Chapter Six
Moments & Rumours
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
03rd of April 2018
Sang's POV
"Why won't you let anyone in? I would worry less if I knew you had someone watching your back." He ask as he wraps his arms around me from behind.
"You know why. How and who do I trust in times like these? When in a moment they could stab you in the back. No. I'm better of alone." I lean into his touch and close my eyes. "It's these moments I will savour, these moments I long for."
"What are you really afraid of my love?"
I turn around in his arms and place my hand on his cheek, trying to remember his face.
"I'm afraid of never seeing you again. I'm afraid because, in these moments, as beautiful as these are, they are nothing but evil when there gone."
I watch as he leans down and kisses me, I close my eyes, relishing in the emotion pouring into the kiss.
He pulls back slightly and speaks again my lips, "it's only evil to never have these moments. Live for this, remember this, because when we find you, I'll never let you go again." He fully steps back and looks down at me. "Don't be afraid to trust Sang. Not everyone is out to get you."
With that he fades away from me.
I run after him, but I never gain ground.
"Owen, please don't leave me. Not again."
"Sang, wake up."
"Owen."
"Wake up now Sang." He all but screams.
I bolt upright to see someone standing in the doorway, staring down at me.
At first, I think it is Owen. But then I realised it couldn't be him.
I reach for my gun, but the man stands on my hand, and laughs down at me.
I clench my teeth from the pain.
The man reaches down and grabs me by the hair throwing me down onto my stomach.
Refusing to panic, I try and reach behind me to grab the knife from the back of my pants.
"Stay still bitch." He tries to grab my hand, but I finally had hold of the knife, and tilt it enough to slice him.
I manage a small nick, small enough, but still painful, for him to release me.
I turn over fast, and raise my legs and kick out with a scream.
He falls onto his back, but jumps up fast.
Thanks to my training, I'm on my feet and I wait for him to attack.
"You will pay for that, you stupid bitch."
"Then come and get it."
He stops for a second to laugh.
"What's a little girl like you going to do. You know you should never travel alone. Never know what's going to happen."
"Right back at ya dickhead."
He lunged forward, but I step to the side and grab the back of his neck and bring it down to my raised knee. I spin around knocking him out with a kick to the head.
I reach for my gun and point it at his head.
"You should be careful who you mess with. They may surprise you." With that I pull the trigger twice.
I quickly gather my gear and strap it all back on.
It's still daylight outside but the thought of staying here a second longer, leads me out onto the street.
I crouch behind a car and bring the rifle up to my eye, and scope out the area, looking for any signs of trouble.
After a couple of minute I run as fast as I can weaving through the dead cars.
I jump over dead bodies, some no more than skeletons.
I run for a solid hour. I didn't stop for anything, or anyone.
I finally break out of the city, and see nothing but open highway.
I walk until I collapse to my knees, the tears I've been holding in, finally break free.
I hate this. I hate everything about this world. I want to go back to when things were peaceful.
When all I had to worry about was my over protective boyfriends.
I would do anything to have them back. I would even let them wrap me up in a bubble, as long as they were with me.
How am I to trust anyone when things like that happen. I'm better of alone.
My head shoots up as a sudden thought just occurred.
I never got to paint my 52.
I look back at the way I come, and see that it's at least a half hour walk back to town.
Sighing to myself I stand back up, and wipe the tears from face; showing weakness only leads to death, and that I can't let happen.
I head back the way I come. I won't let fear stop me from allowing the man I love find me.
~~~~~~~~
Twelve hours later, it's close enough for the sun to soon be rising. Another hour or two. But I'm so exhausted and I need to find a place to sleep.
The only problem right now is that I'm still on the highway. I start searching for a car that I can sleep in for the day.
It will have to be the trunk, because I'm going to be sleeping in plain view for everyone to see.
I pick a car with the biggest trunk and open the front door to pop it open.
Once inside I lay down and close it enough to make it look like it's closed, but not. The last thing I want to do is lock myself in there.
What a way to go, reason for death; locked herself in the boot, and couldn't get out.
I open my bag and have something to eat, but only a mouthful of water. I don't know when I'll get a chance to get more.
I lay there for a while, just thinking. Thinking of the guys and what they are doing right now. If they are searching for me? If so I wonder how close they are.
I think if I find a place, a place that's abandoned, I may stay there for a while.
Something is telling me that they are searching, and if I continue to walk, it will take a long time for them to catch up.
I decide that I'll stay a month. If they haven't caught up by then I'll move on. But I would have to find a way to let them know where I went, without letting anyone else in on my whereabouts.
With that last thought I let sleep claim me.

I'm awoken what feels like seconds later, but know it's actually been a few hours.
The sound of the female voice brings me back to why I have woken up. "Do really believe the rumours? Do you really think this person will really want autocracy?"
"I don't know Hun. All I have heard are rumours. All I have heard is that this person is growing numbers to support his role as the apparently new leader. Anyone who doesn't bow down to him, he kills them." I'm guessing her partner responds.
"Shit. This isn't good. This is all we need. Hasn't the world already gone to hell, why make it worse than it already is."
"I know. But hey, on the plus side, what about the Night Angel? They say this guy is going to lead us to freedom. Maybe he will take down the tyrant."
I hear her smack him, "and what makes you think it's a guy? It could be a girl you know."
He laughs back at her. "Seriously? You really think a girl could lead us to freedom?"
I can tell they have stopped walking, and I can almost make out the woman's frustrated pose.
I almost giggle at the thought.
"Joan of Arc who was an emblematic figure in French history. Boadicea, she was the queen of the Iceni tribes. She was known as the warrior queen. Cleopatra the Queen of Egypt.
Queen Elizabeth the first, also known as the Virgin Queen. Hatshepsut who was a Pharaoh of Egypt. Queen Isabella: She was the Queen of Castile. Catherine the Great: Her real name was Sophie Fredericke Auguste von Anhalt-Zerbst. She was a German princess married to Grand Duke of Holstein. Elen Luyddog: Elen Luyddog is also known as 'Helen of the Hosts'..."
"Ok ok, I get it, history nerd. So there was a few women over the centuries that have done something to be remembered by. But don't forget, it was you women who started the wars."
"Oh my god, that was once, and you all make sure we remember it. Helen was a idiot. She had to have known she would have started a war, but she still left with Troy."
"Oh please. Nothing has changed, but the fact that so many females steal other women's man, that it is no longer of significance. If we recorded every female who has done that, it would have its own library."
"Pfft. You males are the stupid ones to allow the women to do it. You only think with your second head, rather than the one that actually holds the brains."
I never got to hear the rest of that conversation, as they went out of hearing range, but I had to have a good laugh. Those to were highly amusing, and I would have loved to follow them, just to listen to them talk.
I let the exhaustion take over again, and this time I sleep without any interruptions.
