Chapter Thirty
Zianna was discharged after three weeks.
I had always prayed and wished for people to love, and care for me after my Mamma's death. I thought that when I went to live with Mr Hussein, he would at least acknowledge me but again I was wrong. Then I met Tayyal who became overprotective of me and Dalia. Nour was someone, I didn't get along with.
Why?
Two words, her mother.
I didnt realize how much her mother hated me until her son's Nikkah. She didnt care if people saw her abusing me. And the way she said those words; "Worthless, Useless, Illegitimate".
They will always be in my mind. They will always be a reminder of why she hates me.
I can't ask Mr Hussein because he refused to acknowledge me as his daughter. I understood a lot of things when he divorced Mamma.
People will say kids will forget, but they don't know that kids' minds will always remember what happened. And this will be a copying mechanism when growing up.
"Zia, are you ready to go?" Her sister Dalia asked. "I know that what mum did was unforgiveable but always remember that you have a brother and a sister," she added giving her a small smile.
"I know but Tay is a newly married man who needs to take of his wife. Plus, you are about to start a new job, right?"
Dalia nods. " Yes, but I still have a month to go. Plus you are my priority now. As for my job, I will continue going to it. But I am planning on moving out of that house, Zia. The environment is getting toxic. Dad hasn't been home most nights claiming to be at work, while mum just yells at everyone who is in her way."
"Dalia, my advice to you, is that dont make a haste decision about your life. Think about it. Pray and then decide. I am not saying that you shouldnt leave or you should stay but all I will advice you is to think before you regret your decision," Zianna said, gathering her things.
Thankfully, when she was discharged from the hospital, Tayyal left a key to his house for Zianna.
Zianna forced Tayyal and Zoya to go on their honeymoon even though they both planned on cancelling it.
"Now, let's talk about your boss. Zia, use the same advices you used to give me. He won't hurt you. He isn't dad. Plus, what kind of boss will stay with an employee at the hospital overnight? I know that you have some reservations but remember that Allah doesnt forsake anyone," Dalia said.
"Dalia..."
As Zianna was about to say something when she was interrupted by a knock on the door. Both girls turned to see who it was.
Azhar.
Dalia looked at her sister and then at the man at the door. She smiled knowing her sister was in the great hands of her boss.
"Asalam Aleikum, I am here to pick you. If it is okay with you?" Azhar said.
"Waleikum salaam. Yes, she is almost done with
packing. Here take her bag, while I go and get a wheelchair for her," Dalia said, handing Zianna's bag to him.
"Dalia..."
Dalia didnt even listen to what her sister was telling her. She just walked out of the room with a huge grin.
"I hope that Azhar can make my sister smile again."
Meanwhile, in the room, Zianna looked down hoping that her sister would appear in seconds just like she disappeared.
"I am sorry about my sister. I think she left her brain in the place where she has been all these years..."
"Don't be. Your sister is looking out for you. She is helping you. Plus, your brother asked me to give you a ride to his place because Dalia doesn't have her car yet," Azhar said. "And I came to settle the hospital bill so you can have peace of mind when you leave," he added.
"You didn't need to pay for my hospital bills. I will pay you back, in shaa Allah..."
"And I won't accept it. Zianna, my mother would yell at me if I didn't do this for you. Plus, you remind her of someone she knew years ago."
"Okay. Thank you for paying my hospital bills."
Azhar smiled.
After a few minutes, Dalia walked inside the room with the wheelchair.
"Sorry, I am late. I had to go down to the reception to get the wheelchair and the nurse told me that she was the one who was supposed to be here with you. I told her, you are my sister, if anyone has a right to wheel you out of this hospital its me," Dalia said, grinning.
This made both Zianna and Azhat laugh at her.
"Come on, you would do the same when it comes to me," Dalia said, then turned to face Azhar. "And you would do the same for your siblings, right?" she asked.
"Yes, that's true. I would do it for them as they would for me."
"Okay, now sit on it and I will push you towards the elevator," Dalia said instructing her sister while Azhar watched an amused look on his face.
Zianna did what her sister had instructed her. Azhar was trying to hold his laughter because of how bossy Dalia was when it came to Zianna's care.
"Okay, ready to leave this hospital?" Dalia asked.
Zianna nodded and her sister wheeled her out of the room, while Azhar followed behind them.
I should thank Tayyal for suggesting that I drive Zia to his house even though, Dalia would have called a taxi for them. As Mamma would always say; Allah knows best what happened to us.
The three of them got into the elevator.
"Zian, Tay make everything available for you at his house. And I would be coming every day to come and check up on you. Plus, you know that I can't live with you just yet. And yes, remember to always take your meds. I don't to lose my sister," Dalia said trying to hold back the tears. "In shaa Allah, the doctor will have a donor very soon," she added wiping the tears.
Zianna took her sister's hand and smiled. "Dalia, everything will be fine. And remember that I will always be there when you need me. I promise to always take my meds and as for you, don't make a hasty decision regrading your future."
"Okay, I also promise to think before deciding anything in my life."
I pray that you will get your happiness, dear sister. My mother had no right to hurt you just because our father is the one to hold to accountable for. And as for your boss, I now understand why you are hesitant to give him a chance. Because of my mother's words. The words that she called, aren't true, dear sister.
Sometimes we need someone to remind us of our value. It could be our friends, family or even our pets. But the most important part is that we believe in the words they tell us. And not to believe things that aren't true.
