❤58❤ - High Expectations

"Yea.... Love is just as confusing as that" Dev sulked.

"The reason it's so confusing is because, it's love. Love comes with lots of challenges Dev. It's all about the struggles you have gone through and still developing into a strong and beautiful person....... Just like you" she said, making Dev smile sadly.

"Uhuh...."

"Trust me Dev.... If you aren't strong, then I don't know what strong is"

---------------------------

Arjun stared at Dev for a good five minutes. This was one of the rare moments where Arjun had to witness Dev with a troubled look.

"Dev, what's wrong?" he placed his hands on his shoulders gently.

"I don't know Arjun. I just can't seem to guess what's wrong with me. I am so damn upset!" he huffed and leaned against the wall.

"Fine just cool down. Where's Sona?"

"Don't know... She went inside the consultation room. I didn't see her after that" Dev shrugged carelessly, making Arjun frown.

"Did you fight with her?" he narrowed his eyes.

"No! She made me upset" Dev glared at Arjun, "She said she wanted an abortion if she was pregnant!" Dev completed and looked away.

Arjun's eyes widened as he took a little while to digest what Dev had just said. Sona saying that kind of statement was really a shock.

"W..W-what? Did you hear her well? I mean.....her reasons-"

"Whatever fucking reason Arjun! I don t care about it anymore. She could have still asked about my decision and talked to me about it. I would have stood by her side no matter what! Even if it was an abortion ....Instead, the decision was already taken." Dev waved his hand sarcastically, "She was just informing me like a third person, Arjun!"

Arjun was dumbfounded. He never knew that the situation was so dense. Dev was a man of dreams and Sonakshi just broke it by a few words. There was no way anyone could console him in this matter.

"So.....she's pregnant?" Arjun asked softly.

"Not confirmed yet. But I hope she's not! I don't know why.....but I just can't deal with the news that she would just kill a chi-" Dev paused as his eyes widened.

In that instant his skin became pale, his mouth hung with lips slightly parted and his eyes were as wide as they could stretch. He immediately composed himself and looked at Arjun with enlarged eyes. It was as if he recalled a memory in his head.

"Hey Dev.... What happened?" Arjun shook his shoulders vigorously, only to receive a faint smile from Dev.

"You know Arjun..... how could I have forgotten?" Dev brushed his hair with his fingers and inhaled a deep breath before looking at Arjun.

"You know Arjun, my Sona....... She is not capable of killing anyone in her life. Not her own child especially. She would never be able to kill a cockroach, let alone abort. Her heart is so soft..... She would never be able to live with the guilt ever." Dev spoke in a whisper as he gazed at the trees outside.

"But you just said she wasn't ready, right?"

"Yea....she said that. But I know her too well Arjun. I am pretty sure she won't. She just can't...." Dev trusted his instincts more than anything. She looked down, feeling his heart sink at the heavy feeling.

He realised that he had judged Sona too quickly. She would never ever hurt a person. He knew that she must have had some other deep reasons to take such a decision. He understood that he was overreacting unnecessarily.

"Look Dev," Arjun sighed, "It's not always what you think it is..... I don't think her intention was to hurt you...... I am pretty sure Sona's reasons might have been different. This new changes in her life could have made her alarmed. I mean...you know her the best. She's went through a lot in life and I am sure she isn't mentally ready for the next stage in life. She is the type of girl who would quickly freak out when she doubts something. I guess, that's what pushed her to take such decisions...."

"But she said she can't handle a child with her studies....That's the kind of reason she gave, Arjun." Dev replied in a monotonous tone.

"Don't be too hard on her and yourself Dev.... Give it sometime. Let her take this decision....."

"Yea...Not like I have a say in it!" Dev chuckled with no humour in his voice. It felt as if he was forced to say it. Arjun felt bad to see him like that.

"Well, are you really upset because she said she wanted to abort?" Arjun crossed his arms.

Dev kept silent. He knew that his anger wasn't really about Sona's decision. But it was about how easily she thought she could snatch his rights of 'decision-taking' from him. It was a huge decision and yet, she didn't feel the need to ask him before she decides. He felt betrayed... and it did hurt him continuously.

"Dev come on, look-" before Arjun could complete, someone interrupted them with a cough.

"Urhu-Urhm" Sona was fidgeting behind them. She was jolted by Arjun's sudden appearance. Everything just made her nervous as she fumbled with the ring on her finger.

"Hi..." she softly smiled at Arjun, who returned the smile back at her.

"You took really long, huh?" Arjun smiled and walked towards her, "I will wait for you two in the car outside. I've got some work to finish, okay?" he spoke as Dev nodded and Sona gave him a faint smile.

After Arjun walked away, Sona moved towards Dev and looked at him weakly. She was agitated to see Dev ignoring her eyes. After gathering the much needed courage, she moved her arms and placed on his rigid shoulders. She sensed Dev tensing under her touch. He didn't move away, but still there was a reluctancy in his behaviour.

"Dev....I am sorry. Please forgive me, will you?" desperation flooded in her voice. She hated it when he treated her like this.

"What did the doctor say?" Dev ignored her words and quickly inquired about the status. He wanted to know what her result was. He dreaded her answer, yet he couldn't hold on to the curiosity.

"Doctor said.....that the results would take some time to come. She asked me to wait...." Sona murmured. She felt her stomach knotting painfully when Dev gave her cold shoulders. She couldn't bear it. It was really painful to face his harshness when all she had ever received was his unconditional love.

She removed her hands from his shoulder and looked at him. She was trying desperately to reach out for his soul, but he wasn't even letting her in.

"Dev, I know that you're upset. I am not saying I am right. I could have taken the worst decision today....But I want you to know that you always have the last say in it. I would........I would never do anything that you don't want." She brought her palms and cupped his stumbled cheeks.

Finally, his eye met hers'. She gasped as she looked at his stormy expressions. His eyes reflected his shattered heart like a mirror. She caught the glimpse of his helplessness in them. She could eventually feel the pain that his eyes held.

But again, he masked those emotions.

In a minute, everything disappeared. Everything was caged by his heart. Those mysterious chocolaty-brown orbs were again staring right back at her. There was a blank look all over again. This time, there was no emotion, no transparency or vulnerability in them. It happened so fast that Sona almost felt like she imagined seeing something.

"I think you're right" Dev spoke as he captured her palms on his cheek. Sona's heartbeat fastened as she glanced between his face and his palms. "I think you're right when you told me your decision. I agree if you're not.....ready." he exhaled as he saw Sona's eyes dilating with shock.

"What? But-"

"I don't want you to continue something you don't want Sona. It won't give you......or me....any happiness.... And after all, you're the one going through the process. If you are not ready, then I think no one has the right to force you into this. Even me." He spoke with determination, making Sona's heart skip a beat.

Sona shook her head in defence, "No Dev.... You have all rights. I was.... I changed my mind actually" she said with teary eye as she closed the distance between them.

"What?" he asked as he blinked at her in confusion.

"I don't think........ I can ever kill a tiny life inside me and live with that Dev.... I....don't think I can ever do that. It's just not me...." She looked down and wiped her tears. She felt so ashamed of her own confession. She didn't know why she was feeling this way. But she felt emotional and disappointed for being such a fickle-minded person.

Dev's eyes softened as he looked at her with awe. He realised that he had always known her more than she did about her own-self. Tilting her chin upwards, he swallowed the lump on his throat.

"I know" he spoke softly as he stared at her vulnerable eyes.

"I know....that my Sona is not capable of harming another life.....be it a human or an animal. She just can't."

---------------------------

"Hi sir, I am sorry to say that the pregnancy tests have come out negative." The doctor spoke apologetically as Dev sighed in relief. Sona showed no reaction as she heard the news. She just nodded meekly while the doctor continued explaining the reports.

"But Mr Sharma, she is really weak. Her blood count is low and electrolytes level is really scary. She is having dehydration problems which is one of the main reasons for her period being delayed. Is she taking her medications properly?" The doctor asked while handing the medical reports to Dev.

Sona fidgeted in her seat as she stared down at her lap. Dev's eyes threw daggers at her while waiting for her answers.

"I.......I stopped my medicines..." she mumbled in a low tone, making Dev's eyes pop out from his sockets.

"And when did you exactly stop Mrs Sharma?" the doctor spoke softly as if she was asking a child.

"Erm...It's been a week, I guess" she bit her lips in fear.

"Sona....???" Dev sighed as he sounded so tired and frustrated. The last thing he wanted to deal was, checking her medicines. That was the only thing he didn't do for her till date. He really had no energy to lecture at her now. How could he chase her when she had more knowledge in medicines than him? He just looked at her and shook his head in distress.

"Mrs Sharma, I am sorry but there's only this much we can do as doctors. If you're not following your medications, your health may worsen and it can even risk your life." she spoke in a serious tone.

"I am sorry doctor. I will make sure she has it regularly....." he assured the doctor, who was looking as stressed as him.

Picking up the reports, Dev stood up hastily. But Sona was still seated on the chair. When he looked at her questioningly, she just inhaled deeply.

"Dev.....How about you wait for me outside? I have some things to check with the doctor....please" she said in a low tone. Dev frowned at her. What was she going to do now?

"No! I will stay here" he was about to sit down when Sona showed her puppy eyes to him.

"Please Dev....Please." she whispered and Dev sighed.

"Fine. I will wait for you in the car." He squeezed her palms and left the room.

Leaving downstairs, he saw Arjun still speaking over to the officers.

"Dev, is everything okay? Any news?" Arjun was hyped up.

"Nope....Nothing good. You know what? I will reach the court in another hour. Can you handle things till then?" Dev asked as he scratched his neck awkwardly.

"God Dev, no way. How much of shit am I supposed to handle bro? You are coming with me right now. Those officers in that station are not even listening to me. I can't handle everything Dev bloody Sharma!" Arjun whined as Dev pinched his temples.

"You know....I have to leave Sona at home. I know there's lots of work but I can't leave her here, Arjun.....I could ask someone to drive her back, but I just don't seem to trust anyone here. She is already not well. Please..." Dev requested, and Arjun frowned at him.

"Fine! I better see you in an hour. Or else I will release all the hooligans who you've arrested." he grunted, and Dev smiled at him.

After Arjun walked away, Dev noticed Sona walking down. She looked weak and horrible. Controlling his anger, he walked towards her. She had a small package of medicines in her hands.

"Have you paid the counter? I forgot in a rush..." Dev asked.

"Um...It's okay. I had some cash..." she smiled, but he didn't return any expression. Without any words, he got in the car.

As usual, their car rides were never pleasant. Dev was quiet most of the time. Sona could sense his anger radiating off like the heat from a hot brick. She was even scared to turn to her right. Somewhere, she felt that she was responsible for the whole misunderstand that day. She wanted to mend their tiff and make up smoothly.

But the problem was, how?

"Dev......I am sorry" she broke the silence.

"Can you do me a favour Sonakshi? Please stop asking for forgiveness. It's getting on my nerves. I am feeling annoyed at your constant apologies... So please stop, and try to stop doing things which will make you feel sorry." He gritted his teeth while speaking.

"I am not doing things purposely Dev..."

"Do what? Not taking medicines when you know that it can be dangerous for your health?" Dev snapped.

Sona felt her cheeks heating up. She felt humiliated by his accusations. She had never felt so lost... So incapable of doing even the smallest tasks. But Dev was right. She was solely responsible for her health conditions.

"Dev, I stopped my medications only when I was sure that my health was recovering. I should have continued it... I know I don't have any excuses for that...." She swallowed heavily.

"Oh, hell yea! You don't Sona!" he huffed and continued his attention on the road. "You know, how much of work I have in your village? Do you have any idea what I am facing when I leave your house?" he asked in exasperation.

"Devvvv" she looked at him with teary eyes.

"No Sona, you don't. You just don't understand me at all. I have a hell lot of work outside and I am still being careful about not taking my frustrations on you. I try my best to give you a stress-free life. When I go to work, all my tension is about you.... I agree that I am over protective. But even after all that, this happens! What do you expect me to do?" he tightened his grip on the steering wheel.

"All you can do for me is just take care of yourself properly, right? Why are you making that so difficult for me too?" he asked as Sona couldn't stop the tears from her eyes.

There was a sudden silence in the car. None of them spoke. Dev looked at the side and realised that Sona's eyes had reddened, and she was controlling a sob which was going to escape her throat. Dev's eyes softened as he realised how harsh he had sounded when he explained to her.

He stopped the car halfway, and touched her hands which were resting on her sides.

"Sunshine...."

"Sorry Dev...." Tears dribbled down her cheeks as everything she held back came tumbling down.

"I am so sorry Dev.... I am trying to change for the better, but its hard" she sobbed, suddenly holding her chest unceasingly, her hands clutched her jacket. She held her head with her palms as her vision blurred with salty tears. Her head started to ache as she refused to look at Dev any longer. Dev was suddenly taken aback when he saw her weeping loudly.

"I am trying to be a better wife Dev.... but all the time, I just fail badly. It's hard Dev..... It's really hard. I am trying, trust me. I want to be the reason behind your smile. I genuinely want you to be happy, but everything I do only gives you sadness. I can't help it Dev.... It's really painful to see your disappointing eyes staring at me. It rips me apart and I can't even share it to you. If I can't make a person like you happy.........then I would never be able to make anyone happy. I can't..." The sobs punched through his heart, as he realised how deep he opened up her insecurities. It ripping through his muscles, bones, and guts, hurting him more than he had ever expected.

She pressed her forehead against the side window and began to let her heart yank out of her chest. She felt her life crumbled down in her fingertips. As much as she tried to hold the pain away from him, it still came out like a ferocious cry. A cry of desperate need.

"Sona, please.....stop" he caressed her hair as he saw her crying her hearts out. He felt extremely guilty for increasing her pain. He should have gone slow on her.

"No Dev....You don't deserve this-"

"Sona come here" he called firmly as she stopped crying and looked at him with tear stricken face.

"Where?" she asked confusedly.

"Here" he patted his lap as she frowned at him. Looking around, she realised that the car was stopped only a few meters away from her grandparent's house.

"No..." she shook her head and wiped her tears. Sighing tiredly, Dev grabbed her hands and jerked her towards his seat.

"Devvvv. Oww.." she squealed as he instantly yanked her towards him. The next thing she knew, she was already straddling his lap with her legs awkwardly cramping on the sides.

Dev saw her tears still flowing freely down her cheeks. She didn't want to face him, so she continued looking down her lap while he intimidated her with his looks. Her nose was red as she made funny faces while sniffing her tears. Smiling at the way she looked, he slowly pushed the strands of hair behind her ears.

"Sona darling, look at me." He uttered patiently as possible.

"No..."

"Don't you want to go home!" he repeated.

"No..." she pouted, making his lips widen. She was truly a baby!

Tilting her chin upwards, he kissed her nose.

"You know..... I am truly happy with what I have, Sona." He spoke with ultimate honesty. "If you notice me properly, you would know what makes me happy!" he smiled faintly.

That caught her attention as she stared at him with furrowed eyebrows.

"What?" she hiccupped as she still wiped the tears in the corner of her eye.

"You make me happy." He cupped her cheeks, "When you're happy and healthy, I am happy. You really do make me happy sweetheart! Of course, I get angry when you don't take care of yourself. Anger is my flaw Sona. But that doesn't mean that you're not making me happy. Stop making everything your fault.... When I married you, I knew what I was getting myself into." he said kissing her pouty lips.

"I am really upset that you are not taking your health seriously. You know......... you have to understand that I can't always be with you Sona. There will be a day where you have to survive without me. Days...months or even....years." he exhaled as he saw her pupils dilating in fear.

"W-why?" she stammered as her hands tightened around his biceps.

"I am just saying..... I want you to be independent, love. You always asked me how I stay strong right? Let me tell you. I love myself Sonakshi..... that's the only way I gain my strength. You have to love yourself in order to let others love you. Start loving yourself for who you are. Don't let any other dumbass guy make you believe that you're not his worth." He said, and Sona chuckled amidst her tears.

"My happiness only relies on you babygirl. You know, whenever I see you smiling, it just lights up my day!" he smiled as he saw her looking at him with awe.

"And when you cry........ it crushes my heart so badly. I might look calm and cool, but it's really hurting right here, when you cry like this." He said pointing towards his chest.

"I am sorry Dev-"

"And what did I tell you about apologising?" he asked with raised eyebrows.

"I...I....am sorry for being sorry" she chuckled as she leaned down and hugged him tightly. "And I will also try my best to save you from another heart ache." She caressed his cheeks with hers' lovingly.

Dev smiled and rested his back against his seat. Sona's nose was still looking red from crying and her eyes were blinking continuously, making her look cute as ever.

"Okay now, stop looking so adorable and give me a kiss!" he demanded as she eyed him suspiciously.

Nevertheless, she leaned in and gave open mouth kisses on his cheeks. Dev could have sworn that those were the naughtiest kiss she had ever initiated. Pulling away, she took his hands in hers and kissed the back of his palms

"I love you so much Mr Dev Sharma!" she confessed, making his heart somersault in his chest.

Before she could go back to her seat, Dev pulled her back and gave her a doubtful look.

"By the way.....What were you talking to the doctor after I left?" he asked as her shoulders stiffened.

"Ummm...It's personal" she mumbled as she felt the heat growing in her cheeks. By then, Dev had already noticed the attractive rosiness creeping up in her face. Pulling her closer, he pasted her forehead against hers.

"Personal...huh?" he smirked, as all the insecurities danced across her face, making it impossible for her to hide her blush.

"Dev...It's not like that!" she defended, but his face immediately fell. Sona's face dulled as she saw the unhappiness written across his features.

"Fine! I went to get birth control pills okay?" she huffed hiding her face behind her palms. Dev's eyes visibly widened as he suppressed a smile. He could tell from her blush that she was really embarrassed. Her usual pale skin had a rosiness to it and it was cute.

"Awwwwww I didn't remember wanting a birth control?" he tried putting a stern face. But Sona was able to pick the humour in his voice.

"Well, you're not going to be the one taking it. Be glad that I am not forcing you to use protection! I know how much you will whine if you're told to use it!" she retorted, slamming his ego down the earth.

Dev's jaw dropped. That was like a badass reply. It wasn't like he was using protection for the first time. But if he said that, he would be damned for life.

--------------------------

Dev had a tiring day out at work. He was only five minutes late and Arjun had created a huge drama. This time, Dev didn't get irritated because he knew that Arjun was handling lots of things and he was really grateful for that.

After looking through the cases, Dev submitted all his reports to the higher managements. The case was ninety percent closed. Sanjay wasn't going to be jailed till he was fully recovered, so he had to be under police protection for twenty-four hours. By the time Dev finished all the procedures, he was exhausted like hell. The work in the village wasn't like the work in London. He had to be physically present to explain every detail to everyone.

When the car was parked outside Sona's house, he just wanted to go in and sleep. But the minute he entered the house, he was met with the aroma of hot and spicy mouth-watering food. Dadi greeted him by standing at the entrance with a wide smile.

"Hi Dadi baby!" Dev greeted and she glared at him.

"If your Dadu hears that, he will kill you!" she pulled his ears, making him chuckle.

"Fine.....where's my baby then?" he asked, looking around the house. He wasn't hungry when he came in, but the smell was making his stomach grumble loudly.

Dadi looked at him with narrowed eyes. She called him closer and whispered silently, "She's cooking special dishes for you! Ever since you guys came back from the hospital, she's in such a good mood... What's the occasion?" she asked with a mischievous look.

"You should be asking your granddaughter that! Wonder what's going on in her head" Dev rolled his eyes and smiled at her.

"Okay, I will go and check what she's cooking" Dev rolled up his sleeves and was about to jog to the kitchen when Dadi stopped him.

"Wohohh... Please stop troubling my child. If you walk in now, then she would never finish cooking in time. We are old people and we need food on time. So go and get changed first." Dadi said strictly and Dev pouted at her.

Dadu who walked there was laughing at his wife's words.

"Come on Shalini, you can't stop him from seeing his wife. Poor him!" Dadu chuckled while Dadi glared at him.

Dev just shook his head and smiled at the old couple. They were truly adorable, and he loved the positive vibe they gave in the house. He missed having grandparents at home. He never had one either, so he was making full use of the love he got from Sona's house.

After getting changed to his casual t-shirt and pants, Dev walked out of the room with his phone. The minute he saw Sona walking out from the kitchen, his entire world froze.

She was wearing a saree.....for the first time actually. He never remembered seeing anyone looking so deadly-alluring in a saree. She was so damn gorgeous that he felt his heartbeat increasing rapidly. Her perfectly draped saree clung to her skin like her second skin, displaying her perfect figure with a little amount of skin showing off at her waist. Every time her saree moved a little, his heart fluttered dangerously.

Such a tease...

Her silky waves were braided neatly, eyes displaying the naivety he missed for months and face glowing naturally under the dim lights. Her beauty was driving him nuts, making him weak on his knees. He couldn't seem to understand what the special occasion was. Everything was new to him and he couldn't adapt it. He suddenly felt uneasy. Was he missing something?

"Come on beta, why are you standing there" Dadu broke the silence and urged Dev to sit down.

Dev's heart didn't calm down yet. His hormones were still high on seeing Sonakshi's angelic transformation. He felt like his hands were handcuffed. If only her grandparents weren't there, he was sure he wouldn't be able to keep his hands away from her.

Sitting down on the table, his eyes never left his stunning wife. Sonakshi gave Dev a warm smile and started serving the food. Biryani, cottage cheese curries, chicken, prawns and many other varieties of dishes were spread on the table. Dev's eyes enlarged as he examined every dish surprisingly. How could he eat so much for dinner?

"You cooked all these?" Dev gasped as Dadi chuckled in the corner. Sona just gave Dev an amused look while she stifled her smile. Dev knew that she could cook, but not this well. He had never tasted so many dishes in a long time....

"Yea.... I thought I could do something. It's been a while since you had food at home." Sona spoke as she served the chicken to Dev.

"Come on Sona....Sit down with me" Dev nudged as he stopped her by her wrists. Sona hesitated at first. She tried to refuse politely but when her grandparents insisted as well, she agreed and sat next to Dev.

"I love these stuff.... Damn. They are delicious" Dev moaned as Dadu laughed at him.

Dev took Sona's fingers in his and kissed her palms softly. Sona felt her face heating up rapidly. She had never been so shy and conscious in her life before. But with Dev, everything was different.

"Please behave" she silently whispered in his ears as he gave a lopsided grin.

"Looks like Sona hasn't been cooking in her in-laws at all?" Dadi teased as Dev bumped his shoulders with Sona playfully in response.

"Well ya, even I didn't know that my wife could cook so well" Dev smiled as he swallowed another morsel of food. He was really enjoying the delicious food placed on his plate.

While everyone was talking, Sona suddenly felt Dev's hands on her lap. She inhaled a sharp breath as his grip teased her thighs naughtily. She placed her hands on top of his to stop him, but her efforts went it vain. Sona looked at him and saw that he was casually talking to her grandfather as if nothing happened.

Her hands froze in her plate when she felt his forefinger tracing her bare skin on her navel. Drawing patterns on her stomach, he lightly pinched her there, making her squeak. Luckily she covered her mouth with her palms, preventing anyone from doubting. Men! She rolled her eyes as she released his hands, giving up on fighting.

Minutes later, even his legs were disturbing her. He used his toes to lift the hem of her saree upwards to feel her skin. As much as she wanted to stop him, she knew better things than to embarrass herself. He was such a brat! She mentally scolded him as he tortured her till she finished eating.

When everyone were done with the food, they sat on the floor and started having some family time conversations. Although Dev was tired, he decided to spend time with Sona's grandparents. After all, he was only going to stay they for a few more days... Sanjay's case was coming to an end and it was time for him to leave to London. He was definitely going to miss the village a lot, but everything has to move on.

"You know Sona..." Dadi moved forward and caressed her Sona's hair lovingly, "My mother used to tell me that, when you hold a guy's hand and if he makes your heart race, hormones rush, shyness increase and temptations enlarge.......then you should leave him!" she spoke as everyone listened to her carefully.

"Marry only the guy....which whom you would feel the warmth, closure, security and happiness when he holds your hand....The kind of hand which makes your heart warm and comfortable" She said, thinking about those days while Sona's smile widened.

She quickly turned towards Dev and forwarded her hands. "Come on, hold me.....and let me see what I feel." She blinked dramatically, and Dev's eyebrows furrowed.

He instantly pulled her towards him, making her land on his chest. Everyone gasped, as even Sona was taken aback. Dev looped his strong arms around her waist and smirked at her victoriously.

"I am sure you can feel better security now?" he wiggled his eyebrow as Sona glared at him with mouth agape. She could never get used to his teasings.

"Gosh....No.... Leave Dev. I only feel my heart bursting out from my ribcage...Dadi's right. Guess I married the wrong man!" she smacked his chest while everyone started laughing around her.

"Awwww, they look exactly like us in our young age. Right Shalu?" Dadu teased, making Dadi blush.

Dadu wiped the small tear from his eyes as he looked at the cute couple fighting infront of him. He finally knew that he had fulfilled his late daughter in-law's promise. He knew that now, he could die peacefully knowing that his most lovable granddaughter is in the right hands.

"I am finally at peace Shalini......." Dadu whispered softly to his wife next to him, who was still witnessing Dev and Sona's childish fights.

"Yea......Me too. Sona's finally smiling from her heart....after so long" She looked at her granddaughter with pride. Unshed tears brimming in her eyes.

"I just wished......Simran was here to witness the fruit of her sacrifice"
