Chapter - 12
"Do you think this is possible?" Myra was facing her father.
"Myra, please" He took a step towards her but Myra released his hold over her hand. She took a step back to maintain safe distance.
"No Mr. Sehgal. Never." She declared and with out letting her father to speak she announced in firm tone.
"I will never ever betray my husband."
"But Myra" Divya tried to intervene.
Myra showed her hand to her not moving her inquisitive eyes from her father's face.
"I don't know where Meera is? Why she betrayed him? But whatever it was? It was between Neil and Meera. Neev was not at fault. What was his mistake that she left him? She was the one who left her just born baby. This is unforgivable." Tears started rolling over her cheeks remembering Neev's cries.
"Because of Neil, she..." her father tried to interrupt.
"I don't know why he is behind you. Why he wants to destroy you? And to be frank, I don't even want to know it. But I know one thing, even being your blood, I have my mother's upbringing. And she taught me never to be disloyal, disrespectful to any of my relations."
Her outburst baffled Sehgal couple. They looked at her with wide open eyes.
Myra took deep breath to gain her emotional equilibrium. She closed her eyes for a moment.
She gave one final glance at them before turning.
"I am your father" It was last attempt by Mr. Sehgal.
"Really?" She fleered without even turning to them.
Shaking her head she left from terrace.
"She has to pay. I will make her pay for this insult." Her father punched the wall to quash his raging veins.
"First of all we have to find a way to get that E-Care deal without that we will be on roads." Divya reminded him frantically.
Myra went to washroom to clean up her face and settle her mind. She stayed there for some time alone. When she came back to party hall guests have been started leaving. She searched for Neil, he was no where to be seen.
She thought to give him call when she saw Julia's missed calls.
"Julia, what happened? Is Neev ok?" Next moment she was on call.
"Myra when you both are reaching home?" Myra could hear Neev's crying in the background.
"Neev is awake? We are coming. I will look for Neil. I am not able to find him." She was talking but her eyes were searching for her husband.
"I talked to him, he is on his way back to home." Julia replied, "Wait aren't you guys together?"
'He left me alone.' Her heart twinged again with dejected feelings which she ignored gulping hard.
"I think he left early. I am coming." she could barely respond back on call.
"Wait I will send car."
"No worries, I will take Uber." Taking fast steps she came out. Of course now it was about her baby. Her only solace of this big bad world.
She cut call to order Uber from app.
Here at home, Neev was crying. He needed either his father or mother. Julia was not able to calm him down. In last two and half month he was used to see Myra around him the moment he opens his eyes but today, neither she was there nor his father. His little innocent heart plunged with insecure feelings.
"Neev" Neil entered in his room.
His son looked at him. Tears were rolling over his cheeks. His nose and cheeks have become red due to continuous cryings. He was taking short breaths.
"Hey my Munchkin, see Dadda is here." He took his son from Julia.
Neev immediately wrapped his arms around Neil's neck. His father patted his back, saying soothing words.
"Where is Myra?" Julia asked after long wait.
"I don't know."
"Neil it's almost 12." Julia was interrupted.
"I don't care"
Julia left trying to dial number for Myra. Over these couple of months Julia and Myra have developed bondings due to which her heart engulfed with concern for latter.
Where as Neil concentrated on his son. He started taking rounds in the room trying to sooth his baby. But Neev wanted his mother's embrace, her warmth at that time.
"Neev" Myra entered with puffing and panting.
Her voice made Neil to turn at the doors.
Neev also turned to see his mother. He was still sobbing. But her one glance earned small smile on his face.
"Neev" Myra took a step towards them.
"Leave" Neil shifted to other side shielding Neev from her. Recent events played infront of his eyes.
But his son was making efforts with his all strength to see his mother.
"Neil, he is crying." Her eyes were fixed on Neev's pale and swollen face.
"My son does not need you. Get out." He tried to sound so much sober since he never wanted to scream in front of his baby. His baby will get scare.
Myra's heart was shattered in pieces looking at vulnerable Neev. He was raising his hands to go to his mother. His saliva was dripping out from his mouth mixing with his uncontrollable tears. He was hiccuping badly and trying his best to get out of his father's strong hold.
"I said LEAVE Myra." This time it was little louder than earlier.
Myra stood at the doors looking at both of them with dropped shoulders. Tears started brimming in her eyeballs looking at her baby.
"Neev, Dada is here. We don't need any outsider." He kept on rocking his baby when his eyes fell on door. She was still standing there. His son was looking at her with hopeful eyes raising his hands.
Neil took step towards door to close.
"Mumma" Neev shrieked loudly punching his father's face with his tiny hands.
Neil felt his little punches on his face, neck and shoulder but his heart was stabbed with multiple daggers when his own flesh of blood called her as his mother.
"Mumma" Neev kept on ranting her name looking at her with hopeful eyes.
His innocent, expectant eyes melted her heart in a moment. She took steps inside. She pulled Neev from Neil's grip which had become loosened after hearing his son.
"Ohh my baby. Calm down. I am here." She rocked him patting his back.
"Mumma" he mewled wrapping his both hands tightly on her neck. For a moment Myra felt breathless due to his clutch.
"Shh nothing happened. Mumma is here. No one will take you away from me."
"No baby. Don't cry." She kept on saying soothing words to him. And her gentle tone, her soothing motherly touch calm Neev a bit. He stopped crying but kept on ranting "Mumma"
Scene in front of him, infuriated Neil to its extreme. He remembered moments he witnessed an hour back when she was planning and plotting against him joining her hands with his enemies.
He took threatening steps and forcefully pulled Neev.
"Neil what are you doing?" Myra was startled.
"Mumma" Neev shrieked with loud voice raising his hands for Myra.
"Neev she is not your Mumma." Neil caressed his hairs.
"Mumma." Neev was also his son, stubborn!
"Neil please." She held his arms which was jerked in a moment.
"Myra just leave right now."
"Mumma"
"I am not going to leave. He is crying Neil." Myra herself did not understand from where she got the strength to fight back. May be all mothers are like that when it comes to their baby.
"LEAVE MYRA" He shouted on top of his voice.
Neev scared looking at Neil's menace avataar, his innocent heart terrified making him numb for a moment.
"Mumma" he mumbled in his sobs still gawking at his father with wide open eyes.
Neil made Neev sit on couch and kneeled infront of him.
"She is not your Mumma. She is just your Nanny." Myra looked at furious Neil. Her heart twitched when his words hit her eardrum.
"Do you get that she is not your mother. She is betrayer. Your Mumma is dead."
"Mumma" Neev looked at Myra, taking short breath. He was scared of his father now.
"Nanny. I said she is your just a NANNY. Call her Nanny." Neil held Neev's face in his fingers to to turn his face at him.
Neev gulped but kept his big eyes on his father.
"Call her Nanny" Neil had lost his senses by now.
"Na.. Na...ny" words were not coming out of that small innocent kid's mouth.
There was pin drop silence in the room for a moment only Neev's sobbing and breathing sound was echoing inside.
Neev was breathing shortly, he gaped like a fish. "Na... Na... Mum....Nny"
"Neil stop it" Myra came for Neev's rescue.
She pushed Neil making him fall down on floor. She carried Neev in her embrace clenching his tiny figure. He also buried his self in her warmth.
"Stay away from my baby." This time Myra pointed out at Neil. Her eyes turned red due to anger and continuous cryings.
"You are insane who doesn't deserve a baby like Neev." Her eyes were splitting fire.
"How dare you?"
"I am his mother. He called me his Mumma." Her one sentence made him shut his mouth.
"You taught him?" He got up and hovered over her in a moment.
"I don't need to. Even though he is kid he understand language of love and touch." She stepped back still enveloping Neev in her secured embrace.
Myra turned and started leaving from his room.
"Where are you taking him?"
"You scared the hell out him Neil. Congratulations!" Sarcasm was oozing out of her words as well as her eyes.
She could feel her traumatized baby, he was shivering on every word his father spoke.
Her words made Neil realized the blunder he did. He had become a monster for her baby few minutes back. He cursed himself but it was too late now.
"Dont take him away from me." He took steps and tried to touch his son's back. He felt his son's tremble in her arms just with his brief touch.
"I am sorry Neev" But Neev was not even ready to look at him. He was tightening his hold on Myra's neck with every touch and call from his father.
Tears started rolling down Neil's eyes. he failed as father today.
Myra came out.
"I am sorry Neev. Dadda is sorry."
"Please don't leave your Dadda. Your Dadda will die." He slumped down on the floor.
Myra heard his mumblings but right now her priority was her son who had just witnessed his father's cruelty.
Myra came back to her room. Neev was still clutching her. She made him sleep beside her taking him in her embrace. She caressed his hairs, kissed his temple, sang his favourite lullaby. After long efforts some how she made him sleep.
Next day morning, Neil opened his eyes as morning sun rays disturbed his sleep. He was on the floor. He remembered last nights events. His baby's scared face pierced his heart.
He got up and stormed in Myra's room. He opened the door with out knock. He halted in his tracks when he saw his baby was sleeping peacefully in her embrace. He was clutching her neck like his life dependent on her. His eyes also captured, she had enveloped his son in her arms like her precious possession. He felt weakened in his legs to break their moment. He came back to his room cursing irony of his life.
His own flesh of blood was dependent on his enemy.
Next couple of days, Neil avoided to come in front of Neev. His son used to get panic whenever he saw his father. His son suffered from minor fever but Myra took care of him. Julia kept him updated about his son's health.
These days Neev did not leave Myra for even a single second. He wanted her to be around her to make his insecured, terrified heart understand that his mother is with him.
In these days, Myra could not go to hospital and meet her Granny but she regularly took updates and watched her unconscious Granny with the help of Nancy.
In office Neil buried himself in work to keep himself away from his son. He kept on blaming himself for his own cruelty.
'I was never like this. I have become a monster.'
'I shouted on my own baby.'
'This pain, this betrayal is killing me.'
'But I cannot let go Neev, he is my everything.'
"Sir, E-Care singed deal with Sehgal's. Their bid amount was lowest so..." Neil's PA, Alex informed with grief breaking Neil's trance.
"What was the difference?" Neil gritted his teeth.
"100$"
"Neil" Niren entered in his cabin. He knew his brother would be in foul mood with the latest news.
"You can leave Alex" Niren instructed and Alex left leaving two brothers alone.
"Fuck. I knew it she will do something like this." Neil threw paper weight in anger.
"Neil calm down." Niren knew his brother, from their childhood, Neil was the among both of them who was more calm and matured but recent happenings in his life changed him drastically.
"We again fall in their cheap trick. Myra is new black sheep Sehgal's have arranged in our home."
"Myra? Are you serious?" Niren was shocked.
"I don't understand why Dad is supporting her? She is the mole. Can't he understand the simple thing?"
"Neil you are talking about our father." Niren reminded him.
"Father?" Neil chuckled humourlessly, "He blackmailed me to marry that bloody betrayer girl. She is the one who had passed quote amount to her father."
"And how can you say that?"
Neil turned to his brother in astonishment.
"Are you siding with her?"
"No, I am just stating fact. Being lawyer, I only believes on actuality." It was Niren's time to give reality check to his brother.
"She is daughter of Ashok Sehgal. She has been meeting him under my nose. I have heard them planning and plotting against me." Neil informed him about Myra's two meets to her father.
"And now he got this deal by just 100$. What do you want to say more my little brother?"
"With all these, you are concluding that Myra passed our quote price to her father and he won the bid? Let's talk with facts." Niren wore his lawyer suit now to confront his brother.
"With this E-Care Deal all the talks happened here in this office with few loyal assisting members. Am I right?"
Neil nodded his head in agreement.
"As per my knowledge, Myra never came to office. She does not know anyone here. She might even not know what we work on daily basis." His words gave one more blow to Neil's mind.
'He is right.'
"As far as I know, you and Myra are not in normal husband wife relation so you talking about office matters with her is next to impossible."
'I even hate to see her face. Forget about me discussing with her something.'
"I reviewed on deal presentation from home." Neil countered raising his eyebrows.
'She might have steal quote value from my study.'
"Your Mac is guarded with password and if I am not mistaken you have recently added Face ID which makes it impossible to retrieve any info from your Mac in your absence. So kindly tell me one thing from where she would have get to quote amount first to pass on to her father."
It was final blow to Neil's theory.
"I am not saying she is trustworthy, but look at the facts. They are contradictory with your theory."
"Whatever I don't care but I want her out of my life as soon as possible." Niren was the only one infront of Neil could blurt out his frustrations.
Niren shook his head at his brother hoping to get his older self back soon.
Here in home, Myra got a call from Nancy.
"Myra please come to hospital. Your Granny is sinking." Myra knew it was the time her Granny would be saying good bye to this world.
She wanted to be with her. She hand-overed sleeping Neev to Julia and ran out of the home.
"Madam, you cannot go out." Guards stopped her on main door.
"What?"
"Sir ordered us not to let you out of this home."
"I am going"
"Madam, Sir said if you step out then we will not allow you to enter back in the home."
"I don't care." Myra took a step out of the house unaware of the storm she invited with her one step.
