Author's P.O.V.
The azure hedgehog kept turning as he tried to sleep. He tried not to move much since he didn't want to wake up Tails. He stood up being annoyed, he was scared that Shadow and Rouge will call GUN as they slept to take them. 

The blue hero glanced back at his best friend and sighed then covered him in a blanket once he saw him shivering. After that, he walked out of the room and looked around quietly as he made his way to the couch hoping everyone was asleep, but unfortunately for him, Shadow was there, sitting down and watching TV.

His ear twitched and he looked at his azure rival. "Why are you awake? Do you want me to show you where the bathroom is?" He asked lowly and softly since he was a little tired but he had to stay awake to make sure everyone was safe. 

Sonic shook his head and went to sit down on the couch but kept distance from him. "No, I just can't sleep." He sighed and looked at the TV. "Why are you awake?" He asked calmly at him. 

"Rouge is asleep on my bed, so I'm sleeping on the couch." Shadow mumbled. "And I can't sleep on the couch" 

The azure hero nodded. "Thanks for helping us and sorry for acting that way earlier. I just don't want my friends to go through more because of me." He sighed as he looked at the TV. "Everyone betrayed us, I wasn't sure if you and Rouge did too. Everything happened so fast, I'm just trying to protect them. Plus, to be fair you were never this kind to me when you said you'll help us, I didn't believe you since you've always hated me." He chuckled. 

"Please tell me you won't kill me when I sleep, Shad." He joked and smiled softly at him, making him chuckle quietly. 

"Please. I'm not falling that low and kill you now that you need help. It's 'fun' when we're fighting over nothing, but this isn't fun and games." He sighed quietly and rested back on the couch with his arm on the back of it. "I don't know what I have to tell the commander though..." 

"The commander did send you to get us then?" He sighed. "I knew GUN wasn't going to take long on trying to get us." He rubbed his own arm as he tried to think of what to do. "What if you turn me in? You won't get in trouble, as long as you keep helping the others." He said lowly. He didn't want Shadow and Rouge to get in trouble for them. 
He looked back at the TV. He was tired of causing problems to his friends. He knew if Shadow were to at least turn him in, then he wouldn't get in trouble.

"Are you kidding? Rouge will kill me if I do. And I don't want to die yet." The dark and red hedgehog chuckled quietly once more. "But still, if you don't make my life a living hell, you should expect a bruise or two." 

Sonic chuckled and nodded. "Yeah, I kind of expected that from you. There's not a single time that I see you where I don't come out with a bruise or cut at the least." He looked at him. "Do you mind if I ask? But, why do you hate me?" 

"I hate many people. You're not the only one, but if you're that curious, it's because I'm never in the mood to talk with anyone." The Ultimate Lifeform answered looked at the blue hero. "Why do you keep trying to talk to me?" He raised a brow. "When you see that someone is pushing you away." 

Sonic looked back at the TV and shrugged at what he said. "I don't know. I always thought we could be friends, we make a great team." He chuckled. "You can't deny that, we work better together but I get it. I won't bother you anymore if that's what you want."

"Yes, that is actually what I want." Shadow nodded as he looked at Sonic. "But now we have bigger problems." His ear twitched when he heard footsteps.

"Sonic...?" The fox mumbled as he yawned, he had woken up when he had almost fallen off the bed and was confused when he didn't see his 'brother' next to him. 

Sonic's ears perked up and he looked at Tails. "Hey, buddy. Why are you awake?" He walked to him and smiled and glanced back at Shadow. "If that's what you want then that's fine. I won't anymore." He said lowly to Shadow, who just nodded as he stared at the TV as he listened to their conversation. 

Miles shook his head at Sonic and hugged him. "I thought you ran away again..." He yawned again since he was tired. 

Sonic hugged back and shook his head. "No. Although I might leave for a while tomorrow." He would go weekly to check on his family even though it was dangerous. Tails had told him countless times for him not to go but he never cared and went either way.

"But Sonic... I've told you it-" Tails tried to convince him not to go but he was cut off. 

"You know I will still go. I have to make sure they are okay. Even if they want me dead. Come on. Let's just go to sleep." He walked with his 'brother' to the room.

Tails gave in and followed Sonic, knowing that he wouldn't change his mind. 

Shadow, on the other hand, was trying to figure out what they were talking about, he didn't want 'his Faker' to get hurt, since both Rouge and he would be in trouble if G.U.N. finds out that they were helping the number one threat in the whole world.
