ANBU

Name; (L/n) (Y/n)

Age; Thirteen

Personality; Becoming somewhat stoic, and hard to get through to.

Status; Root ANBU

I would like to note something. I'm not sure if Shisui was a Root ANBU or not, but I really don't see him being a part of it. I remember the episode where Shisui expressed his disdain for how they operated.

Sure, that was a few years before he became any type of ANBU, but I still don't believe he would've changed his mind.

I also know that it wasn't in the manga (If I remember correctly), so he may not have really had that view on it in the manga. Idk.

Idk.

I've also never read Itachi Shinden, so I don't know what all was said in that.

There's been a lot of debate about it, and a lot of people like to bring up the fact that he carried a tipless blade (Because Fu and Torune both carried one as well, and they were in Root), while most (if not, all) Black Ops ANBU carry a Katana, but he had that since he was a kid- before he was any type of ANBU.

Anyway, whether he was or not, he won't be for this story.

Simply because I can't picture it.

Without further ado, ladies and gentlemen,

She did it.

Shisui told her not to.

Itachi told her not to.

But she did it.

She joined the ANBU.

Not just any ANBU.

Root.

Shisui warned her not to trust anyone, but that was fine- she had a hard time trusting to begin with.

He was ANBU, but he wasn't from Root, but he did know exactly how they operated.

The only reason she joined was that Danzo had information on something. Information that she wanted.

Shisui didn't know this.

It was information on her sister- the girl who carried her here on her back when (Y/n) was five, only to die a month later. (Y/n) didn't remember much about her, other than the fact that she was fifteen when she died, and she was a capable fighter, though not a registered Shinobi.

The deal was that she would be a Root ANBU for a year, and then he would give her the information. He knew better than to give it to her before she'd fulfilled his wishes, but he also knew there was a slim chance of her staying any more than a year for information, regardless of how much he had.

But she would've known better than to betray him or to leave too soon if he'd given her the information right when he'd told her about it. She certainly would've been killed.

A lot had changed about her in the past year. She cut her hair, now sporting a pixie cut, claiming hair only got in the way when fighting.

She'd become almost emotionless on the outside, not letting even Shisui see her smile for the majority of the time.

She remained calm for all of her missions, sparring, even while having a casual- or what should be a cheery -conversation, her expression was blank and her tone was flat.

She was stoic and Shisui wasn't a fan of this new side of her.

She still went on an occasional mission with her team, but only when they asked.

But right now, (Y/n) was sent on a mission to assassinate a Daimyo that had personally threatened Konoha.

She entered through a window. She was a sensor, so she knew there was no one around. After landing in a crouched position inside of the window, she surveyed her surroundings- just to be sure there was no one there who was suppressing their chakra.

As she scanned the room, her eyes glinted through the mask she wore from the moonlight that shone through one of the windows. Her footsteps were silent as she slowly moved across the room, the floorboards not even creaking once.

She pulled her Tanto from her leg, looking around the corner and down the hall to see no one was there. She looked the other way, and no one was there, either.

'No guards? That's convenient...too convenient...' She narrowed her eyes, slipping out into the hall and walking slowly toward the end of the corridor. She heard talking in one of the rooms adjacent to this hall, so she stuck to the wall, listening in on the conversation.

"Your offer was accepted, Takahiro-sama."

"Very well. And what of the girl?"

"She was taken care of, sir."

"Of course she was. You never disappoint. You should take care of the one in the hall, now."

(Y/n)s' eyes widened as she spun to block the mans' blade.

"You're a quiet one. You got past me, but we have cameras inside. You dodged the ones outside quite well, though."

"I'm not without experience. But I'm also not here to chat."

"No, I didn't figure as much." He smiled, "It would've been much easier if that was the case, though. You're from Konohas' Root, aren't you?"

The two jumped back, before running at each other and their blades met again, the harsh clang of metal echoing throughout the hall. "I am."

"I could tell because of the nature of the mission. This is the kind of stuff you usually handle, isn't it?"

"Yes."

"You're not much of a talker, huh?"

"No."

He laughed. They both jumped back again, (Y/n) flipping in the air as she did.

"Graceful." He noted.

"The moment I got into this building, your Daimyo was as good as dead."

"Oh, that's mean, you're underestimating me. We've barely started."

"Am I, though?" She whispered in his ear, now behind him.

The one in front of him poofed away.

He froze as her blade was placed at his neck, the metal slicing his skin slightly, a trail of blood running down. He wasn't expecting her to use a clone and he deduced that she must've created one as soon as she heard them speaking, maybe sooner.

"Okay, that was good. I'll hand that to you." She slit his throat completely, but what she didn't expect was for him to poof away. Her eyes widened as she spun.

He was nowhere to be seen. She ran into the office, the window was open and the curtains were swaying with the breeze.

"Damnit!"
'That was a clone! A damn good one, too! I couldn't even sense the difference!' She ran out of the house, following the barely detectable trail that they left, but he was fast.

She stopped when she saw exactly who she was looking for. But he was dead. Her eyes widened.

'What happened? Was someone else after him? I didn't sense anyone else...' She did notice, however, that the guard wasn't there. 'Did he kill him? Why would he kill the man that pays him?'

"I'll answer your questions, well, some of them." She spun on her heel to come face-to-face with the source of the voice. "If you take your mask off." He smirked.

"No." She answered flatly.

"Well, it was worth a shot." He shrugged. "Okay, I'm from Kiri. I was sent to gather intel on his plans. I was supposed to assassinate him within the next few months anyway, but that'll do. He was threatening large villages, and I'm guessing that's why you're here?"

"Yes."

"Geez, I can hardly get more than a word out of you." He sighed.

"Why didn't you just let me kill him back there?"

"There are more guards there. Now, I can safely escape after leaving evidence that I was taken or killed, or something."

"You don't sound like you've planned it too well."

"Well, I have a few more hours to decide what I'll do from here, but it was your fault for coming after him so soon. I planned to wait another month, and I would've had plenty of time to figure all of this out."

Before she had time to respond, he was behind her, and he stripped her mask off of her face.

"Damn you!"

He laughed, but his eyes widened, "You're just a kid!"

"Shut up. Give me that."

"Nope. If you tell me your name, I'll give it to you."

"Fuck off."

"Name~"

"Yua."

He narrowed his eyes, "Real name."

She growled.

"Oh, so you do get agitated?" He smirked. "Come on, tell me and I'll give it back. And I want your full name."

She sighed frustrated, "(L/n) (Y/n). Give it back."

"Ooh~ Snappy." He laughed, "Okay, here you go. I'm Hyousuke, by the way." He handed it back, and she placed it back on her face. "Well, I better go. Have a nice week, (Y/n)."

And he was gone.

(Y/n) rolled her eyes, hoping never to see the man again.

Little did she know, she'd see him again one day in the distant future, as an adult.
