"Now tell me................ Where were you exactly touched" his eyes darkened as his hands ran down her ass, gripping the back of her inner thighs.
"I guess.....you have to find out." She spoke, equally matching his heated gaze.
And just like that, he made her forget how another man's touch would ever feel on her leg.
-----------------------------
'I would like to introduce the new member in my house, the love of my life, the missing piece of my heart, my soon to be wife to all my fans on Monday night. See you guys at the red carpet event ;)'
Dev's tweet went viral over the whole London. Not just in London but also in his mansion. Arjun was the first to click the like button. He had been thinking how Dev was going to announce his status to the world. But when he did, Arjun was really impressed.
Dev walked inside the room and saw Sona curling herself into a ball in the bed. His eyes squinted in concern as he knew that she was awake early in the morning. She had already showered and taken breakfast too... why was she sleeping again? Walking near the bed, he sat on the floor and looked at her face. She looked pale and her face was contorted in distress.
"Sona.... What's wrong?" he touched her forehead and felt her skin cold against his palm.
She bit her lips in pain, as she opened her eyes. "Nothing.....period cramps." She exhaled, trying to blow off the hair from her face.
"Do you want any tablets?"
"No Dev....... Just some sleep would be fine." She hardly tried to say those words. Her legs dug into the mattress and Dev could see her body twisting in pain. His heart sunk heavily. He hated seeing her in pain. The sadness seeped into his pores and travelled to his heart, making it beat more morosely
He intertwined her hands with his and patted her back till he knew that she was in deep sleep.
"Sleep soundly my babydoll" he kissed her and walked out, only to meet Tarun standing at his door with an alarmed look. He looked like he wasn't expecting Dev to walk out.
"What are you doing here?" Dev crossed his arms while Tarun averted his gaze.
"I.....um... I just came to ask about your tweet. Are you...y-you, going to introduce so-sonn... I mean... bhabhi to the world? The r-red carpet...and stuff?" Tarun blabbered as Dev drilled holes into his face by his glares. Somehow, Dev wasn't getting any good vibes from him this time.
"Why are you suddenly so interested about what I post?" he asked with a grim look.
"No bhai, I was just.... My friends were all bugging me. I didn't tell them about your marriage yet. I mean, you were the one who told us to keep it a secret. Are you-" before Tarun could finish, the doorbell noise disturbed them.
Dev clicked his tongue in an annoyance and stormed off to the door. He already knew who it was. He didn't know how his mind was so strong to be handling so many things at once. He was just praying that he wouldn't end up in the mental asylum once all the problems were solved.
While walking down the flight of stairs, he already noticed Lina's adidas luggage bag laying on the floor. By the time he was down, she was already seated on the sofa with her legs rested on the other. She was still wearing that annoying sunglasses with the scarf around her neck. Tons of make-up covered her original face, irritating Dev more than usual.
"You're early" he said nonchalantly.
"So? Anyways, why is my name not mentioned in your tweet?" she asked, lifting her legs off and standing upright. Asha walked inside the hall and her legs froze the moment her eyes landed on Lina.
"Li...na?" she gasped, looking at Dev questioningly.
"Maa, Lina will be staying here from today. I have decided to make her as my girlfriend-"
"Wife!" Lina corrected as she stood next to Dev, looping her hands around his biceps. Dev inhaled a deep breath. As much as he wanted to swat her hands away, he had to do this act temporarily. To make Lina believe in him, he needed to handle this matter with care.
After all, if he was exposed to the world, his entire world would collapse. He would lose his job, or worse, he could even be jailed. His social friends, gangs and criminals would get alert and they would definitely hunt his life. Moreover, his family would be in trouble. He just couldn't bear that thought...
"Dev, what the hell are you talking about?" Asha covered her mouth with her palms. She was shocked to a point that she felt like bashing Dev with her broom.
"Maa, I have decided to forgive Lina and move on."
"What about Sona?" Asha's eyes turned red in anger, "She's not a doll, okay? You married her, for god sake? Are you out of your mind.... I can't believe you're saying this. Whatever it is, Lina is not staying here. Where is Sona?" Asha huffed as Arjun quickly strode towards her and held her by her shoulders.
"Maa....relax. It will be fine." Arjun cooed in her ears as Asha looked at him bewildered.
"Relax?" her eyes enlarged.
"Bhai, you're really going to marry her? Then Sonakshi bhabhi?" Tarun walked down with eyes wide. He looked like his eyes could pop out from his sockets any moment. Dev breathed in a deep breath and took the luggages from the floor.
"Look maa, when I married Sona.... You all accepted it. I married her by force. Yet, no one spoke against my wishes.... So I would appreciate if everyone accept this decision of mine too." Dev said as Asha swallowed her saliva painfully.
She looked at Dev and knew that he was up to something. She knew that her son would never hurt a woman purposely. If he was doing this, then something was really wrong. She looked at Arjun with tears. Arjun just squeezed her shoulders tightly and nodded his head in assurance.
But no assurance would convince Sona....
-----------------------------
"So Tarun, what happened last night?" Dev asked, as he sat on Tarun's bed with a rigid look.
"What happened?"
"During dinner time, were you disturbing anyone under the table?" he glared as Tarun felt his limbs shaking.
"I didn't.... What do you mean my disturbing?" he asked cluelessly although he knew what exactly Dev was asking.
After all, he was the one playing with Sona's dress under the table. How could he tell Dev about that? He thought Sona wouldn't tell his brother.... But she did!
"Tarun!" Dev yelled again, jerking him out of his thoughts. Tarun looked at Dev with an unknown emotion. He was really stuck with Dev's questions in the room. Looking at Dev's face, he knew that there was no room for escape. Dev had always been a loving brother and never questioned him about anything before.
But now, facing questions for the first time, made his stomach churn in fear. He glanced nervously at his watch and looked back at his brother.
"What do you exactly want to know bhai?"
"Tell me what happened last night." Dev repeated, not wanting to beat around the bush. Tarun gulped as he looked at Dev's eyes fixed at his eyes.
His stare wasn't intentionally cold or harsh. His face somehow lacked the mobility others had. His eyes would just rest on a feature, scanning every single movement, leaving his eyes linger longer than any average person would.
"You want to know what happened? Fine I will tell you. I came back home after my football match and sat for dinner straight away without changing anything. Then as usual, Mum was asking about my school and I was talking to her casually. Arjun and Sonakshi were talking to one another... But you suddenly cut me off and started talking to mum, so I kept quiet and concentrated on my food. After dinner was finished all of us walked away and I accidently banged my toes against the sofa. After that, I went to my room and played my video games for an hour. Later, I took a hot shower and went out to put away my soccer shoes outside the house. After I was done with that, mum said she needed help to do pick up some things from her cupboards.... but I brushed her off-" Dev raised his hands for him to stop.
"So that's all?" Dev asked.
"That's all." Tarun's heart gained the confidence, staring at Dev's convinced face.
Dev looked at Tarun with worry. For the first time, something flashed beneath the surface of his hardened expression. It was a sad smile. But it was too late. The emotion disappeared before Tarun could identify it.
"Well, I had my answer then.... Thanks" Dev uttered and stood up while Tarun went dumbfounded.
When Dev was about to step out, Tarun stopped him. "W-what....a-answer?"
Dev turned around and now, his eyes were maddening with rage. All the softness had evaporated, leaving his eyes, narrowed, cold, hard and rigid.
"You know what Tarun? Next time, just know that I figure out lies faster than the escaping air from the balloons." Dev spat as he walked towards Tarun and glared at him.
"Sona is off limits Tarun. You can tease her or play with her like a normal person.....but touching her inappropriately under the table is wrong. Be glad that I am too busy to handle this shitty attitude of yours right now. Or else, you wouldn't see the end of your punishments! One more time this repeats, you wouldn't have any toes to play!" He emphasised as Tarun gulped down hardly.
"Devv..vv... bhai... what happened?" Tarun stumbled behind.
"When you sat for dinner, your shoes were on, and when you left, you injured your toe? Did you forget who your brother is? Nobody leaves the damn shoe under the dining table, unless you are playing hopscotch in your dreams!" Dev spat and stormed of the room, leaving the doors swinging as a sign of his anger.
Tarun's eyes widened as he looked at the retreating figure of his angry brother. How did Dev know about the shoes?
He knew he screwed up!
---------------------------
"Lina, your room is done! Stay here till I make the necessary arrangements." Dev said as he dropped her luggages inside the guest room.
Lina's eyes furrowed in anger. She looked around the room, frowning to herself as if she was thrown into a caged-prison. The joy in her eyes drained and was replaced by a look of displeasure.
"This? What's this Dev? Where's your room?" she huffed and turned around and faced him.
"My room is only for me Lina. Until things get settled, my wife will be the only one to get access to that room. Till then, you have to adjust here."
"What do you mean by wife? Aren't you planning to divorce her?"
"Divorce doesn't happen overnight! Whether you like it or not, you have to deal with her staying here for some time." Dev spoke without any emotions. Looking at her angry eyes, he moved forward and bored his eyes at her.
"Plus, after your disloyalty, I need to think twice before letting you inside my room. I don't want you to be spying on my privacy anymore." He said sharply, shutting up Lina.
Lina threw her specs aside and stormed towards him. "So, what about your tweet? Think you are so smart by not posting my name, huh?" she asked as Dev looked at her with a poker face.
He felt drained and nervous, but he was still keeping that strong façade to destroy Lina. Yet, the confident look on her face spoke volumes about her. He knew something was wrong.... She had done something...
"What have you done this time?" Dev's tone softened as he saw her smile widening. Shoving her handphone towards him, she presented him the disaster she had created. Dev took it in his hands and his eyes stretched as wide as possible.
'Moving in with the love of my life. Can't wait for our marriage! – Lina Carter'. Lina had tweeted the message with a photo proof in her twitter. There were already a million likes and seven hundred comments. Fucking three hundred retweets!
He grinded his teeth hard and looked at her with hatred. He felt his patience level fading off with every move of hers. She was asking for death!
"Didn't I warn you not to post anything?" Dev clenched his fists and glared at Lina.
"Uhummm.... You did. But I chose not to listen. Look, you tried to kill me last time. What's the guarantee that you wouldn't do it again? That's why, I did these precautions. Everything is on the social media Dev. This time, you are being watched closely and you can't even escape" she snickered.
Dev's lips quirked into a smile, "You need to get out from your bubble Lina. If I wanted to harm you, I could have done that the minute you challenged me! But I choose not to! Regardless of being in social media or not, I still can destroy you!" he said and the smile on her face faltered.
"Then why are you keeping me in this house? Huh?" she moved forward and held his collars.
"I am giving you a chance. Even now..... I am warning you. Backout! Get away from me and stop putting false news in the media. I will leave you alone...... If not-"
"If not, what?" she asked with raging eyes.
"If not, you wouldn't live a happy life with me. I am in love with another girl and I will always love her. You are doing wrong... not just to me, but also to an innocent girl." He tried explaining.
"Innocent girl? Where did that come from?" Lina chortled as she looked at Dev amusedly, "Where's the Dev I used to date last time? The guy whom used girls like a tissue paper.... The guy who threw me like a garbage in the streets, the guy who.....faked his love" she asked with anger.
"Time change, people change and situations change.... You can't be the old person whom you used to be. You betrayed me and I hate you for that.... You never deserved me or my love. Why must I accept you back?"
"Because you SHOT ME! You punished me for my mistakes. WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT?" she screamed making Dev frustrated. However, the sudden voice of someone calling from the door stunned him.
"Devvvv" Sona's voice disrupted their conversation as they snapped their heads towards the door.
"Sona?" Dev fought for breath as he was still standing in the guest room with Lina holding his collars.
Sona's eyes widened as she pointed her forefinger towards Lina. Her brain stuttered for a moment and her eyes took in more light than she had expected. Every part of her went on a pause while her thoughts caught up behind her.
"She's..........Lina right?" she asked, looking at Dev with horror. Lina's unannounced arrival had made her dumbfounded. Dev stepped back while Lina had a smug look on her face.
"Oh... you must be Sonakshi Agarwal, right? Hi, I am Lina. Lina carter.... Dev's fiancée." Lina introduced herself while Sona blinked repeatedly to confirm that she wasn't having any nightmares.
Sona felt the world disappear around her. Although she knew that Lina was there to make a scene, something didn't feel right. She looked at Dev and noticed that he was silent too. She had a bad feeling inside her. Why was Lina so confident?
"Dev, why is she here? And why is she calling herself your fiancée?" Sona asked restlessly as she walked towards Dev.
Dev couldn't help but think that he had once again let her down. The look on her face was between fear and trust. He didn't want to lose her trust yet. Damn, he didn't even want to see that betrayed look on her face. Once was more than enough.
"I am going to marry her in a few days" Dev forced his tongue to utter those bitter words.
Sona heart felt as if her blood had frozen, struggling to keep a steady beat. She felt numb. The last conversation they had about Lina, haunted and taunted her. It replayed like an echo on her head, making her think twice about what he had said. Her appetite had dwindled to nothing. The pain she had been feeling from morning seemed to have intensified due to the conversation they were having.
"Then what about me?" she asked, unsure of his answers too.
"Oh that," Lina interrupted. "He has promised me that he would divorce you!" she said proudly, playing with her ring on the finger. Dev felt like he wanted to dig his own grave outside the house. Divorcing Sona was the last thing on his wish list.
"Sorry for the loss, okay? I mean... I know that you aren't up to Dev's standards. Yet you pleased him for the time being. Thanks for your time here sweetheart. However, it's your time to leave now." Lina said, faking her sadness.
Sona heaved a sigh of relief. She knew something was really wrong. She didn't believe Lina this time. Not even a bit. Dev couldn't do this to her.... She knew he loved her. She trusted him. Looking at his face, she knew that he wasn't happy doing this. Jeez, even a blind man could tell that he wasn't happy.
"So, when are you packing? I am sure you have a long way-"
"Stop woman! Don't get too confident yet. Let's see when the divorce happens! It isn't a one way process.... It works two ways. So better luck in marrying my man!" Sona retorted and stormed off from the room. Lina gasped while Dev felt like his body had revived from an accident. He couldn't stop the swelling pride he felt in his heart.
She was truly his girl!
"How dare she..." Lina gritted while Dev just gave her the innocent look. "Look Dev, I want her out of the house in two days. You get it?" she threatened while Dev nodded at her.
"Don't worry, she will be gone!" Dev smiled as he felt a sadistic pleasure running inside his system.
After all, only he knew who would be really gone.
After Dev left, Tarun passed by the room and waved a 'hi' to Lina. She winked at him and smiled coyly. She knew how much of a jerk Tarun was. The days he was around, he never left an opportunity to flirt around. But honestly, she didn't care. All she wanted now was Dev. She wanted him, his fame, his life and money. She was obsessed over the life she had with Dev. She was addicted to it more than the drugs she had.
After their break up, life was horrible for her. That's when she started realising how much she missed the life with Dev. She was wrong for betraying him. He was everything a woman could possibly ask for. He gave her respect, love and freedom. Yet, she chose the wrong path.
She fell under the sinful trap of lust. She used Dev's blind trust on her to her advantage. The life she had with Dev was great. But she didn't feel satisfied. She wanted more. She found herself looking for more... and that's when she met other guys outside the house. She felt guilty at the start....but once the deed was done, slowly the guilt would fade away as well.
Nobody who had an affair would admit that they were wrong. She knew it was a bad decision. It was risky but that's what gave her the 'kick'.
She regretted it. She knew that she had hurt him too much. When he found her red-handed with another man, Dev's face was void of any emotions. Not even sadness. His eyes were just frozen at a place, trying to absorb the hard truth.
Fully masked with a fake emotion, he stood there with his hands crossed. She expected at least a scream or use profanities to insult her, but none came. Instead his mouth remained in an uncharacteristic grim line amidst his stubbles. Lina could swear that he was good at hiding his broken insides, because no one could have found out that Dev was grieving.
He didn't even say a word before he left her. He just left. And what hurt her most was.... He didn't even speak to others about her. Even when he could have degraded her image and destroyed her life... he didn't.
But she screwed up once again.
She did another mistake in her life when she decided to walk in to his house. Instead of apologising, she threatened that she would expose his real identity to the world if he didn't accept her. Yes, she did pry on his personal stuff when he wasn't at home. But after knowing it, it didn't bother her much. She didn't ask him about it too.....but when situations were tough, she decided to use that against him.
After all these years, she didn't even know how to approach him. After all the misdeeds she did to him, she was lucky if he would even grace her with his presence. But now, everything was happening her way.
All thanks to Ricky Fiennes
Lina smiled to herself as she recalled how her drug dealer called her up and consoled her while she was down. He was the one who encouraged her to post the fake pregnancy a few months back. She was startled when he had suggested that, but Ricky was sure that the plan would pass. He was the one who started putting those weird thoughts in her mind after a year. She started believing him and finally, she had reached her destination today.
Even now, he was the one who had all the proofs.
----------------------------
"Sona...." Dev stood like a student who was being punished by his teacher.
"Sona I understand that you are angry.... But listen to me. I didn't do this wantedly. This happened so fast that I-"
"So, when are you going to give me the divorce papers?" she glared, while walking towards him with a murderous glare.
"God please. Sona..." he sighed.
"Don't Sona me! And don't talk to me forever." She puffed, with clenched fists. She walked closer to him and looped her hands around his waist.
"She was all over you! Everyone in this house knew about her... I was the last person" her shoulders heaved heavily as Dev looked at her helplessly.
"You were sleeping jaan..."
"No jaan! I am not your jaan. She is" Sona pouted as she was still shaking with anger.
"Sona... even I wasn't sure about her arrival. This all happened so fast and I couldn't get anyone prepared for this. Even mum is so angry at me. Trust me, I will handle this well."
"Yea, I can see how well you're handling everything." Sona scoffed.
"Baby.."
"Don't baby me. Now tell me what's with that marriage rumour? Don't tell me that you're really going to marry her as a part of your stupid mission or something. If that happens, I would never forgive you, okay?" she choked while she spoke with rage.
"I am not going to marry her. Jeez, why are you over reacting?" that's all he said, and her eyes widened. Dev froze. He knew he just used the wrong words. He closed his eyes waiting for the next blow.
"Over acting?" she gasped as tears fell down her eyes. "You know what? You are so mean.... You let your ex-lover come in and hug you. But I am...over-acting?"
Dev didn't even say anything. He just listened to her as she expressed her hatred for Lina. He didn't feel like saying anything, because he knew that she was whining unnecessarily. He realised that it was also part of her mood swings and pain. He believed that if she at least nagged him, she would be free from the burdens that were placed on her shoulders.
"How dare she introduce me as your fiancée. Especially when I am alive? Is she asking for her death? I am not going to spare...Owwww" she squealed as she held her stomach in pain. The pain suddenly made it difficult for her to stand.
Before she could lose her steps, Dev quickly rushed to her aid and held her by her shoulders. Her face was contorted in pain as she breathed in a deep breath. She was trying hard to keep the pain away from him, but the sudden sharp needle-pricking effect had knocked all the breath out of her body.
"Shit" Dev cursed and held her carefully. "Sona... breathe in and out slowly. Sit down... Don't strain so much, for god's sake. Please..." He mumbled apologetically.
"You know, I hate you so damn much. You are heartless, idiotic and a rich brat. All you know is how to sweet talk! All words and no action. I feel so damn irritated. Let me repeat. IRRITATED" she whined as Dev just kept quiet.
This sentence was repeated for the tenth time at least. It was something he had been hearing for the past ten minutes and he didn't know how to stop that. He had never heard Sona being this abusive before. But his sixth sense told him that those words were just words.
"Keep quiet and close your eyes for a while" he kissed her hair and she hiccupped amidst her tears. The pain was so unbearable for her.
"Don't tell me what to do okay? It's all because of you. This pain and all" she glowered, making Dev's eyes wide.
"What did I do?"
"You are the reason for everything. This pain and all... it's all because of you!" she stated angrily, and he showed his poker face.
"I am the cause for your period cramps? Seriously?"
"Yes. You are! And now.....this face...Urghhh" she gritted as he narrowed his eyes at her.
"What face? What do you want me to do?" he asked ghastly.
"Show me some remorse or guilt in that face. Don't show something so expressionless. It's annoying me!" she whined.
Dev rolled his eyes as slumped his shoulders in defeat. He couldn't help but adore how cute her accusations were. As much as he tried not to show, he couldn't help his lips quirking up into a sudden smile. Girls and period....
Sona's eyes widened. "Oh my god, how dare you smile at my miseries?" she stared at him while he gave her a tight-lipped smile. Turning his expressions into a much serious one, he faced her again.
"Fine. This much of guilt is enough?" he showed a sad face and finally saw her rolling her eyes. But he saw a small smile lifting up on her plump lips. But again, the smile faded off and was replaced with a frown.
"Devvvvv" she whined as he wrapped his arms tightly around her waist. "It's paining.... I can't..." she sniffled her cries like a baby and dug her face inside the crook of his neck. She refused to let him go while he sat there, waiting for her to calm down. He felt really helpless when she cried in pain. How could girls go through this for every month?
He had never seen Lina crying like this before. Damn, he had never seen any girl crying like this before.
Dev kissed her forehead, nose and lips. He felt her snuggling closer to him. But at the same time, he heard footsteps outside their room too. That's when he realised that the room wasn't fully closed. When he tried to loosen his hold on her, Sona tightened her grip again.
"I find the pain fading............but please don't leave" she pouted as Dev was rendered speechless.
"I have lots of work. I need to leave.... But you trust me right?" he asked softly.
Her eyebrowed narrowed again. "I trust you....but you know, I hate you so damn much. You are heartless-"
"idiotic and a rich brat. All you know is how to sweet talk! All words and no action. I feel so damn irritated. Let me repeat. IRRITATED....... Right?.... I know" he completed for her while a sudden chuckle left her lips. She rolled her eyes and smacked him on his chest.
"You know..... I don't mean those words!" she spoke near his lips and Dev just sighed. He knew...
"I know..." he spoke against her lips, feeling his blood rushing to his neck due their proximity.
"Do you know what those words mean?" she asked with bated breath.
"I know....... It means that you love me.... A lot" he hushed.
"I do....love you a lot" she kissed him softly, making him smile.
"You know..... you are going to be my death. Like literally" he huffed, and she hugged him tightly again.
------------------------------
"Dev.... Dev are you there?" Arjun's voice was lower than a whisper.
"Yes, what's up? Found anything?" Dev asked with worry. He kept a straight tone over the phone as he walked over to Asha's room.
"Yea.... It's not a surprise. It's Ricky!" Arjun said like he was already expecting it.
"What? Like really?" Dev's sharp voice reverberated in Arjun's ears.
"Stop screaming. Yea.... He even has some CD evidence. What the fuck have you gotten yourself into Dev? Do you know, you can be jailed if this evidences are out? You are risking the entire undercover agency?" Arjun spoke with anger.
"I know....Urgh....I have no idea how the hell she got so many things? But you know what to do right?" Dev said as he explained Arjun about all the procedures.
"You sure about this Dev? I mean... we could wait till a few days and-"
"No Arjun. We don't have time. I need to get rid of Lina by tonight. The more we delay, the more damage will be done." Dev ran his hands over his face, trying to sound as calm as possible.
"Okay, what about Jordon?"
"I will talk to him. We just need to capture Ricky with the evidences first. Keep it as silent as possible. Once you abduct him, message me. Bring him over to the torture cell.... Check whether anyone else know about this. If yes, capture them too.... Don't care what age, who or where.... Just bring them." He commanded.
"Okay..." Arjun inhaled a deep breath and cut the line. Dev stuffed the phone in his pockets and wiped his sweaty palms on his pants.
After rehearsing his dialogue several times in his mind, he walked inside his mother's room with nervousness.
"Dev?" Asha's voice echoed in the silence of the room. She was shocked to see him there at this time.
"Maa... have you eaten?" he asked, as she just stood up and hugged him tightly. Dev was surprised at the sudden mood swings by the ladies in his life. He hugged his mother and rubbed her back soothingly.
"Dev.... What's happening?" she spoke as he just sighed and lifted her face from his chest.
"Can you do me a favour maa?" he asked as Asha looked at him quizzically. But before she could answer, he continued, "Can you close your doors and don't open it till I ask you to? No matter what..... don't open! Okay?" he spoke carefully.
Asha scanned his features and understood the situation. She felt guilty. Guilty for the life she had thrown him into. He had always been the protector of the family. Since young, he had sacrificed his life, protecting the family..... How could she question him?
Without a word, she nodded at him with a small smile. Caressing his face, she led him out to the door. Once he was gone, she locked it and sat on the floor with a thud.
Her son was a man now.... And he was the protector of his family.
Dev climbed up the stairs, scanning his eyes throughout the house. He called Tarun and knew that he was going to stay over at his friend's place. Asking him to remain there, he made way to Sona's room. His feet echoed on the clammy steps, creating a loud noise in the quiet house.
As he entered the room, he saw Sona sprawled over in the bed. She looked much better than the last time he saw her.
"Sona darling..." he called and saw her jolting out from her thoughts. She immediately jumped out from the bed and ran towards him, like an eager kid.
"Dev..... Aren't you going out for work? Means.... you will be here today?" she chirped happily as Dev smiled faintly at her.
"No. I am here to inform you about something." He said seriously.
"What?" she asked as she looked at his hands. He was carrying a bottle of water and bread in his hands. "What's this Dev?"
"This is some warm water and food for you.... I want you to do me a favour. Keep the door locked until midnight and don't open it until I tell you to. Eat this if you're hungry and listen to songs in that Ipad. Listen carefully baby. Never open the door okay?" He warned in a stern tone, making Sona panic.
"Dev.... but what happened."
"Do as I said. Understand?" Dev repeated and she just nodded.
"How do I know when you call me?" she asked.
"I will knock on the door three times. Okay? Don't panic... this is nothing. You will be fine. And if-" before he could complete, there was a knock on the door.
Lina was standing near the door with a smug look. Dev froze as he was pretty sure she just came. He didn't even hear any footsteps while talking to Sona. Turning around confidently, he raised an eyebrow at her.
"Dev, what are you doing here?" Lina asked as Sona tensed behind him.
"Why? Can't I come to my room?"
"Awwww of course you can baby. But you know what? I hate the concern you're showing her....." she walked over to the bed rest and took the water bottle. "This..." she pointed at the bottle, "Irritates me Dev. You are so sweet that it irritates me. When someone else gets to enjoy this side of yours, it frustrates me!" Lina said as Dev looked at her cautiously.
"Lina..... what do you want?"
"I want you to sleep with me in my room." Lina demanded as Dev smiled at her, bottling up all the disgust inside his heart. Sona's breath got hitched as she stared at Lina like she had gone nuts.
"Are you crazy-"
"Okay" Dev replied, stopping Sona from saying anything. He knew where the conversation was going to lead to. So, before anything could go out of hands, he stopped Sona and held Lina's hands gently.
"Come let's go" he instructed as Sona's heart clenched in pain.
"One second" Sona stopped as Dev halted in his steps.
Before Dev could speak, Sona moved forward and latched her lips with Dev's right infront of Lina. Dev held his breath as he forced his hands to stay on his sides. Dear god, he couldn't even fight against the thoughts that were going through him. Her very smell was flooding his senses now... but the mission was more important. When Sona left him, he saw a challenging look she gave to the furious Lina.
He liked that.
