Crescent or Karishma???
Hi everyone, enjoy reading....
In her cabin, dressed in uniform, with pale face and swollen eyes, she was talking her heart to her crescent.
"Today, I had re-joined my duty crescent. A day which was supposed to be the best day of my life had turned the worst.....and all because of me. Karishma is not at fault. Like everytime, this time too it's me who had messed up everything. Kar....Karishma....she is....she is the most innocent and purest soul I could have ever get.....b...but...I....I lost her....I am of such a bad fate. I wish I could show you the preparations she had made for my welcome but....but one truth had ruined everything..... She had given me the choice that if I want her then I...I have to take that medicine..... I wish I could do that.....I....I can sacrifice my life for her then what importance does my memories holds? Nothing absolutely nothing….. but what should I do of your right on me..... What should I do of that constant feeling that you are yearning for me as much as I am..... I wish there could be any way by which I could reach to you other than my forgotten memories then I won't have to upset Karishma. What wrong have I done that my fate has no peace and happiness. Now when I have finally started feeling genuinely happy then suddenly I am being forced to choose between you and Karishma. You tell me how this is possible?....b.... But then Karishma.....I....I don't know.what she will do to herself ....she....she is thinking that she failed to teach me importance of life......but that's not true.... that’s really not true…"
Just then she heard some sounds from the hall, wiping her tears, she immediately moved out of her cabin leaving her video camera with the chip there on her desk only.
“Amma, Amma, Ka…Karishma….she…she…” Shorya stuttered in between his heavy breathings, sweat beads were visible on his forehead, his hands were shivering and his anxiousness was so much that he was unable to even stand on his feet.
Hearing Karishma’s name and seeing his son’s condition Pushpa ji, who was already too much disturbed after hearing her dear daughter-in-laws wailings through out the night, could not hold herself after hearing Karishma’s name and seeing his son’s condition. Her head spun and her legs left her side. Before she could hit the floor, Haseena held her in her arms, “Amma!!” escaped her lips in a mere whisper, tears rolled down her cheeks as she looked into a mother’s extremely worried eyes.
She made her sit on the chair nearby and offered her a glass of water. “Haseena….Ka…Karishma.” “Nothing will happen to Karishma….” Haseena interrupted shorya, held Pushpa ji’s hands in hers, kissed them with wet eyes and added looking directly in her eyes, “This is the promise of your daughter Amma, I will bring back your Karishma to you in the same condition as she was till yesterday morning.” She stood up, wiped her tears and left the station to find her Karishma.
Pale face, swollen eyes, dejected body, Karishma was walking towards free style wrestling arena, “What a worthless being I am that despite of daily monitoring her medicines, I couldn’t found out that the truth. I was claiming so high that I will take care of her health and all…..and that’s how I had done it. I couldn’t even raise a single ray of hope for her to live in this whole duration then with which right I call myself her friend. Since childhood, she has been my protector, my care taker and never for once she failed and….i….when she needed me….the most I….i failed miserably. I call myself her best friend but I couldn’t see what’s going on in her mind……what a miserable best friend I am….I don’t deserve you, Haseena….I don’t deserve you….i….i failed….i failed in returning even one percent of all what you have done for me….” Cursing herself, letting her tears flow freely, she was standing in the middle of the ring, right in front of a double sized woman wrestler, when refree blew the whistle for the game to begun.
Her opponent was in the ring to win at any cost while she was in the ring to punish herself for not being able to take proper care of her world her Haseena. Opponent raised her punch to hit Karishma who has closed her eyes to receive it with a hope that physical pain might reduce the pain of her heart and soul. However, she was unable to bring her punch to the front, regardless of putting all her might, “Haseena!!” escaped from Karishma’s mouth out of shock. “What a great teacher you are, that’s how you will teach me the importance of life? By jumping infront of death???” Haseena twisted that arm of the opponent and responded to Karishma by directly looking at her with her eyes red with anger, pain and guilt. She threw the opponent to the other corner of the ring with one heavy push, held Karishma’s wrist and dragged her out of the ring.
“Haseena….” “Leave me” “Haseena” “listen to me” Karishma was calling her and trying to free herself from grip but she wasn’t listening to her. “Haseena leave my hand, damn it!!” she shouted loudly pulling her wrist away from her grip and added pointing her middle finger to her with gritted teeth and angry glares, “You…lost the right.” She turned around and started moving away.
“I am ready…” Haseena’s loud voice compelled her to stop in her tracks. “I am ready….t…to take….to take….that medicine…..wh…..which….which will never let me…..let my memories….my memories to return,” her voice choked in her throat and her heart sank at her own statement, at the realization that she was not only letting go of her memories but also the only hope of ever reaching to her crescent- a soul which never left her side even in darkest days of her life.
Karishma slowly turned around and asked her to reconfirm, “Wh…what…what have you just said?” “Neither can I see you ruining yourself like this nor I can live without you so as per your condition I am ready to take those medicines,” Haseena took a deep breath and uttered the words with conviction by looking directly towards her.
Hearing Haseena, Karishma felt like someone had returned her soul to her, like her heart had started beating again, like she had won the battle of life and death. Tears of happiness had started streaming down to her cheeks. She clung onto Haseena and started crying vigorously while mumbling, “Thank….thank you….thank you Haseena for coming back to me….Thank you so much…”
Haseena reciprocated her hug while silent tears started streaming down from her eyes too though she was unable to understand if they were of happiness or of remorse. She is feeling immense happiness upon getting someone like Karishma who had done all in her capacity to save her life in past few days and despite of being the rightful receiver of all the gratitude and appraisals, at that moment, she was thanking her just for accepting her care and protection.
On the contrary, she was feeling equally devastated and guilty upon not being able to do anything for her crescent, upon not being able to find out her whereabouts, upon not being able to see if her crescent is fine or not, upon not being able to find out the reality of their relationship.
How was it?
