Lin pov

Pippa and I were waiting. As soon as we got to the ER the staff immediately wheeled her into surgery. we had been waiting for a few hours, Pippa had fell asleep on my shoulder, when the Doctor came out. I shook Pippa awake.

The doctor smiled. " We finished the surgery, she has few fractured ribs, which are just going to heal on their own." I was confused. "what was the surgery for?" I asked. " we had to make sure she didn't have a collapsing lung. She is still asleep, but she should  be awake soon. you can see her if you want." we nodded, and went to here room.

Her wavy black hair was resting on her face. she looked so peaceful. the doctor left us to ourselves. we sat down in silence. I wondered what would happen to Brooklyn. Would she have to go back to her uncle? No, he wouldn't let that happen. He would have to talk to Vanessa. I slowly left the room to make a few phone calls. I came back and started thinking again. he was so lost in thought, that it was a second before he saw her big brown eyes staring back at him. "Brooklyn! your awake, how do you feel?"

Brooklyn's pov

I slowly regained consciousness, with a slight pain in my side. I slowly opened my eyes to see Pippa and lin. they were both lost in thought, so they didn't notice I was awake at first. then Lin snapped out of his trance. "Brooklyn! your awake, how do you feel?" I thought for a second before answering. " I'm ok."

was all I said, even though I had a million questions in my head. I decided to ask one. " what happens now? I mean, when do I have to go back to sir- I mean my, um, uncle." Lin angrily shook his head. " your not going back. I made a few phone calls, there is a social worker doing an investigation. and your uncle has been arrested." I relaxed. "where will I be staying?" Lin smiled, " with me, if your ok with that." I nodded eagerly. " anywhere is better then with him."

Time skip

Brooklyn's point of view 

I packed up my few belongings in to my rent  book bag. I was leaving the hospital today. Lin came in. "ready?" he asked. I nodded. I walked out, heading to my new life.
