The station was quiet as the crew settled in for the night. The small amount that was awake wandered the halls. They unloaded what they collected and set it up for trading. The silence was almost eerie as the noise of the crew died down. Autho kept a close eye on where they were headed. He furrowed his brow as he suspected something was off. He wasn't sure what and didn't dare leave the bridge yet. His eye twitched as he looked at the empty, inky black space. He had a feeling something was amiss on his ship.
Ligh quietly snuck to the kitchen and grabbed a few things. He stuffed it in his bag and looked around suspiciously. After a moment he headed back towards his room after grabbing a few more blankets. He tried his hardest not to look suspicious. He sighed forcefully as he tried to calm himself.
"Hey you, Galra rat." Someone sneered as they walked over. He squeezed his eyes shut in annoyance and his ear twitched before he looked over his shoulder.
"What do you want Gur?" He growled angrily. The crew member was the most suspicious and nosy of them.
"Why do you have so many blankets?" He asked as he pointed at them.
"Cause I'm cold." He snapped and shivered to make a point.
"How can you be? You're covered in.... is it fur or hair?" He asked. Ligh scoffed and glared at him.
"It's what I want it to be." He muttered and walked away. "You should stop being annoying." He mumbled and quickly disappeared.
He got back to his quarters and locked the door then leaned against it as he sighed in relief. He set the blankets on the floor then looked at the sleeping child. He crouched by the bed and gently brushed some hair out of her face.
"I'm... sorry for what... my people did to you." He mumbled and put a warm blanket over her. "But... maybe... I can show you... we aren't all bad." He said and made a bed on the floor for himself. He watched her quietly then smiled sadly and curled up on the floor. He stared at the bed but couldn't see the small child.
"My secret... one of many..." he mumbled and sighed forcefully as he fell asleep.
In the morning he woke up and furrowed his brow as he lay on the floor. He slowly remembered why he was there and looked up to the bed. He slowly sat up and looked at the girl. She was laying on her stomach and watching him intently. She moved away from him as she whimpered fearfully, and stared at his face. He frowned deeply and found his hat he used to cover his large ears.
"See? All better." He said as he smiled slightly. "I promise I won't hurt you... um... what's your name?" He asked quietly. She just stared at him then shook her head.
"Ah... you're probably still scared... traumatized by what happened." He muttered and thought for a moment. He looked around for a while as he hummed. She just watched him quietly and kept herself curled up.
"I've got it." He said as he smiled. "I'll call you Treble." He whispered quietly and she just stared at him. "Is... that okay?" He asked and she nodded slowly. He fished around in his bag and handed her some food. She stared at him then took it and ate quickly.
"Easy." He mumbled, furrowing his brow as he watched her. He figured he should probably get a medic to look over her.
"I'll be right back." He whispered quietly and silently left. He hurried to the medical area and found someone he trusted.
They went back and his fellow crew member promised to keep his secret. After the check up, the medic snuck away and made a secret file for her records. Ligh hoped that she would trust him one day.
The young Galra had managed to keep her a secret for a month. He didn't know how or if it was dumb luck, but no one else knew about her except the medic. She didn't talk to him for almost two weeks. He was patient with her and simply talked to her about different things going on. She stayed in the room most of the time or hid under the bed. At the end of the second week he was happy she started talking finally. They talked during the third week and he was excited when he finally got her to smile. The medic would come by and check on her health.
She had gained some healthy weight and the doctor was pleased with her progress. During the last week of the month, she had grown comfortable with being around them. Ligh would carry her on his back, and show her the ship late at night when everyone else was asleep. She knew to be quiet and never say anything unless they were in his quarters. She didn't understand why.
One night he had to do patrol and he quickly went to his quarters to tell her. He closed the door and crouched by the bed as she sat on it. She was eating some food he had smuggled for her. He thought for a few minutes then put his jacket on her.
"Are we... going?" She asked quietly as she looked around.
"I'm going on patrol and I thought you would want to come with me." He whispered quietly as he smiled a little. She nodded hesitantly and got on his back.
He gathered a few things then peeked out of the room. He looked around then carefully left and started his rounds. They wandered the ship for a few hours, then he went to show her the engine room. She looked around in awe then tightened her grip as she heard someone yelling angrily. Ligh froze and stared down the hall. He knew that voice anywhere. Autho.
The young Galra backed down the hall then turned a corner. He found a supply closet and carefully set her inside.
"Stay here... I promise I'll be back." He whispered quietly and put his hat on her head. "Just stay hidden... please." He begged then carefully closed the door, leaving it open a crack. She watched him go and whimpered quietly. She curled up in the corner and listened to the angry man yelling at someone. She hoped Ligh would be back soon.
Almost an hour passed and someone opened the closest. She looked up and whimpered fearfully as she saw an alien she didn't recognize. He narrowed his eyes and clenched his fists tightly.
"Stowaway." He hissed angrily and grabbed her arm. She started hitting his hand as tears filled her eyes. He pulled her out of the closest and started taking her out of the room.
She didn't know what to do and she bit his hand hard. He yelped in surprise and pain as he let go. She took off running as fast as she could back to the safety of the room. Unfortunately she had no idea where she was going.
"Get back here!" He yelled angrily and slammed his fist into a button on the wall. An alarm sounded and woke everyone up. Ligh looked towards the engine room and his eyes widened in fear.
"Oh no." He whispered quietly. He ran out of the loading dock where he had been ordered to go. His fellow crew members yelled at him to come back. He had to find her before Autho did or before they hurt her.
The little girl continued running for dear life but was quickly getting tired. She was still trying to get stronger from her ordeal. She looked over her shoulder at the pirates and whimpered fearfully. She turned corners and ran as she tried desperately to get back, or find Ligh. She didn't care which came first at this point.
She slid around another corner and saw some crew members ahead. She saw an open door and ran in just as someone yelled something. She stopped suddenly and stood perfectly still as her eyes widened. She'd never been here before. An alien turned and looked at her then narrowed his eyes. The crew stopped at the doorway, and just stood their as the captain stared at the girl. She looked back over her shoulder and saw the only exit was blocked. She realized this was the end.
Ligh managed to make his way through the crew and stumbled into the room. He froze as he saw them and his expression turned blank. She was caught and he knew they were both in trouble.
