Yes. I'm in the hospital now.
I've dropped down to 125,
and they're not sure what
else to do. They're calling it
critical condition even though
I'm functional just because of
how weak I am. And I am so
sorry but they said they don't
even know when/if I'm going
to go home, so I'm going to
have to come off of the road for
the foreseeable future. I don't
want to abandon you, but they
say I'm just not strong enough
for it to be safe.

Luke don't apologize to me.
I love you and I will miss you,
but I want what's best for you.
You're not abandoning me by
following the doctor's orders.
But what do you mean if you
go home?

It's probably nothing. You
know doctors always have
to prepare you for the worst.
But today he told me and
Courtney that, worst case
scenario, if we can't get on
top of this, we may have to
start making arrangements.

joel
Luke, that's not going to happen.
It can't happen. You are my best
friend and little brother, and I
am not going to let you die.

luke
Like I said, that's a worst case
scenario and it's probably not
going to happen. But you have
to promise me that no matter
what happens, you're not going
to blame yourself. None of this
is your fault.

How's Nila?

She's a trooper. Sitting next to
me on the hospital bed now.
She's been helping a ton with
Jude, taking him for a walk to
give Courtney and I some time
alone or just holding him so she
can rest. I don't know what we
did to deserve her.

joel
How much have you told her?

luke
She knows the reality of what's
going on right now, just not the
worst that could happen in the
future.

joel
Tell her I love her. And if you
need anything, I don't care what
it is, you'll call me, right?

luke
