Chapter - 9
Neil's POV
I made Neev sleep in his crib. I kept on staring at his face, his hairs were falling on his forehead. I pushed them back to kiss his forehead.
He is my solace.
Another sleepless night, I took deep breath turned to bed.
Today is my second marriage anniversary with my ex-wife.
Two years back me and Meera tied knot on the same day.
From morning when I opened my eyes her thoughts were revolving around my mind. Pushing aside all her memories, I went to office thinking to bury myself in work but it couldn't help me out.
While coming back, I myself did not realize when I drove to my pent house. The house, which I had bought for me and Meera after our marriage.
When I stepped inside, everything was exactly the same the way I had left. But everything looked so fake now. Even the air inside became pungent making me breathless.
Memories of our togetherness started running in front of my eyes. Our first marriage anniversary.
I had spent entire day with her. We had went out for drive. I had gifted her Diamond necklace. We cut the cake and then private dinner. We were so happy.
No! I was happy but Meera was just excellently performing to be happy.
Everything started revolving infront of my eyes. I could see myself standing on the back of Meera, whispering something in her ears kissing her ear lobs. She turned to me smilingly and then I was awestruck looking at the beauty. We kissed each other passionately.
I closed my burning eyes and tears started rolling down my cheeks.
My feet took me upstairs to our bedroom. Everything was covered with white sheet. But there was one picture above our bed which had me and Meera. I had captured this picture on our honeymoon.
"Why Meera?"
"What was my fault?"
"I gave you everything. I brought all happiness to your feet still you left me."
"What was Neev's fault? How could you leave him? He needed you the most."
I slumped down feeling weakness in my knees.
I did not realized how time passed when I came to my senses I came back to my home still Meera's memories were haunting me.
It was worst decision to step in side that pent house. Just a step made me nostalgic.
I want to hate her. I want to loath her but still one tiny part of my heart feels that this everything is just a dream. One day I will wake up and my Meera will be beside me.
I entered my room to see one figure. Meera also used to stand infront of glass when it used to rain outside.
My Meera is back to me. Her only thought brought life in dead person.
But then reality hit me hard... It was Myra.
'Myra... her twin sister.'
'My new wife.'
'Why can't they live me alone?'
'Her sister ran away taking my peace ... my life and now she is here to take away my son from me.'
' I hate both sisters.'
If I had not Neev with me for sure I have ended my life long back. This pain is killing me.
Neev... he is my life. I have to live this life for him. I cannot let Meera ruin my and Neev's life. She is no one for us. Her chapter is closed for forever. I have to overcome this. I cannot let my son to suffer because of that cheater.
I have to close all doors leading me to my painful past.
'Sale my penthouse. Sale every single thing inside. Any personal items just burn them to ashes.' I sent message to my PA. He will take care of everything.
I slumped down and closed my eyes tiredly hoping to get sleep.
Morning sun rays disturbed my sleep. I checked my surroundings, I was in my room sprawled over my bed. My eyes went to Neev's bed. He was sleeping peacefully. I tried to get up but I felt sharp pain in my head.
Shit! I have terrible headache now. Side effects of yesterday.
I informed my PA about not coming to office and connect with me only if there is anything urgent.
Later, Neev woke up. After his routine, I took him downstairs for breakfast.
He is becoming too much cranky. Now a days, I missed to make him ready during mornings as I leave for office even before he wakes up.
Julia looked at me with raised eyebrows. "I am not going to office today."
She just passed smile and left inside kitchen to get breakfast for both of us.
Julia brought his cereal bowl along with my Eggs Benedict with English muffins.
Neev started becoming fussy with cereal, it's not his favourite. My baby will become big foodie when he will grow up.
"Neev open your mouth. See we need to finish this. We will play today. Dadda is staying at home with you. We will have fun."
Neev protruded his lips splitting out the food. He kept on searching for something.
He giggled looking at my narrow eyes. Every one fears with my glare but my baby knows how to melt my heart. He gave me sheepish smile.
"Neev, let's race who will finish breakfast first? Dadda? Or Neev?"
But all my efforts were going in vein. I huffed in frustation.
"Is this happen everyday?" I asked Julia still trying my best to make Neev eat his cereal.
"No. He eats without making much fuzz." Her calculative reply.
I raised my eyes with question.
"Myra feeds him. I guess he is used to with her now a days." She gulped and mumbled hardly audible to me.
I thought for sometime.
"Call her here" I got up from dining table taking my breakfast plate and started moving towards living room.
I already have headache, I don't want to increase it by seeing her face. It's better to keep this distance.
Within 5 minutes Myra was down.
"What happened?" I heard her voice.
"He is not eating" Julia has turned into our messenger in last two months.
"Ohh my Neev baby is hungry?" She cried making faces.
To my surprise my baby responded to her with loud giggle. He was jumping in his high chair raising his hands.
'My baby was hooting the moment she stepped inside dining hall. Wow. Wonderful!'
I kept my eyes on iPad which was showing latest news trying to show I am busy to ignore her.
She took him in her arms and twirl him speaking something which echoed Neev's squeal in the dining area.
"I was missing you my baby" I could hear her giggle now. She kissed his temple.
"Did you miss me?" She asked making pout.
"Neil do you need extra toast?" Julia came out from kitchen to ask and Myra turned fully to me with wide open eyes.
I guess she was not aware about my presence earlier.
It was after two long months we were face to face.
She gulped, batted with her eye lashes.
"Mamamam" Neev kissed her cheeks which broke her trance.
She turned and settled Neev in his high chair.
"Why my baby is not eating his breakfast?" She sat on chair besides him. Now, she was whispering as it was some kind of secret between them.
Neev responded to her something in his language.
"Ohh Neev wants to listen to a story?"
Again some baby language which was hard for me to understand.
"Which story Neev wants to hear?"
"Bhoobhoo..." I was really surprised how she understood his language.
"Ok so there was one cute little puppy in Neev's house." And there she goes narrating some story.
I was staring at them with my corner eyes.
She was engrossed in telling him some story and my baby was looking at her with wide open eyes. His expressions were like mature adult who was understanding everything what she was narrating him.
It amazed me how she diverted his attention and fed him his cereal. They both were lost in their world of fantasies.
I got a message for joining one urgent meeting. I cursed my PA but without choice I went inside study but later I realized I forgot my phone in living area so came back.
"Give this to him. He will feel better." Myra gave something to Julia.
I ignored, took my phone and straight went back to study making sure they both did not realize about my quick visit.
Julia came inside study with my lunch as well as passed some tablets.
'Is this what Myra gave to Julia?' Thought lingered on my mind which I suppressed busying myself in office work.
In evening, I was playing with Neev in his nursery when I got urgent call from my PA from office, he was asking few details, of which file was in my downstairs study locker.
After few minutes of official talks I cut the call and took stairs to move upstairs when I heard glass breaking sound.
Taking fast steps, I moved to Neev's room.
"Neev stay there" it was Myra. Her alarming tone increased my speed to reach to Neev's room. I reached at door when I saw Myra. She was already inside.
She took step and screamed loudly. "Urgghh"
"What happened?" I tried to analyze.
"Neil, Neev there is broken glass infront of him. Go pick him up first." That moment my eyes fell on my baby he was crawling towards Myra.
My eyes captured shining glass piece just a step away from Neev.
"Neev stay there. Don't move." Myra was limping yet crying.
"Neev wait there. Dadda will pick you up." I took careful steps.
We both shouted at the same time and my baby halted on his spot swapping his eyes between us.
The moment I took Neev in my arms I saw Myra released relief filled breath with soft murmur. "Thank god!"
"Is he okay?" She took painful step towards us.
That moment I glanced at her. She was taking small steps towards us.
"Careful. There is a glass." I stopped her showing palm.
"Is he okay?"
I could only nod at her. Her big doe eyes were filled with tears but they were fixed on Neev.
Neev raised his arms asking with bright smile.
"You scared the hell out of me." She raised her hands as Neev was ready to jump on her.
"How come there was glass in this room?" She checked surroundings. There were few broken glass pieces.
'Shit! It was me.'
I was drinking juice few moments back. She just rolled her eyes, I guess she guess I was the culprit.
"You are bleeding." I saw her foot, blood was oozing out of it. "It's better if you first get it dressed."
"It's ok. I will do it."
It was difficult for her to take steps. Tears started brimming in her big doe eyes.
I raises my hand to give her support. She stared at me for few moments. I just rolled my eyes.
She gave in and I made her settle down on the couch.
"Maaamaaa maaamm" Neev was on the verge of crying looking at her.
"I am fine Neev. Nothing happened to me."
Neev jumped out of my arms to her. He kissed her cheeks. She started smiling like nothing happened to her. She kissed his cheeks. He cuddled in her chest and she took him in her arms.
Now I was getting jealous.
"Julia" I called through intercom. "Get first aid box here in Neev's room."
I took Neev out though he was not ready but if he stays with her she will not be able to dress up her wound.
Julia was helping Myra for dressing where as other maid was cleaning the broken pieces of glass. And my baby was eager to go back in her arms.
I started going out when I heard. "Please, next time no glass inside Neev's room." I knew this was for me.
I kept Neev on stroller to distract him from her and went out for walk. Today's weather was warm. It will be nice for my baby to go for evening walk now.
I was strolling in our backyard but my mind was stuck on the moment just happened.
'Myra'
'Does she really love Neev?'
'She was injured badly but still she cared for him.'
'She always cared for him.'
'Mr. Singhania, Neev's recent developments are really impressive compared to last months. He is gaining weight. His grass motor skills are also improved. He has started responding. Also he has started mumblings in baby language which is a good sign.' These were the words of Neev's pediatrician from my last weeks visit.
'Is this happening because of Myra?'
'Should I trust her with my baby?'
'No' my mind shouted on top of his voice.
And my phone beeped with notification. I thought it was urgent so had a quick look. It was a picture.
Picture of Myra and him.
I am so so right, I cannot trust this cheater family.
