CHAPTER 19

Emily's pov

I got off the bus after a stressful day at school.

Ugh when will school end so I can finally be free? Spread my wings like an eagle and fly.

Okay that was an exaggeration, but still.
I can't wait to get out of this hell hole.

I open the door to my house and immediately go to my room. Wanting to do nothing but relax.

I put my school bag on the floor and fall on my bed, belly first, not even bothering to change into comfortable clothes.

Just as I was about to drift off to sleep. The buzzing of my phone prevented that from happening.

Who is it now? It better be important, I think and sigh.

I look at the screen and see it's a message from Axel.

I didn't see him at school today, and his motorcycle wasn't parked in it's usual spot. That's weird, I know Axel isn't the type to miss school, despite his bad boy persona.

'Hey Emily, are you free at 6 p.m for our tutoring session?'

I immediately sit up and my heart rate quickens. It isn't fair that he has such an influence on me.

'Yeah, I am.' I text back with a smile.

'My place this time?' He asks.

'Okay.' I text back and begrudgingly get up from my comfortable bed.

I check my phone and it's 3:30 p.m. I get up and sit at my desk and start working on my own homework.

When I finish I look at the clock and it's 6:08 p.m.

Crap, I'm late!

I get up and throw my closet door open and quickly snatch what catches my eyes first.

I pull on light blue jeans, and a yellow long sleeved shirt.

I run around my room frantically, searching for my white converse, and after searching for 3 more minutes I finally find them and put them on.

I gather my notes and shove them in my bag quickly and run out of the house, shouting a goodbye to anyone who heard me.

I reach their door and ring the doorbell. Axel opens it with a scowl on his face.

"You're late." He says.

"My bad, I was doing my homework and didn't check the time." I say sheepishly.

"Please try to be on time from now on. I like punctuality." He says and steps aside to let me in.

"Where's Mrs. Andrews?" I ask and look around, noticing that it was odly quiet.

"She's at her friend's house down the block." He says and starts going up the stairs.

I follow him silently and he stops in front of a door and opens it.

His broad shoulders are blocking me from seeing his room.

But when I finally step inside, my jaw drops to the ground. I was not expecting to see this.

Plastered on the walls are the familiar posters that greet me whenever I look out my window, but what my window doesn't capture, are the rows upon rows of books that completely fill one wall and continue to the next.

They are sorted by the colors of the covers, starting from blues and purples at the top, to reds and oranges at the bottom and the next wall.

I am astonished. He has more books than me and I'm a book hoarder.

"Can you kindly stop gawking at my books? They're shy." He smirks.

I look at him and back to the books.

"Wow." I nod, impressed and jealous by his collection.

"Thanks." He says and I see the corners of his lips twitching.

"So let's get started." I say and turn around, looking around to figure out where I could sit.

He points to his bed and I nod and take a seat.

We get started immediately, I try to cover as much as we can but it's hard when Axel wants to take a break every ten minutes.

We were almost done reviewing the notes I made in class when Axel said he needed a break and got up to stretch.

He stretched his arms behind his head and his shirt rided up his stomach, exposing his V line. I blush and avert my eyes, not wanting to stare.

In an attempt to get my mind off his muscles, I stand up and walk towards his bookshelf, and scan my eyes over the titles.

After debating in my head whether or not I should ask him the question that was disturbing me all day.

"Where were you today?" I ask, my back still facing him.

"What do you mean?" He asks.

"You weren't at school today." I say and turn around.

He's standing next to his window, with his hands buried in his sweatpants' pockets and looking deep in thought.

"I had business that needed to be taken care of." He finally says after a while and faces me. His eyes looked empty and dull, not the usual bright and shimmering green.

"What kind of business?" I accidentally blurt out.

Emily you're so nosey, stay out of his business. My subconscious snaps.

Before I have the chance of scolding myself further, I notice Axel taking slow, daunting steps towards me.

I looked behind me only to realize that the bookshelf was there and I had no where to go.

He got closer and closer until he reached me.

He looked deep into my eyes, putting me in a trance.

He lifts his arms up and roughly places them on the bookshelf behind me, encasing me and knocking some books off the shelf.

I jump at his sudden action.

"You will never learn will you?" He whisperes, looking at me with curiosity in his eyes.

"I-Learn what?" I stammer, not knowing what he's talking about.

"That you shouldn't ask me personal questions or meddle in my business." He says slowly.

"I-I'm sorry. I won't do it again." I say quickly, and look down.

My heartbeat is beating a mile a minute, and I don't know what to say other than apologize.

"Tsk tsk Emily, it seems that telling you to stop isn't working." He whispers, titling my head up to meet his wild eyes.

"I think I might have to resort to other means to teach you a lesson." He says and dips his head lower.
