The Chiba Clan

Shisui's P.O.V.

I sighed as (Y/n) caught up to me, "Hime? That was way quicker than I expected... You should've stayed at the hospital."

She stopped, bending over with her hands on her knees, trying to catch her breath.

"Hime, let me take you back-"

"No..." She looked up with bright green eyes, "Shisui, how long have I been gone?"

I rose a brow, "...Gone? You mean out-cold?"

"...Yes, how long have I been unconscious?"

"Maybe forty minutes, why?"

She sighed, her eyes wide.

"Why does that surprise you...?"

"Because... I've been gone for two weeks..."

My brow furrowed in confusion, "...You need to go back to the hospital." I tried to pick her up, but she stopped me,

"I'm not kidding, Shisui... I suppose they're green right now?"

I nodded, "Yeah. How long have you known about that?"

"About two weeks..."

"Like... real two weeks or-?"

"Okay, forty minutes, if we're going by time here... you know, it's not important, we'll figure this out later. We need to find Naruto."

I nodded.

(Y/n)'s P.O.V.

Shisui and I had been tracking for two hours now. It felt strange to be here now, with all of my Chakra again...

*******Flashback*******

"Your Chakra won't work here like it does in the other world." The little old woman explained, Tsuru was her name. She was boiling water for tea, after stitching a cut on my arm from the fall.

"Who are you...?"

"Well, I told you my name, so I assume you mean specifically..." She smiled, "I am Chiba Tsuru. I know of your world because I've been there... It's no surprise that you've shown up in this world now."

"Am I... dead?"

She chuckled, "No, dear, you're perfectly alive." She poured the water into the mugs, "The reason you've shown up here is... beyond you, isn't it? You're unsure of this?"

"Well, yes..."

"It's easy for you to show up now because of the time of year."

My brows furrowed, "...Uh... What?"

"You have a power, which can be triggered by emotional trauma, or by emotional trauma from your past. Both together can affect it worse. And, when it's spring here, so it's autumn there, the fabric of reality is weaker, increasing your power."

"..." Silence.

"Oh, I know, some strange old lady from another dimension takes you in and tells you that you have a strange power which is easier to trigger at certain times than it is at others." She handed me a mug, "But, I assure you, it's all true. Tell me, do your eyes change colors? Are you easily angered or saddened? Do you have strong emotional attachments to people you barely know?"

"Yes, yes, and no... If this... power, or whatever, is triggered by emotional trauma, then why hasn't this happened before? I'm a Shinobi. Almost all of my life has been traumatic."

"I would say that it wasn't the right time in your life. Your powers take a lot of Chakra to control when you're untrained. If your Chakra is low, you may not be able to use it. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, you may not be able to use it. It relies on Chakra and instinct. With practice, you may be able to control this, with less Chakra."

"...How do you know about all of this?"

"Well, it may come as a surprise to you, but your power is derived from the Chiba clan, my clan."

My eyes widened, "So... I'm not from that world or...?"

"Actually, I'm not from this world. Our clan, the Chiba, have a very strong attachment to this world and have had, for a very long time. The Chiba clan, which has always had power over time, slowly developed powers over space. We're one of the oldest clans of the Shinobi world. Though, most of us have all left, to this world primarily. This world is calmer. Or, at least it was when we got here."

"...Do you know anything else about me? How did you know I was...?"

"I can feel it. As you grow, you'll become keener on detecting this. But, to answer the first question, yes. Your mother's name was Chiba Amaya. I'm unsure of who your father is. But I can tell you he was from that other world."

"...You... knew my mother, then?"

"I did... She came here, to this world almost twenty-three years ago, pregnant with you."

My eyes widened, "But... I'm only nineteen."

"Yes, our eyes can control time, as well as space. You, traveling to that world as a girl, triggered that, and changed the age of your body. Other than controlling time itself, we can control the timeline of objects or beings."

I sighed, "You know this all sounds crazy, right?"

She laughed, "You just woke up in a different world, with no recollection of how you got here, correct? It can't sound too much crazier."

"...Fair enough." I nodded, "How do I get back there?"

"Calm down, child. I will help you go back, but you must rest first."

"I can't. This kid, Naruto, he's like a brother to me, he's been taken."

She stared back at me, "All the more reason to stay longer." My eyes widened, as I got ready to speak, she spoke first, "As you are now, you have no control over where or when you go back. If you stay here and learn to control it, you will have no worry of going back to the wrong time, place, or worse, another world, where Chakra is even more limited than here, and you will have no guidance."

I said nothing.

"The best you can do to help your friend is to stay calm. And rest."

*******End of Flashback*******

"Shisui!" I shouted, blocking a sword from his right. The katana against my tipless blade was held by a beefy man with a scar from his right temple to his left cheekbone. While he was occupied with me, Shisui had quickly gotten behind him.

"I wouldn't do that." A gruff voice said from behind Shisui. So my blade and the blade of the man in front of me had clashed, and Shisui's blade was to his back, and another man's blade was to Shisui's back.

My opponent's eyes widened, but I was soon staring into the eyes of the other as, with my ocular power, I moved Shisui somewhere else, and took his place in front of the man who had a blade pointed at him.

My tanto drove through the heart of the man, and I Chakra kicked him back, but as soon as his body began to move away from my foot, I noticed that he was being thrown in slow motion.

And then I noticed everything was. The other man, behind me, had just recovered from the stumble caused by me leaving abruptly. Instead of wasting time, I quickly got behind him, placing only a hand on his back, and reversing his timeline.

I jumped back, letting everything around us return to normal. Shisui had been in a run toward the action and stopped when I turned the man into a boy. The 'boy' stood in front of us, at about eleven or twelve, and no muscle tone compared to the man that he was just moments ago. Not to mention, his clothes were huge.

"What did you do to me!?" He shouted.

"If you tell me where Uzumaki Naruto is, I'll reverse it. Otherwise, you'll be going through puberty a second time."

He growled, "Fuck you!" His voice cracked as he ran toward me with his sword.

I blocked the blade, "Language." I easily got behind him, "It's bedtime." Hitting him in the neck with the hilt of my blade, I knocked him out.

What? I wasn't going to kill him. He's only a kid, now. Maybe he'll start anew.

I looked over at Shisui, who stared on dumbfoundedly. "Shisui?"

"(Y/n)... what the hell was that? You..." He looked at the unconscious boy-man.

"I'll explain it later. Let's find Naruto."

"Okay..."

'Whew... the old lady was right. It's really hard to use it after a few times... I better not use it anymore...'

After another forty minutes or so, our trail came to an end, at a building on the outskirts of the Land of Marsh. It seemed to be a retired factory. Shisui and I approached quietly, and I broke the doors down with a Suiton.

Third Person P.O.V.

(A/n: This is a dramatic scene... It's DRAMA-tizing.)

(Y/n)'s Suiton broke the sturdy door of the abandoned factory, the water rushing through it to puddle on the floor inside.

"So you've made it..." A deep voice laughed.

"Who the hell are you?" Shisui asked into the darkened room, his tanto raised.

The light flipped on to reveal five men, all with weapons, and all looked menacing. But one had his arm around Naruto's neck, just tight enough to keep Naruto from getting away.

"Naruto!" (Y/n) shouted.

"(Y/n)!" Naruto struggled to get away from the man.

"Let him go!" She demanded.

"Ohhh... not until we get what we want..."

"Why did a group of thugs steal a kid... What do you want?" Shisui asked.

"What we want... is your head, Shunshin no Shisui... if you surrender, we'll give this brat back to the woman..."

"What! No!" Naruto shouted.

"W-What...?" (Y/n)'s eyes widened.

Shisui said, "So you won't even fight me like a man."

"Heheh... Nice try." The presumed leader of the group laughed. Naruto shouted as the man holding him still placed a blade against his neck. "Cooperate, or the kid will die today."

"Fine. Let Naruto go. You can have me." Shisui said, and (Y/n)'s head snapped toward him.

She, of course, knew there was no time to devise a plan, and saving Naruto was obviously the goal, but... this couldn't be the way it ended. Shisui and her had been through too much for him to... (Y/n) loved him so much and... they had plans... they wanted a family, a future together, to grow old and retire... together.

Both Naruto and (Y/n)'s eyes widened as Shisui stepped forward. (Y/n)'s sights set on the leader, and she charged at him, but two of his underlings stopped her only a foot from where she stood. Without controlling time, she wouldn't be able to...

And as soon as their weapons touched her torso, Shisui tried to attack, but he was blocked by another man.

"Easy..." The man said.

"Don't you dare hurt either one of them."

"If she holds still, she won't be hurt."

"Tick Tock..." Shisui turned his head to see the man holding Naruto had his sword pointed toward Naruto's neck.

Shisui stepped away from the other man, throwing his blade down and listening to it clatter to the floor, his attention going to (Y/n), "I didn't get to tell you last time... before I..." His eyes softened, "I love you more than anything in this world, Hime." He smiled contentedly.

Her tears were steadily pouring down her face, wanting nothing more than to look at his face, but not wanting to watch. She subconsciously evened her breathing out, her trembling gone. It was almost like she was running on autopilot.

Everything moved instinctively, without thinking about it.

Her eyes opened fully and she grabbed the heads of the men holding her in place, smashing them together and appearing near Naruto before anyone had the chance to process what just happened. Shisui reacted immediately, blocking an attack from another rogue.

First, she took hold of the sword of the man who had Naruto, and by this point, Shisui was already in a deadlock with another rogue. She tossed the man down, taking hold of his neck and knocking him off of his feet, pushing him down, into the floor with her Chakra, and quickly turning to block Naruto from an incoming attack from the leader of the band of criminals.

"Fuck you and your group. I'm not leaving without anyone."

"Then you won't leave!" He shoved her back into Naruto, "Stupid bitch!"

Shisui quickly moved to block the leader's attack, and the man that he had clashed with stumbled forward, before trying to attack Shisui, but (Y/n) blocked him. The man, opposing (Y/n), eyes widened as he stared into her eyes. They were unnaturally green, but she paid no mind to it, already use to it.

(Y/n) forced more Chakra into her blade and the man in opposition was thrown back. Shisui noticed this, but he was in his own fight. The leader of the group was fast, but... he wasn't Shisui fast.

(Y/n) wasn't planning on playing on the defensive any longer, and went straight for a killing blow, out of pure instinct. The sword she had was driven straight into the man's torso, and he screamed, but she wasn't quite done...

As she channeled her water natured chakra through her blade, it twisted and burst within her opponent, splattering blood around them.

The blood mixed with the water that was already pooled on the floor, creating pink-tinted water, and a small number of blood droplets made it to her upper body, but she didn't notice or care.

When she turned around, Shisui's battle was already over, and he was staring at her in disbelief, watching her terrifyingly blank expression, looking over the blood dripping from her arm and clothes. He knew she was in the ANBU... he's seen her fight, and yet... never has he seen something like this, and especially not from her.

He looked around. She killed four men in just a little more time than it took him to kill one. The first two, whose heads she slammed together, were slammed together hard enough that it... we'll say severely damaged their skulls, and you could see that clearly.

"(Y/n)...?" Naruto muttered.

Her eyes fluttered shut, and she began to fall, but Shisui rushed to catch her right before she hit the ground. "Naruto, let's get out of here..."

"Y-Yeah..." He nodded.

********

As it turns out, (Y/n) had used more Chakra than humanly possible.

And, she died...

For about a minute. Luckily, there was a town near that factory, which had a hospital.

She was in a coma for four days, before waking up.

Her eyes opened and moved around the white room, smiling as she found Shisui asleep in an uncomfortable chair with his arms crossed and his head tilted back painfully far, him snoring lightly. Even better, on the floor beside him, leaning against the wall, was Naruto, with his hands out to the side and his head falling forward, also asleep.

Shisui's eyes opened and wandered to her,

"You're awake!" He stood up, walking toward her.

"What happened...?"

"You... don't remember?"

"No..." She shook her head.

"You... you went on a rampage..." He said, and her eyes widened, "You really don't remember that?"

"...No... I remember you, saying..." She flinched, remembering that part.

"I didn't get to tell you last time... before I... I love you more than anything in this world, Hime."

"It's okay... I'm here, and we're all okay..." Shisui said, taking her hand in his.

"I thought that you were..." She mumbled.

"For a minute, I thought we all were. But everything's okay. Those guys won't ever bother us again." He smiled, kissing her forehead.

Naruto woke up, "(Y/n)-sama's awake!" He rushed to her bedside, grinning ear to ear.

She smiled back, "I missed your birthday, didn't I?"

His smile didn't falter, "What's that matter!? You saved my life! You both... put your lives at risk for mine..." He began to tear up.

Shisui smiled lightly, placing his hand on Naruto's shoulder, "That's what friends do." Naruto looked up at him, wide-eyed, and Shisui tried to lighten the mood, laughing, "Well, Shinobi friends, anyway!"

******

After their day at the hospital, they decided to head back to Konoha, as their vacation had been... not ruined, exactly, but very tiring, and none of them wanted to experience any more excitement, other than what might come on the way back.

Aside from that, they were all supposed to be back in Konoha in a few days.

Now, they were on the first island of Mizu no Kuni on their way back, setting up a campsite for the night.

"I CAUGHT A CATFISH!!!" The heads of both adults turned toward Naruto, who was dragging said fish by the line, so he wouldn't get stung, but walking backward.

They both laughed, but Shisui went to help Naruto with the monster fish. (Y/n) followed, but she didn't go to see the catfish... she enveloped Naruto in a hug, surprising him, "That was a good catch."

He grinned, returning the hug. "You smell like a grungy old tent."

"Fair enough..." She released him, tears running down her face, "I swear, between you two and work, I really will lose my mind one of these days..."

Naruto grinned, and Shisui smiled slightly, "Nah... we'll just always push you just far enough that you'll think so." Shisui said.

"Gee, thanks. I'll make sure to tell our kids to put that quote on your gravestone... since you won't be dying before me." He laughed.

"Well, I'll tell 'em, 'cause I'm dyin' last!" Naruto grinned, sitting on the ground. "I've got things to do before I die, I'm gonna be the Hokage, so I've gotta at least outlive the Third!"

(Y/n) smiled, "I'll go get some marshmallows for appetizers."

After she entered her tent, Naruto looked at Shisui, watching as he cleaned the fish. "Shisui-sama..." He muttered, getting Shisui's attention because Naruto never used honorifics when addressing him.

"Yeah...?"

Naruto smiled nervously, "Well, I mean, you... I..."

"What? You wanna try?" Shisui smirked, holding the knife up.

"No, I... I found this, in your bag, and I took it because..." Shisui's eyes widened, "I knew what it meant... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have taken it... And I'm sorry... for treating you so badly..."

"Shisui! Have you seen the marshmallows!?" (Y/n) shouted from the tent.

"I thought I saw them in there someplace!" He replied, followed by a shout-whisper to Naruto, "Quick! Put that in my pocket..."

Naruto did as instructed. "But don't worry... I stole the marshmallows earlier when I was hungry..." He grinned.

Shisui stifled laughter at this, finding it absolutely hilarious, "Clepto..." Naruto joined in on the silent laughter.

"I was hungry... and marshmallows are so soft and fluffy..."

While Naruto went to put up his own tent, (Y/n) gave up on finding the marshmallows, and walked to Shisui as he finished cleaning the fish,

Her arms wrapped around his torso from behind, and he looked over his shoulder at her, "What are you hiding from me...?" She asked, puffing her cheeks out.

His brows raised exaggeratedly as he looked back toward the fish, "I'm not hiding anything... why would you think so?"

"Because you keep zoning out, acting frantic, and saying weird things... You haven't been yourself for most of this...er... vacation."

His voice lowered, so Naruto couldn't hear, and his head turned toward her, "Well, I've just been thinking about you... And things involving you that I really shouldn't mention in front of the kid..." Her face heated up, but her attention went to Naruto when his frantic footsteps approached.

"Guys! I think I did it wrong this time!" She looked at the tent, unable to make out exactly what he did wrong, or, rather... what there was that he did right. "I lost the instructions..."

"I'll come help, go take it apart." She sighed.

"Okay!" He ran back to the disaster that was supposedly a tent.

"You sly bastard." She pecked his cheek, "I will expose your evil motives, you deviant."

"The battle begins," He smirked, seizing her lips with his, and then whispering, "Hime."

"And adults say kids are irresponsible! We've got work to do!" Naruto shouted, with his arms crossed. (Y/n) looked in his direction, slightly surprised, "Tents don't fix themselves!"

"Okay, I'm coming." She let go of Shisui, beginning to walk away.

"You will later..." Shisui whispered, mostly to himself, but she heard it, and her blush returned with a passion.

The end of... an exciting detour...

But, although it was basically over, the best of their vacation was yet to come.

Sidenote:

As far as I could find, they've said 'I love you' at least every other chapter since they've been together. Twelve times, that I could find. I just needed to know, it was for my soul. 🤷‍♀️
