everybody has been asking for a sad oneshot so here you go..

2 months prior...

"Branch! Come here quick!" Poppy shouted. Branch rushed to the bathroom to find his wife sitting on the floor, smiling and crying at the same time. "What!?! What's wrong? Are you okay!?" Branch knelt down and lifted Poppy's face. She had the biggest smile plastered on, and her face was drenched in tears. "Branch! I'm pregnant!" Branch sat there, shocked. After his brain registered Poppy's words, an even bigger smile started to form on Branch's face. "You're pregnant!? I-I'm gonna be a dad!!" Branch swooped Poppy off the ground and smothered her cheeks with millions (and maybe billions) of kisses. "I love you so much Branch. Thank you for giving the both of us the gift to be parents." Branch couldn't be happier. After being a lonely malcontent for 20 years, his life finally began to be more colorful. "I love you more Poppy."

September 23, 2020

It was about 2 A.M. when Poppy woke up to use the bathroom. She silently slipped out of Branch's arms, to not wake him up, and went to use the bathroom. Pulling down her underwear, she noticed of what seemed to be a gallon of blood. "Hmm, that's weird. I shouldn't be getting my period. Meh, whatever." She changed her underwear and put on a pad then went back to sleep. Later in the night, around 4 in the morning, Poppy groaned in pain. Her stomach felt like it was about to burst. She gently shook Branch awake. She hated waking him up so early, especially since he'd get super mad at her, but she had no choice. Branch groaned and turned his body to face her. "What do you want, Poppy?!" He whisper-yelled. "I'm sorry for waking you up Branch, but.. ouch!!" She yelped. Branch shot up after hearing his wife yelp in pain. "Poppy?!? Are you okay?!" Poppy glared at Branch, which gave him the obvious sign that she wasn't. "Branch," she moaned in pain, "my stomach hurts SO bad!!"  The blue troll placed his hands on Poppy's stomach. "Does that hurt?"He asked softly. The queen shook her head. "I feel the pain on the inside." Branch thought for a second. "Is the baby kicking?" She shook her head again. "Nope. I'm pretty sure I'd be able to tell when the baby is kicking. I think I need to go to the hospital." Branch nodded. He got up, got dressed, and gently lifted Poppy off their bed and took her to the hospital. 

It was an half hour wait when the King and Queen got called in to a room. "Thank you for seeing us at this hour of the night, Dr. Starburst." Poppy sighed. "No problem. Now, what brings you here?" the doctor asked. Poppy couldn't be bothered to respond, so Branch spoke for her. "Poppy claims that her stomach is hurting her a lot..." He started. "And I've been bleeding a lot." Poppy finished. "Well, this could be apart of pregnancy. I'm gonna do an ultrasound, just to be sure." Moments later, Poppy was laid down on a bed and was told to lift up her nightgown. The doctor placed cold, blue gel on Poppy's stomach and used a machine to examine her baby. After searching around for 15 minutes, Dr. Starburst turned around and asked Poppy, "How many weeks are you?" "I just started my 13th week." She responded. "I'm sorry Queen Poppy, but you've had a second trimester miscarriage. You've lost your baby." Poppy screamed and cried. "NO! MY BABY! STOP! ARE YOU JOKING? SAY SIKE RIGHT NOW!"  Dr. Starburst hung her head. Branch, watching his wife, started to cry as well. "W-what?! Is there not a baby in there?!?" The doctor explained to the couple that the baby got lost in Poppy's body and died, which is why Poppy was bleeding so much. Dr. Starburst walked out the room, giving the devastated couple some personal space. As soon as the door closed, Poppy screamed into Branch's vest and cried until she couldn't cry anymore. Branch tried his best to comfort Poppy, but failed, since he couldn't stop crying either. "Branch, I'm so sorry. It's my fault that I dragged you into this mess. It's my fault that I lost our baby." Branch hugged her tight, gently rocking her back and forth. "Poppy. Hey, hey, listen to me. None of this is your fault. This is just how life works. Believe me, when I lost my grandmother, I always believed that it was my fault. But you helped me realized that it's just life. This is just another phase in life, babe. And I'll be here with you every step of the way." Poppy looked up at her husband, her eyes soaked with tears. "Thank you Branch. I love you more than life itself." The blue troll smiled and wiped away her tears. "I love you too Poppy. Don't worry, when we recover, we'll definitely try again." He winked. Poppy giggled and snuggled into Branch's chest. "Definitely." she said.
