Wednesday morning:

"Bye mom!", i said as i made my way out of the front door. I was getting late for school.

The morning was really quiet and my shoes were the only thing making any noise as i fished out my cars keys out of my pocket. I put the key in the lock and was just about to turn it when i heard something. I stopped and looked around, but there was noone. I was expecting a dog or a cat but there wasnt anything on the street. I would have imagined it, i thought. I looked up at Sunshines window which was starting to glow as the sun rays hit it. I wonder if she was awake. Then i heard that sound again, louder this time and i realized it was coming from up there. Someone was close to the window, crying loudly. And that someone could most probably be Sunshine because it was her room up there.

I pulled back the keys from the lock.

I should check on her, i thought.

I dont know why but i felt like i should go and see if she was alright, even though her parents were there.

I went to the door and rung the bell.
Her mom, Sally Blitz opened the door. She looked just like Sunshine. Their eyes and hair were the same.

" Hey Ray", she said, smiling brightly.

"Hey i was just going to school and i heard someone crying so i thought i should check on Sunshine. Is everything alright?".

Her smile faded.

"Ray.... Sunshine had a friend back there in New York. Marlene. She had blood cancer. They werent that close but they spent some time with each other. They could feel each others pain".

"What happened?", i asked.

"She passed away last night", she said unable to look at me as tears welled up in her eyes.

" I—Im really sorry", was all i was able to say.

" Im sorry but i cant let you meet her right now. Shes not ok. But you can come in the evening", she said with a small smile.

I nodded and went back to my car.

That day at school seemed to go too slow. I kept checking my watch and that made me forget to avoid Beatrice, which ive been doing all week.

"hey Ray", she said as she spotted me outside my locker checking my watch and banging my head lightly on the locker door because there were still three hours left till school ends.

"Hi Beatrice", i said as i turned and faced her.

"Where were you all week?", she said as if she cared.

"Just busy".

"Did you get my letter?"

"Yeah"

"Then why didnt you reply to let me know if youre coming or not?"

"Told you. Was busy".

"Ok. So are you coming tonight or are you busy for that too?"

"I'll be there", I said.

She smiled with satisfaction and went away. I dont know what to make of her. She was the type of girl who has been with almost every guy at school. I wonder why shes so after me now. Maybe because of that universal fact i just mentioned that shes been with almost every guy at school.

Hey guys! I dont even know why i keep writing this story even though noone reads it and people dont really like it much but i' ll try my best to keep going on and InshaAllah i'll finish it one day even though theres a long way to go❤️
