Welcome To Reality

25th of January 2018
North's POV
It has been a month since we set out to find our Sang Baby.
We found the first mark, 52, on our first day of travel, and have found one everyday since.
It looks like every time she stopped, she managed to paint the mark, and in clear view so we wouldn't miss it.
By the date on the markings, we knew we were a year behind in our travels to find her, but we were gaining at a rapid speed.
If our we are correct in our assumptions and she stayed two days at each stop, then she is only six months ahead of us.
We are travelling at twice the speed we were before and only sleeping for six hours at night.
Anyone we come across, we would ask them if they had seen our Sang, but no one has.
If it weren't for the marks, I wouldn't even have known she came through here.
She is in all sense of the word, a ghost.
I take relief in the fact that she has managed to stay hidden to the out side world.
I just hope when the time comes to find her, that we will be able to spot her, or her us.
But at the moment, I take comfort in that fact that the signs are still there.
There have been whispers of a person called the Night Angel, and I wonder who this person is.
They call them our new saviour, and will bring piece to this fucked up land.
If this so called Night Angel can accomplish this, I will personally shake their hand, and thank them for making it save again to live without fear of just closing your eyes.
A world safe again for my, our, Sang Baby.
It has been so long since I have heard Baby's voice, that I fear that I wont remember it. So every time I close my eyes, I picture her in my head, talking and laughing the way she would have before.
But it is getting harder and harder to picture.
I wish I could go back to the day we had left, and packed her up and taken her with us. It is our fault she is alone, and until I see her safe and sound again, I will never forgive any of us for leaving her behind.
"North? You ok? You keep muttering to yourself." I look over at Luke and grunt.
That's all anyone gets out of me these days. What is there left to say? Everything we hold dear is out there alone.
I hear him sigh, "Look North. I know how you feel ok. We all feel the same way. Let it out, yell, curse, hit someone, but maybe not any of us, I don't feel like getting hit. Let us in, your not alone in this."
I shake my head in frustration. He doesn't get it. If I start, I know I won't be able to stop. I have to stay strong, strong for Sang, to bring her back to our family.
"Fine, but just remember when you finally do, I'll be there no matter what. Okay bro?"
I punch him lightly on the shoulder, and nod my head in thanks.
"It's getting late. I think we should find a place to stop for the night." Kota speaks up, breaking the silence.
At once we all start looking for an empty building. I head over to the nearest building, pulling out my gun and open the first available door.
I'm brought up short by a punch to my face, and it takes a moment to gather my wits before I grab the offending arm.
I raise my gun and point it at the guy standing there looking ready to kill.
"I dare you to fucking try that again."
Luke and Silas have my flank, and do a sweep of the room. They find two other guys hiding in the back room.
"Tie them up. And make sure you gag them." Owen says finally making his way into the room.
I look at the guy in front of me and smirked, then knock him out cold.
"Mr Taylor, was that really necessary?" I looked over in shock.
"Are you fucking serious right now? Have a look around you Owen. The world has gone to shit, and no one cares a flying fuck about anyone else. It's a dog eat dog world out there, and I would sleep better at night knowing dickheads like this, are where they belong, ten feet under. Pull your head out of your arse, the world is no longer perfect and neither are you." I slam my fist into the wall and walk into the bathroom, letting the rest sort out the arseholes.
"Nice one Owen. You finally got him to talk. But he is correct though. This perfection that you seem to hold on to, this ridicules belief that violence isn't the answer. These belief, forget them, because we are no longer in your imaginary world. Haven't you seen enough violence and devastation to prove you otherwise? North is our family, our brother. Family always comes first, and if that means killing those to protect each other, than I will gladly take down anyone, who thinks these can mess with our family." I hear Sean respond.
I walk over to the sink and turn it on, shoving my head under the sink, shutting out the rest of the world.
What is he thinking? The guy punched me first, and he has to Mr Taylor me.
You would think, when the world went to hell, he would have stopped trying to control each and every situation. But did he not realise, the world and the people in it, they didn't follow the rules anymore.
Did the dead bodies that littered the street not prove to him, of how wrong this world is?
What would it take for him to open his eyes?
Growling in frustration I walk back out into the room and see that they had tied up the idiots, and pulled out all the bedding for the night.
Luke walks up to me and hands me some food.
"Thanks." He smiles and goes and lies down on the makeshift bed.
I lie down on my own facing those tied up. I eat the food, barely tasting it anymore, and close my eyes, letting sleep take me.
