming," Jensen removed the arm from his face, throwing it over to his side. His hand hit something, Jensen made a confused face, turning his head.

"If you need me, I'll return," Elijah speaks, making Jensen turn back to him.

Jensen smiled back at Elijah, making the other smile at him. "Thanks. Although, you can handle yourself-sometimes-," Jensen joked. "I'm kidding," he quickly said. "But, seriously, if you ever do need help, you can call me."

"I will keep in touch."
—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—

When Elijah left, Jensen looked over at his nightstand, a letter was on his nightstand, below it was a small, plastic tube ware.

—(••÷[ ꃳꋪꄲ꓄ꁝꏂꋪ ꋬꋊ꒯ ꇙ꒐ꇙ꓄ꏂꋪ ]÷••)—
