Author’s P.O.V.
“Sir! Sonic went to the castle again!” Orbot hovered to his boss, Eggman. “He got seriously injured, but he managed to escape again.” 

“Damnit!” Eggman slammed his desk and looked at Orbot. “Do you know where he headed?” He asked sternly, even though he was glad his plan was working, he was annoyed that no one has managed to capture him. 

"No Sir." The robot slowly shook his head, ready for the doctor's outrage. 

"This can't be happening!" Eggman shouted and slammed his desk again. "That's it! I've had enough! Sonic and his team are going down!"

"No. Absolutely not." The Commander shook his head. "You have no right to do that."

"But, Sir. We found Sonic going in that direction. You have to let us and check in at least once a week." Rouge begged.

"No! You have no right, no reason to go in! If you are so sure Sonic has been going then I need proof of it first. Now get out of my office and go do your job!" He shouted at Rouge who nodded and left the room then sighed. 

Agent Rouge walked to where Shadow was in their office and shook her head. "I didn't get permission. I may just have to sneak in how Sonic told me to." She said lowly only for Shadow to hear.

"No, it's too dangerous." He shook his head. "If the Commander doesn't let you, then I'll do it. It's safer for all of us.

"Hun, if anyone finds you, the commander will not go easy on you." Rouge sighed and shook her head. "I can do it, don't worry." She tried to convince him but she knew Shadow was too stubborn to listen to him. 

"No. I'm going to get punished either way." He rolled his eyes. "I just want this to end already. Maybe I'll die and see Maria again." He shrugged. "Both options are okay." 

Rouge lowered her ears at what Shadow had said. She had known him for so long that it hurt her when he said that. "I am not letting you die, Hun and I am not letting the commander punish you for this. Sonic thinks there is something wrong, we will figure it out. It is strange how everyone just turned their backs on them in just a matter of minutes. This isn't right." She sighed. 

Shadow just scoffed and finished the paperwork he had left. "Whatever. You're not going there. If you do, I'm turning them in." He didn't care about the others, or at least that's what he wanted to believe. "Because I'm not staying there with all those idiots, thinking they can do whatever they want and act tough against me." His ear twitched in annoyance just at the thought of it. 

"Fine. I won't go but try to be nicer to them, Handsome. They are already going through a lot and you're making them be more afraid. Try to be nicer. After all of this is done, they will leave you alone." She looked at the door and back at Shadow. "Let's go already."

The hedgehog nodded and stood up then grabbed Rouge's wrist then chaos controlled in front of his house. "You're sleeping on the couch tonight. Faker keeps waking up and talking to me." He was trying to avoid him since he felt like he was starting to like him, and he didn't want to be friends with him since he's the prince and he knew that he'll get in trouble if anything happens to him. 

"That's not bad, maybe you two can finally stop fighting." She nodded. "But I guess if you want me to sleep on the couch. It wouldn't hurt you to be friends, I know he said he's a prince but when have you ever seen him act that way? It's hard to believe it." She softly laughed and opened the door then walked in to see Amy and Knuckles in the kitchen while Tails was checking in on Sonic who was asleep. 

Shadow just rolled his eyes and shook his head then started walking to his office, he didn't want to talk with anyone but, unfortunately for him, Tails asked him a question.

"Did the Commander let you go to the castle?" The young scientist looked at the two agents as he finished checking on Sonic.

Rouge walked to the young fox and shook her head. "No, but don't worry, Hun. We will figure this out. How is Sonic doing?" She asked gently as she glanced at Sonic since the door was opened. He had his ears dropped as he slept.

"He's... Better than yesterday…" He sighed. "You shouldn't try sneaking in, then both G.U.N. and the royal guards will be after you." 

"We've been through worse." The black hedgehog scoffed. "Or at least I have." 

Rouge nodded at her partner's response. "We will be okay, Hun. Don't worry. Just take care of Blue." She smiled at him.
